Title: Mission 8: The Battle of Avalon
Post by: Baphomet on November 07, 2005, 06:30:18 PM
Baphomet looks over the PADD and then turns to Commander Freeman.

"There is just one problem with your plan, no vessel can travel through nullified spatial field, that is why my intentions were to produce a Shift effect between us in normal space and the Na'Jigat."

Baphomet then shows him a schematic at the Science Station.

The simulation shows a vessel emitting Antigravitons in front of a vessel and then more vessels showing a void spreading out in front.

"But you are correct it seems I have made an error in my calculations when it comes the Navigational Deflector Arrays."

"But, yes taking my shuttle out waiting on the other side of Avalon station with Captain Taurik and Ambaseddor Vurak on board. When the vessels create the null void, we could Shift in behind the Na"Jigat, pwerhaps."

OOC: Except I haven't heard back from Admiral Montrell yet.

"The logical thing to do Lieutenant is withdraw, but the less logical course of action is to rebuild and fortify the bases."

Baphomet thought for a moment...

"Also I have a proposition, for all vessels and Space stations to be upgraded with the Shift-Drive and reactors to be decommisioned in favor of the Zero Point Energy converter...but that is only logical."

"Thank you, but I would rather adapt to the arm, rather than adapt it to me," Taurik said, tossing his ceremonial weapon to Freeman. "Such challenges give one strength."

After the call from Frontier Station, Baphomet raised her eyebrow a Morgan who had turned back to resume the discussion, he smiled wickedly. (Just a bit of fun :)  )

". . .As I was saying Commander, my research into ZPE converters, given also that my shuttle is powered by a ZPE converter shows that the energy output is near infintesimal.
The other pros to such a device, is that if there were ever a core breach the energy would just return to Subspace and the Converter would shut down with little to no amount of damage to the vessel."

"The reason for all my research was to have a clean, endless supply of safe energy production, powerful enough to slingshot a vessel anywhere in the galaxy and the Universe, within a matter of minutes, which is where the Shift Drive comes in.
My goal is to have every vessel in Starfleet, use the Shift Drive and ZPE Converter to explore everything in the universe, is that not what Starfleet is all about."

~Logical, don't you think?~

OOC: We are at avalon and isn't it nice to have a crew in agreement.

IC:  =A= Freeman to Baphomet =A=
I would be delighted.  I will see you in twenty minutes.

Twenty minutes goes by as Morgan is in his quarters trying to make himself presentable for dinner then after giving up on succeeding he goes the Baphomet's quarters and rings the door chime.

Matthews quickly disengaged the power to the weapons systems, and notified the captain.
He stood at his station and silently observed the veteran officers, reminded just how much he had not seen. For a moment, it hit him that they might not leave the confrontation in one piece, but he swept it away. He checked readings and refocused.
"Ships power level has dropped 10% from disengaged weapons".

"Commander, I would like to test adapting the ZPE to the Scorpian attack craft just to see how it interfaces with starfleet technology. Would you care to assist me?"

Freeman arrives on the bridge

"Commander Baphomet, I have been doing some calculations on your shift jump plan and I beleive it may need some tweeking.
The drive system using a hyper accelerated anti-energy partical to acheive Null space travel corret?
Well if we just flast them with it they will recover quickly, however if we encase the fleet and the station in a field created from these particles we should pull a houdini on the Na'jigat.
The schematics are on this padd.  Please review them and let me know what you think."

Freeman hands the padd over to Baphomet which indicates a configuration utilizing the main deflector on each vessel in the fleet.

"As for the human variable, the Gallifreyan can hid our energy patterns from the Na'jigat.  Then we take section 3 of the Rivendell, your shuttle, and the scorpian out with energy signitures to account for the fleet and the station and, in theory, at the least the Na'jigat will beleive we are moving the station."

Morgan and Baphomet are discussing the ZPE when the call comes in to an otherwise empty bridge.
Morgan Raises an eyebrown in true Vulcan style.

