Tom calmly tapped in commands on his console, unfased by the destruction of the ship around him. He made the decision that it was more important that they got as close to the surface as possible before the ship broke up than them surviving any heraani attacks, and so diverted all power from rear shields, the now empty marine deck, and all non-essential or now-unusable systems to the front shields, managing to raise them by 13.43%

"Power conduits are rupturing all throughout the ship. The EMH is offline. Captain; I recommend the order to be given for non-essential crews to abandon ship via the escape pods. The ship is coming apart and we may start losing people soon too."

As he spoke, his console lost all contact with the computer systems in the port nacelle, meaning it had either had it's systems disconnected from the rest of the ship somehow, or the nacelle was gone completely.

"Not able to keep up I see Private Meatbag.  But if you wish to take a Puma then so be it.  We best make haste to secure the crash site and hope their are survivors, Private." HK said with his computerized voice.

<The marines were making good time with both Pelican's for air support and Puma's on the ground, they spend towards the crash site, it was getting hotter as they reached noon but they didnt stop, they knew time was of the essence so they kept going.  Speeding towards the crash site in hopes they get their in time>

=^= "Battalion Group A, we will be their shortly remember once we reach the site I want a parameter up, Moore and Richerds you take care of the parameter.  The rest of you are with me to search for survivors." =^= Balkazar said over the communications link.

"Very well, Lt. Col.  Dont get my men killed.  Have you seen any of the rest of the crew ? they were in the escape pods and I havent heard anything back from my crew." Simon asked curiously.

OOC: Where is everyone?

IC:
The marine vehicles arrived rather quickly at the Lothlorien crash site, with surprisingly no Heraan harassment.  Dolan jumped out of the Puma he was in to assess the situation and shielded his eyes from the noon sun to check the Lothlorien's condition.  He was dismayed to see the derelict state the Lothlorien was in.  Large chucks of debris could be seen several kilometers out and the familiar glow of the warp nacelles had dimmed down drastically.  The ship's designation was largely blacked out by fire and phaser scorches, along with much of the outer hull.  The sight briefly brought back memories of a similar incident, but Dolan quickly suppressed those thoughts.  He hoped the ship's memory core could be salvaged and was grateful he always made several copies of his prototype phaser bank design - he had a couple with him now- though it seemed the prototype that he was making in Cargo Bay 1 would most likely be damaged beyond repair.

Due to General Powell's critical condition, Dolan assumed temporary command, due to his knowledge of the situation, thanks to his tricorder.  From his tricorder readings, the Heraan had largely retreated into their ship.  He boarded the Puma and had the vehicles close in by the Lothlorien.  Upon arrival, he had the critically wounded, including General Powell, brought to the makeshift medic tent near the Lothlorien.  After he made sure everyone was taken care of, he began looking for Colonel Balkazar, since he assumed Rajnus and Admiral Yates would be with him.  After searching for about half an hour, he found the colonel on a ridge not too far up the mountain the Lothlorien rested next to, overlooking the battlefield while talking to a woman that Dolan did not recognize, but felt he should respect and perhaps even fear.  There was also a somewhat humanoid machine that seemed intimidating, especially with its blood-splattered chassis and extended blades.

Dolan cautiously approached the group and announced, "General Powell's and my team has returned.  Our mission was successful..."  Dolan hesitanted, before adding, "...with a little outside help.  We lost 5 men, another 3 are currently critically wounded, 4 if you include General Powell.  The other 2 aren't at their best, but they can manage with some medical attention.  So what are our plans to get off this planet?  And where's the Captain and the Admiral?"

"In a way, Lieutenant, it concerns all of the Federation."

"Earlier when the ship locked down and the Omega symbal appeared on ever monitor, consul and LCARS screen it was a warning. A warning that was design to make sure the captain was aware of. It warns of the Omega Partical and that the Omega Directive has been initiated."

((OOC: Oh, why don't we just ram the Heraani carrier?  It could save us all from more descriptions on how sparks fly and bulkheads fall.))

Dolan managed to keep his balance as the areas surrounding the vehicle he was in suffered major damage from the close shots of several fighters.  The ship continued to shake violently as it drew closer to the research complex.  Several Heraani fighters were downed by the marine vehicles, but unfortunately two more replaced every one that was destroyed.

Raszagal

(OFF: I know this is a ways back, but "split chins"? The Heraan only have one chin, and no mouth. Think of the Protoss from StarCraft, that's the look of a Heraani soldier. Also, remember that the proper name for the enemy race is "Heraan", not "Heraani". Only add the "i" when you are describing a specific object of or belonging to the Heraan, such as "the Heraani carrier". Otherwise, the race is called "the Heraan". It's like saying "welcome to the United States of American". Anyway, my rant's done.)

