U.S.S Lothlorien / Mission 5 "The Great Blue Yonder"
November 30, 2007, 10:55:14 PM
Tom calmly tapped in commands on his console, unfased by the destruction of the ship around him. He made the decision that it was more important that they got as close to the surface as possible before the ship broke up than them surviving any heraani attacks, and so diverted all power from rear shields, the now empty marine deck, and all non-essential or now-unusable systems to the front shields, managing to raise them by 13.43%

"Power conduits are rupturing all throughout the ship. The EMH is offline. Captain; I recommend the order to be given for non-essential crews to abandon ship via the escape pods. The ship is coming apart and we may start losing people soon too."

As he spoke, his console lost all contact with the computer systems in the port nacelle, meaning it had either had it's systems disconnected from the rest of the ship somehow, or the nacelle was gone completely.

Tom breathed in, and then out again through his nose. "Well, Sir; I expect you already know a great deal about me already. If you want to know more, however; I almost faced a court-martial in my time at the Academy. My CO was being tried for testing an unsafe device, and I refused to testify. No action was taken against me, however, since enough of my classmates testified against him to convict him."

Richards had kept out of the bulk of the action mostly during the battle on the planet, working on trying to do something with the Lothlorien's systems.

Now that they were on the Heraani ship, however, he had begun work on locking out as many files as he could find on the Heraan database on behalf of Starfleet Intelligence. He was good at his job, very good, and made sure that there was no trace of him accessing the systems. As far as any of the other crew were concerned, the files had been locked by the Heraan. There were a few files, however, that managed to escape this, as the database was too large to lock everything down covertly and quickly.

Tom sat in the briefing, quiet as usual. He had come onboard the ship before it's departure, working as the Ops officer. He always tended to quietly observe and do what was needed from him, but he felt he needed to speak up here.

"Sirs" he paused, deciding it would be best to introduce himself, as he hadn't drawn any notice to himself before, and would be an unknown. "- Ensign Richards, Operations Officer - has the computer given us a location for this molecule?"

Tom checked his readings. "Long-range scanners are offline. Short-range sensors are functional - barely. I think I can get them working at about 50% their full capacity if I can get to the EPS Conduits on deck 6, but no more than that."

Tom watched Dolan through the security feed he had routed to his console - through various other consoles to hide his infiltration. He had moved consoles twice since the Director had spoken to him, making it seem as if he was trying to help with the running and maintenance of the ship.

Dolan had somehow found his way to an as-of-yet unexplored storage room. Tom only knew where he was because he had been keeping an electronic eye on the Lieutenant, as per the Captain's instructions. Tom double-checked something at the edge of the screen, while at the same time looking briefly over his shoulder inconspicuously. Good, nobody was looking his way, and noone was even close to him. He wouldn't need to move consoles again yet.

He nodded slightly in satisfaction. The files pertaining to the identification of those objects, and the inventories of all storage rooms on the vessel, were among the files he had managed to safely lock out access to. The information was above his clearance level, but he was tempted to have a look anyway, just out of rebellious curiosity...

No. He was still feeling the brunt of the punishment from his last case of disregarding his clearance level. He had better leave the files be.

Tom shrugged. "I was young, and I'm sure even you remember what it was like to be nieve like that, Director." he said, stating Simon's Intelligence Rank. "Still, not only was no harm done, but I highlighted a few areas for improvement in the network security, which I noticed were worked upon, but could use some more effort."

"And it seems that Admiral Yates is a wise man. I wouldn't want me as my enemy, either. Especially when given enough time I can coax whatever piece of information out of a computer system."

All the links I've found to the Online Database seem to be offline.

Just thought you should know...