Interesting, that is the first time I have been called back for R&R.  Open a channel to the station

=A= Frontier this is Rivendell =A=
We are assisting in the cleanup of Avalon and then will be returning to the station. Is all well there?

"Commander sensors indicate Frontier Station is powering weapons."

Baphomet had no time for the chain of Command and new that the Rivendell's Shiftdrive could not be traced and even with an Antimatter/Matter Reactor could power an Interdimensional Portal.

To Computer: "Override Helm control, power Shiftdrive."
Her Vulcan mind was working overtime calculating safe jump coordinates.

"Computer set Hexadecimal Vector Coordinates: 48 61 6C 66 20 61 20 6C 69 67 68 74 20 79 65 61 72 20 66 72 6F 6D 20 46 72 6E 74 69 65 72 20 53 74 61 74 69 6F 6E engage."

The forced gravimetric flux from the Rivendell's engines, as the Shiftdrive engaged caused time on board to slow down.

A quantum burst emitted from the nacelles, as the Rivendell slipped out of normal space, slipping back into normal space 0.5 Light years from Frontier Station.

As the Shiftdrive powered down, time on board the Rivendell returned to normal.

"Commander I appologise for acting, but Frontier Station was seconds away from destroying the Rivendell.
It appears that the events that are unfolding on the station, have gotten out of hand."

"Aye, Commander."

Baphomet, designer of the Shift-Drive would have been pleased with herself, if she were not a Vulcan.
Years of studying nearly every part of Subspace and coming up with a device which could manipulate all those subatomic particles and energies that exist within Subspace, more often than not failing in the attempt, but finally having her efforts come into fruition, ready to be shown to the Federation, then being told by the V'Shar and the High Command to not present it to Starfleet at all, well any other species in the cosmos might be a little miffed at that.

So Baphomet placed the unit in her personal Shuttle afforded to her by the V'Shar, knowing that logically a situation out here on the frontiers of known space (As far as humans are concerned) would present itself and the Shift-Drive would be needed, who wouldn't want an infallible means of travelling instantaneously anywhere in Space and time?

===RED ALERT===

"Commander, Shields at 100% and the Shift Drive is at stand by"

*Sickbay*

As we had picked up a far ammount of the survivors of the ships that had been distroyed I was working feverishly to get as many of them to live.

Shortly after I started I knew there were a goodly number that would die. A smaller number than that actually did die but still the information needed to be past up the chain so that their families could find out from Starfleet that their service had brought them distinction but un fortunately it also brought them death.

Computer record the death toll and the names of those that Died. Send it to Commander Freeman asthe Officer commanding this ship until Captain Taurik's return.

The computer Beeped and snet the message to the bridge station at which Commander Freeman was sitting.

"The Station can move to a new system by itself now Commander, it has a Shift-Drive.
It can simply emit the Gravimtric pulse through the Deflector shield array, sir."

Baphomet continues...

"The only real forseeable problem is a matter of power, fusion reactors do produce enough power to generate a Portal, might I sugest, setting up a Zero Point Energy Converter to power the Shift-Drive and then inevitably the station."

OOC: The benefits of having a Zero Point Energy converter are numerous, but the most importatant is an endless supply of clean and powerful, non destructive, energy production that is greater in out put than an Antimatter/Matter reactor or Quantum Singularity combined.

Baphomet starts to feel a little uncomfortable by the inference of Morgan's question.

"We Vulcans usually keep most of our lives secret, especially when it comes to lesser races in the galaxy. As you know, in Vulcan culture we are paired at a young age, I ... have no pair.
That is why I had to take on a more androgyne name, apart from not being able to bare. . .
I guess...Comman...Morgan, do you find me...err...interesting at all?"

She looked away, not being able to maintain eye contact anymore.

Baphomet followed Freeman and Matthews to her shuttle in shuttle bay one.
She overroad the security lock out and the entry gantry folded down.

"Computer, initiate pre-launch start up sequence and begin pre-flight check."