Raszagal stopped HK before he was about to take off on another scouting trek. "Let's take a Puma," she said. "We can move around much faster, and will be able to defend ourselves if the Heraan manage to spot us from overhead."

Balkazar

<Balkazar and his half of the Battalion were seen in the distance as 20 or so Puma's came racing out of the trees and the marines got out and dispersed where they could, Fire teams were divided up and were put into the fortifications that HK47 was so kind as to make earlier.  Then the Pelicans came in with the rest of the marines and gear was being dropped off.  Marines pulled both heavy equipment and light equipment out of the puma's.  Several Marines were assisting the field medics with their gear and helped them into the wreckage of the Lothlorien to set up a medical triage area for the impending battle that will be coming soon.  Then they broke up and started to guard and trap every entrance forcing the Heraan to come only one way.  In a short time the rather deserted crash site was literally turned into a make shift fortress and marines were taking up positions all around making sure the heraan soldiers didnt get threw without being seen or heard>

"Sir, the area is secured the best we can make it." a private said coming up and reported to the Col.

"Good, thank you.  Get back to your post and stay strong and trust the marines next to you and you will get back in one peace." was all Balkazar said as he left and went looking for Nate and soon found him.  "Report." Balkazar ordered.

Voyager

< Research Facility, Underground >

Dolan frantically input commands in the console, with somewhat miraculous accuracy, all things considered.  The doors into the room containing the Omega was now visibly melting and collapsing.  Most of the Omega molecules were destroyed fortunately, but at his current rate, Dolan knew in all likeliness all of them would not be destroyed before the doors finally gave way.  The few marines that were not critically injured or tending to the wounded gathered by the doors, preparing to fire once the doors collapsed, in a desperate bid to give Dolan more time.

The doors then exploded and phaser fire went both ways through the molten opening.  Dolan entered commands ever so much faster, desperation giving him a little more speed.  The Heraan charged into the room.  The marines closest to the door were rapidly dispatched.  As the Heraan made rapid progress, Dolan swung his phaser rifle off his back and began firing.  One Heraan fell, but the others came faster than before.

Suddenly, shimmers appeared throughout the room that Dolan was in and reptilian humanoids wearing unusual looking uniforms materialized.  What struck Dolan the most about them was that they faintly resembled Klingons, especially with their cranial ridges.  The new arrivals opened fire on the Heraan, who suddenly seemed to grow fearful and returned fire.  However, the reptilians seemed to have some sort of armor or shielding, as they absorbed the fire with no apparent damage.  They quickly destroyed the Heraani force and several of them left the room.

Dolan was slightly shocked and awed at the same time.  He hoped the reptilians were friendly and that the few who left the room were going after the remaining Heraan.  He then quickly put all other thoughts aside and turned back to the console.  However, he was stopped by one of the reptilians nearby.

"What do you think you are doing?" asked the reptilian in a grand voice that seemed somehow musical also.

"I am going to finish destroying these molecules," answered Dolan, starting to worry that the reptilians might not be completely friendly.

"So are we," replied the reptilian, to Dolan's immense relief.  He continued, "Our most important protocol mandate the destruction of these specific molecules...our methods are also far more effective and safe."

As the reptilian finished his sentence, another reptilian had stepped next to the containment field and held up a strange looking instrument.  He pressed a few buttons and Dolan watched amazed as all of the Omega molecules pulled apart instantaneously and became a number protons, neutrons and electrons.  They then reformed into water molecules.

The reptilian then said, "Our mission is complete.  We must now go."

"But I have so many questions!  Who are you?  Where are you from?  How-"

"Our second most important protocol is to not contact other civilizations that have not yet achieved intergalactic travel on a large scale.  The molecule destruction protocol is the only one that allows for this second one to be breached.  However, the Heraan are we have previously encountered and are hostile to us.  Attacking them first is bending the rules to the limit though.  We will now be leaving."  The reptilian finished his last sentence with a finality that ended the conversation.  All of the reptilians were then covered with the same shimmers that brought them into the facility and they disappeared.

Dolan breathed a sigh of disappointment.  He then gathered his fallen equipment and swung his phaser rifle over his back again.  He helped the marines tend to the wounds and had everyone move out as soon as everyone was ready.  The critically injured were slowly carried to the few Pumas and Pelicans that were still standing.  Everyone was piled in and the vehicles moved rapidly to the location of the Lothlorien crash site.

Raszagal

(OFF: There's three variants of the Puma. One has a phaser turret in the bed of the truck for anti-personnel duties, one has a microtorpedo turret for anti-vehicle, and one has benches to carry six extra marines. All three, of course, have the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat.)

Raszagal parked the Puma momentarily, and then keyed a short command into the multi-function display between the two front seats, and it showed a top-down scan of the surrounding area.

"It looks like there's a small patrol coming through here," she said, pointing. "Too much for us to handle. Let's get closer, and then observe them on foot."