As Morgan and Matthews made themselves comfortable in the rather spacious shuttle, which is reasonably larger than a runabout, Baphomet initiated launch, opened the shuttle bay door, as the shuttle left the Rivendell at full impulse.

The shuttle rocked slightly as they passed through the subspace threshold of the USS Rivendell, which was warping to Frontier station.
Baphomet was slightly amused by the thought that her shuttle could be at Frontier station before the Rivendell.

"Computer, set hexadecimal vector coordinates: 58 61 6E 74 68 69 61 and engage the Shiftdrive."

The Vulcan prototype shuttle, the Kelata, gave off a subspace pulse from the nacelles and phased into Interdimensional and then back to normal space at the designated coordinates.

Mr. Matthews' jaw was open with an extremely shocked look on his face, of which Morgan could only grin at.
Baphomet turned around to report their arrival and raised her eyebrow at the look on Matthews' face.

"Interesting, Commander we have arrived and it seems our intruder has already left there is an ID portal signature, not far from our present location."

They arrive at there destination standing closer together the senior officers should as 3 ensigns stand waiting to use the lift.

"Computer, transport fighter Sp1 to the shuttle maintanance bay."

The transporter rematerilizes the fighter just as the two enter the bay.

"Shall we?"

Morgan waits for Baphomet to begin first.

"It is hard for emotional beings to bond with us Vulcans, I fear that I will not matter to you anymore."

Doctor Who, or the Doctor for short, was at the central console of his TARDIS knowing full well that he was being followed.
The TARDIS's sensors registered a Shift event and could read a Gravimetric 'ghost', but could not pin point it's location.

"Hmm interesting tactic."

The Doctor went to the otherside of the central console and examed the read outs, after a moment he decided to stay put and see what they did next.
Ready to come to their assistance if needed, but being so close to Gallifrey, he could not let the High Council pick up the other vessels presence.

Taurik paced carefully about the bridge, contemplating his place in this upcoming battle. He was a starship captain, and his presense on the bridge was important. On the other hand, he was a Sentinel, and his assistance against the Na'jigat would be invaluable.

"Captain," Commander Baphomet said suddenly. "They are arriving. I am detecting immense psionic readings."

"On screen," Taurik said. The space on the screen looked calm for a moment, but gained a slight violet tint as the Na'jigat clusters moved into the area.

Out of nowhere, a small, golden vessel flies out of warp and right through the Na'jigat, and stops.

"Captain," Baphomet said without delay. "I'm reading the vessel's composition as unknown. We've never seen them before."

As if in answer to her statement, more vessels of varying class began to arrive in the same manner. One at first, then more. Tens made way to hundreds.

"They are powering weapons," the science officer stated calmly.

Taurik stared at the screen in subtle surprise, and addressed the fleet. "Captain Taurik to the fleet," he said, pausing before continuing.

"Battlestations."

Baphomet raised her hand up to her shoulder and placed it on Morgans.

"Although I believe it to be logical for all Expansion Fleet vessels to have the ZPE converter and Shift-Drive, I believe Captain Taurik thinks differently, so this will be the last vessel that will have the ZPE converter and Shift-Drive, to continue would be illogical."

She then placed the Shift-Drive in stand-by mode and prepared for the docking sequence, once cleared to do so.

OOC: I invented the Shift-Drive, as I was researching Quantum Physics, String-Theory and M-Theory and of course I fell in love with the idea of Zero-Point Energy and believed it would be the best way to power a Starship, due to the fact Antimatter/Matter reactors are so prone to destruction.
Also ZPE is clean, there are no waste by-products what so ever and as long as the Universe (or Multiverse) exists, so will ZPE.
Just thought I would let you know of the background of these two new technologies and also to say it is not infalible, anything that can block Subspace energy, will render the Shift-Drive inoperable.

Baphomet was completely taken by surprise, but liked it more than she will ever admit.

"That is okay Commander, I know of th human pentiant for emotional outbursts."
Continues...

"Now all that is required is a test, if you would like to test it now it makes no difference that the Rivendell is at warp and at Warp 4, it will take the Rivendell several days to get to Frontier Station."

"It would be logical if I piloted the fighter while you monitored the Scorpions systems while Shifting, shall we."

Vulcans do not under any circumstances show affection, although it is not unheard of especial in an interspecies relationship...being the logical thing to do of course.

Vulcans also do not believe in luck, it has no basis in reason, but certain species (humans included) are superstitious about such things.

Having known that, Baphomet then kissed Morgan affectionately on the cheek.
"For luck."

OOC: The coolest thing about using Shift-Drive, apart from the near instantaneous travel, is that it creates an Interdimensional Portal, so there is no need to open Shuttle bay doors :)
A Shift-Drive is also Universe, in the respect that no matter your desired version of travelling FTL, the Shift-Drive can do it.
This is possible simply because of the Shift-Drives capability of of travelling Interdimensionally.

Baphomet remembered reading about candles, being popular at the dinner table, so she placed three lit T'Larn candles in the centre of the table.

"Computer, reduce lights by 30 per cent."

=^= All Federation stations and ships within reach to receive this message =^=
This is Flag Admiral Vorak speaking. We have recently received word that an attack on Avalon Station is impending. The enemy in this case, is the Na'jigat, a species that exist of pure mental energy and thus are unable to be killed by conventional weapons. Also shields are useless. Read more about the Na'jigat, their strength and weakness, in the database at http://www.expansionfleet.com/cgi-bin....najigat . Thank you.

This is a call for all ships of all divisions, with a request for military assistance to the highest possible degree. Avalon Station is about to be attacked soon, and the impact will be grave. Please send all available ships to Avalon Station. If this station falls, then the position of Starfleet and the Federation in the Delta Quadrant will become unstable.

Any ships arriving at Avalon Station may report their arrival to Avalon Station's Ops here http://www.expansionfleet.com/cgi-bin....=50;r=1 in Avalon Station Operations > Station Ops > topic "The Battle of Avalon".

The turbolift doors open to expell Freeman on the bridge.

"Commander Baphomet and Lt Matthews.  Riddle me this.  The Gallifreyan vessels where out of phase until they cleared the energy suckers threshold right.  What if we do the same thing to Avalon Station.

If all of the ships expell Bertaron rays at the station so that its clouded with them.   The station raises its shield on a reverse polarity, and then we fire a 35 second blast from the Deflector full of shift drive particals.  It would push the station out of phase until they lowered its shields.

I see only 3 problems with it.
1.  The Rivendell's deflector whould most likey burn out.  But we can seperate and then use section 2 or 3 to fire the burst.
2.  An inverted shield does not protect anything from conventional weapons fire.
3.  The rest of the fleet would still have 0 protection from the energy cloud.

Opinions people!!!"

*Rasmain was laying beneath one of the OPS consoles on the Skytoucher's bridge and was trying to get some sort of communication working again. The ship was heavily damaged and almost all of her systems were down. The bridge was lighted by red and white flashing lights. Rasmain had made several efforts of repairing a system but it seemed that after repairing one, another one failed on him. He knew that he had to keep on going because failure wasn't an option. There were still several crewmembers alive on this ship and they needed to be saved. Many of them were trying to find a way to the bridge, but as there was no power and several ways were blocked, their journey would last long.*

"Acces de...nied. Ac...ces denied" *The computer voice said*

"Damn! Even the computer's vocal subroutines are giving up on me. What's next?"

*At that moment the ship shaked and Rasmain bumped his head to the console*

"I knew that it wouldn't be the smartest question to ask, damn"! Let's get going again."

*After he had modified and repaired several subroutines again, he found the console above his head working*

"Finally! Let's try to find out why we are not rescued already."

*Rasmain began to work*

"Sensor's are beyond repairs, so I can't even determine our position nor the condition of station Avalon. Let's try if I can sent an audio message on a low band frequency, something the Na'jigat hopefully won't detect as they might still be out there."

=A= This is Commander Rasmain from the USS Skytoucher =A=

"Can anyone receive me? If so, this ship is in need of assistance. There are several survivors onboard but we are unable to get to the escapepods and launch them. Can anyone read me....over"

*Rasmain sat down and waited. The only thing he could do was wait, making up a damage report would only be frustrating. The Skytoucher seemed as good as dead.*

He paused for a moment to extract a box from his jacket's pocket.

"Even more, you lost an arm in that defense. As such, Starfleet Command is proud to present you with the Starfleet Red Crest, for recieving irreparable injury in the line of duty. Congratulations, Captain."

OOC: The Rivendell already has a Shift-Drive, but if you want to limit it's use, don't install the ZPE converter therefore it can only be used for short jumps.
But the benefit of having a Shift-Drive is you can explore the entire galaxy and beyond, allowing for trillions of story possibilities not limited to Warp travel which would take that many years to do so, your choice. :)

My shuttle has a Shift-Drive with a tritanium hull, what I am suggesting in essence is to give the Na'Jigat a migrane, the energy output of the Rivendell per mass capitor is too high, but my shuttle should be able to achieve this."

Baphomet had returned from her quarters to start her rostered shift, just as Nesbitt's desperate Subspace transmission was being displayed on the main viewer.
She logged in and then began to look over the sensor data, since her last shift.

"Ships sensors have recorded no anomalous data, perhaps what ever it is is an illusion...sir, given our close proximity to Avalon Station, this would be the most logical answer, or it is beyond this vessels capabilities."

"Shift events, remain detectable for 12 hours, but another event can only be detected from the exit Portal location."

Baphomet thought for a minute.

"The interesting thing is, that this vessel has a Shift drive, departed from here cloaked and departed from here 500, 000  meters from the Rivendell."

Baphomet looked at the sensor logs, from last she viewed the logs to before she logged off.
One thing caught her eyes, that she could not believe that she had missed.

Someone had Transportered on to USS Rivendell at 0023 hours, also Psionic energy was detected on most levels of the ship, even Baphomet's quarters and the bridge.
The energy signature seemed to end at Baphomet's shuttle and Morgan's altered Scorpion attack fighter.
Then seemed to Transport off the vessel, or more accurately Teleport.

"It seems the Psionic energy, masked the individual and stopped the computer from alerting the crew."

OOC: I appologise for posting for others, but with the Na'Jigat almost at Avalon I believe it prudent.
IC: Mr. Freeman, a little miffed at Baphomet arrived at Engineering and gave her a hand with the Shift-Drive. Any mis-givings disapated and turned to ore as they started adapting his NEW TOY to the Rivendell's Warp-core.
After replacing the INS generators and upping the power out put, they began to attach the ID Shift Generator to the Warp core, leading off then to the Nacelles, taking breaks when required.
Ten hours later, with more than a few blisters and aching muscles, the Shift-Drive was installed.
When the few engineering staff that was conned into giving a hand had left, Baphomet and Freeman looked at each other, their time together in one body obviously in mind, congratulated each other.
All that was needed now is for the Shift Drive to be tested.
Baphomet turned away from Freeman feeling a little uncomfortable, the Vulcan equivelant of anyway, and addressed the Computer.
"Computer bring the Warp Core online and monitor for any power fluctuations."
COMPUTER: ACKNOWLEDGED.
The Warp core began to power up, as it did so did the Shift, which began to hum with power.
COMPUTER: WARP CORE OPERATING WITH IN NORMAL PERAMETERS, NO POWER FLUCTUATIONS DETECTED.
"The Shift Drive is all yours now sir."
With that Baphomet headed for the Science Station on the Bridge.

*The battle becomes more fierce than ever... The Heraan and Na'jigat continue to attack from every corner and the Gallifreyans are no longer strong enough to fight them all... Sentinels such as Taurik do their best as well, but also see they are losing field... All the Starfleet ships continue to fight on the frontlines, but suffer heavy damage and many losses. Several ships had been exploded, and many more Starfleet officers have been killed in the battle... On the viewscreen at ops on Avalon Station, the admirals watch powerless how the battle is turning more and more into their disadvantage, how their fine officers are sacrificing themselves on the frontlines while there is not even the slightest hope for victory... Defeat is apparent, and utter destruction seems unavoidable. But even if Starfleet surrendered, the Heraan and the Na'jigat would not stop their incursions, but continue to ravage everything until they had sucked up the last of the energy and left behind but a hollow graveyard. Was this how it was all supposed to end? The whole Starfleet project at the borders of the Delta Quadrant, that had thrived there for several years? Then, suddenly, the unexpected happened. Just when the Na'jigat and the Heraan was going to launch their final attack, something makes them hesitate... They become restless... What is happening? Are they planning something? Is something else drawing their attention? Or did something happen that stirred their fear? After some long, silent moments of hesitation, they suddenly withdraw in haste, and hurry away deeper into the Delta Quadrant, as if something was chasing them, or had called for them... What could it be? Obviously, a mysterious. But a mysterious that saved Expansion Fleet at the utter brink of destruction! Within minutes, there was no sign of the Na'jigat or Heraan any more, they were entirely gone... The battle was over, but the victory was hollow...*

On:  After spending a few hours in sickbay following the doctors orders

"Doc, I am sorry I disobeyed your orders, it will not happen again and I will continue to wear this alert sensor.

Freeman heads to Engineering where he runs a few simulations with the shift drive then heads to the Bridge.

"Captain, I believe I have an idea of how to deal with the impending attack on Avalon.
The Na'jigat thrive on energy so we give them what they want."

Freeman looks at Baphomet and see's a look of inpatience.

"I have been working on a craft called the scorpion for the past few days.  This fighter was originally designed by the Corps of Engineerings to provide the borg with a tempting technological target and then deal with them.  Its hull is made up of a Tritranium layered composite capible of deflecting incoming energy.
It also has another armor layer that can incompus the entire ship
Off: (kinda like Admiral Janeways shuttle in the last voyager)

It also has a EM generation system which projects around the hull making the ship look bigger and more tempting then a starbase.
Sir, I can have the fighter finished in a few hours and then when the attack begins you and I could fly out into by the Na'jigat cloud and power down the station.  In theory they should follow us.  Then when they get close enough we could shift drive ourselves to another location with the Na'jigat cloud."

Morgan stands in front of Taurik awaiting his answer.

Baphomet began working at her station, already her Vulcan mind was running variables, calculations and propabilty formulae, faster than any human or even the computer can manage.
After a minute...
"Captain, I may have an idea, as the Na'jigat feed off energy any form of energy as Fleet Admiral Vorak reported.
Then I suggest an absence of energy, the only way to achieve that is by creating a null void, of which the Shif- Drive creates to travel through an Interdimensional Shift, the only obstacle is to create a Shift-event large enough and long enough to hold the Na'jigat away from the station for you and Ambassador Vurak to do what ever you need to do."
"The other obstacle is the two Shift-Drive's we have are not enough to create a big enough Null-void, but if all vessels here and Avolon are equiped with Shift-generators it might be enough, to hold the line as it were."
OOC: A soliton wave generator would take too long to install, but the Shift-Drive uses pre-existing systems and if all the engineering crews work together they can get them installed.
This is a suggestion, but isn't it logical :)

Baphomet, had a restless sleep last night after having nightmarish vision in her sleep, that she could not make any logical sense of.
The nightmare was of the human interpretation of Hell, or at least based on the literature Baphomet had read, which included "Dante's Inferno", "Paradise Lost" etc.
Being frightened for the first time in her entire 71 years of life and therefore had to meditate early in the morning before having a long and refreshing Sonic-shower.
Leaving her quarters, Baphomet headed for the ships Ten-forward still a little uneasy felt she needed the comfort of companionship.
Ordering a type of Vulcan muesli, sat at an empty table near her fellow crewmembers.
After finishiing her breakfast of  K'Tiar muesli and Spice-tea, headed for the turbolift and to the bridge.

Exiting the turbolift she headed to her Station, preoccupied, she was there in time to see Captain Taurik Teleport off the Bridge.

Baphomet adding the Fighters dimesions to the Size to Energy output algorithms into the datastream and then activated the Replicator.

On the Molecular Cohesion Platform, two devices slowly came into being.
One was cylindrical with a transparent partition in between to Metallic looking outer casings, it looked not unlike a more futuristic version of a 20th century fuse from earth.
The other being the Shift-Drive and a smaller version of the one currently attached to the Antimatter/Matter reactor of the Rivendell.

=^= Avalon Station to the Fleet =^=
This is Flag Admiral Vorak speaking. I would like to thank all those who have answered our distress call so swiftly, for your presence here at Avalon Station. It takes courage to stand at the frontline, facing an enemy that apparently cannot be defeated, but we cannot stand by and face our own destruction without defending ourselves.

The battle to come may appear hopeless, but it is not. The Gallifreyans have left us with valuable information regarding some weaknesses of the Na'jigat. Since the Na'jigat is unable to travel through space at a speed faster than light, anything related to warp speed can make it a little more difficult for them. But do not misunderstand me here, for any kind of explosions or anti-matter bombs will only fuel the Na'jigat, and make them stronger. They are able to feed of any energy in existence. But light speed can be used to our advantage.

Gather warp particles, which are emmitted by your starships while travelling at warp speed, and use these particles in your shielding and station's structural integrity. I am aware that this is not easy to do, but if your scientists and engineers work together, it may be possible.

Another option is the Soliton Wave, a subspace wave of energy that does not diminish and obtains warp speeds... This could be used to drive back the Na'jigat, and though it will not damage them, it may cause the Na'jigat cloud to disperse and become separate clouds that are therefore less powerful and don't have the ability to communicate with one another.

We have two agents among our ranks of the Order of Gallifrey, including captain Taurik of the U.S.S. Rivendell, who are the only ones able to defeat - though not destroy - the Na'jigat. If we are able to disperse the Na'jigat clouds, making them less powerful, we give Taurik and ambassador Vurak the ability to defeat them more easily.

These are the only options available to fight the Na'jigat. Abandon your phasers, torpedoes or shields. They will be useless to you, and worse, make the enemy even stronger.

Here are my final orders. All the ships will take a battle formation, surrounding Avalon Station. You MUST hold that position as long as possible, and prevent the Na'jigat from breaking through the lines. I appoint three people on Avalon Station to be in charge of the entire operation. Those three people are admiral Montrell, admiral Karelia and Major Embries. Furthermore, I appoint captain Taurik as captain of the fleet, commanding the fleet from space. If communications with Avalon Station break down, you will follow his orders first.

The Na'jigat will most likely be here within a few hours. I want all ships and crew to be prepared. Live long and prosper.

Very well considering Commander. At first I thought I might lose him but slowly over the time he has spent in sickbay his recovery seems to be getting better but he still hasn't returned to consciousness yet. That is worrying becasue there seems to be no reason for his continued coma.

As i heard the Captain call off all hands to battle station I send out to teams to set up an aid post in Engineering and one in Shuttle Bay 2. Then started Transporting some few medical supplies to those areas. Then went about making sure they were able to work independantly or as a conjunctive team so that the normal sickbay was dealing with the worse cases that would need surgery.

*Rasmain stared into the distance. He was thinking of the other crewmembers that had given their lives to defend SS Avalon. He had commanded them into various missions and even knew several of them personally.*

"So SS Avalon has survived again, but for how long. This will be a black page in our historybooks, it's just just......"

*The commander stops for a moment and then continues*

"Captain, I have one final request. Can the Skytoucher be towed into SS Avalon? And don't let anyone enter it before the bodies are retrieved and all accounted for. Those officers deserve a proper funeral as they have fought for our survival"

OOC: Okay children, play nice :D
If there is a high priority mission for the Rivendell, then that is what we will do, there is no need to get upset is there.
Hmm, should have been a mediator  :D

Baphomet reasoned that seeing as the Admirals were not at this location and there was no trail to follow, then the logical course of action would be to return to the Rivendell.

Conferring with Commander Freeman, it was agreed.

"computer set Hexadecimal vector co-ordinates: 41 76 61 6C 6F 6E, initiate Shift."

Moments later the Scorpion Attack Shuttle was just outside the USS Rivendell, ready to dock.

=A=Scorpion-1 to USS Rivendell=A=

Baphomet had never dated a human before and was not sure on how to behave and what say.

"Thank you Morgan, so do you."

One thing she did know was that talking about your profession was not only illogical, but a sure way to kill a relationship.

"I hope your dinner is to your liking Morgan, I was unsure of what you consider to be palatable."

The rest of the meal was had in silence, apart from the occasional tid bit of random thoughts, compliments and other such nuiances performed by a pair not knowing the right thing to say.

Dessert was next and even though Vulcans do not eat sweets, Baphomet tried some of Morgans Double chocalate, choc-chip icecream, of which after being in her mouth for no more than a second, ended up on the floor of her quarters.

With Baphomet coughing and drinking water and trying not to embaress herself, looked up to Morgan who was giggling through the whole affair.

She raised an eye, at Morgan, who then tried his best to conceal his amusement.

Later on in the evening, they sat together on the couch drinking Vulcan spice tea, of which Morgan had secretly placed about five lumps of sugar into it when Baphomet had gone to get another cup.

Baphomet looked into his eyes and raised her left hand with the index and middle finger extended, Morgan hesitated for a moment unsure of what to do, until She gently grabbed his wrist and extended his index and middle fingers to mirror her own.
She then prceeded to move her fingers slowly up and down and on top of his own fingers......

Baphomet bowed her head at Commander Freeman (Thinking: He has determination, I'll give him that).
Baphomet then looked to Captain Taurik after he called Battle-readiness.

"Science station standing by Captain, Shift-Drive powered up and standing by, diverting control to the helm."

Baphomet's console got her attention with a chime.

"Captain, Psionic energy detected."
"The resenance is akin to that of the Gallifreyans, location unknown."

After reporting events Baphomet then came quitely up to the Captain.

"Sir, it would be prudent to get you to my shuttle, as the last line of defence, it would be perceived as less of a threat to the Na"jigat."

"Shall I also power up the Shift-Drive?" Baphomet contued, more as an after thought.

Baphomet looked at Lt. Cmdr. O'Neil with a slightly amused look on her face.

"Mr. O'Neil Chronoton particles and as you stated, anti-Chronoton particles, were a Federation invented particle to explain the Gravitational effect and anomolous quantum particles of Temporal Displacement.
They themselves are not a tangable Subatomic particle and therefore not applicable in this situation."

Baphomet continued...

"The Na'jigat are a Bio-genic lifeform, for lack of a better explaination, which exhibit the same properties as several individual neural networks, that feed off all forms of energy; Whether they have a positive or negative polarity and whether that energy is bio-electric or any other forms of energy in the universe."

"This is why we are trying to produce a null void, or as it also can be explained as zero energy."

"All Escape pods and Shulltes from the Essex are on board Commander."

"Welcome aboard Ensign Mayweather...By the sounds of it, these Dark PSI Warriors used the Security Protocols and Command Subroutines to make this Fractal so we will start there."

30 minutes had passed, Baphomet had gone through the entire Source Code and Subroutines of the Command and Security software, shoring them up with an altered form of V'Shar security algorithms and multi-functional backup paging files, to create a virtual barrier on top of the already existing Firewalls and Security protocols.
She also added an Intrusion Countermeasure AIBot, programmed to seak out and eliminate any and all infected sectors of the Main Computer Core.

One hour later...

"Depending on their skill, this will protect the Main Computer Core, logically we should be able to prevent a repeat of what happened to the Essex."

"Was there anything else you saw them use Ensign?"

OOC: I will let you guys decide if Ransom is alive, just bare in mind he should be aboard if he was in the Escape pods or Shuttles. :)

"Avalon Station, reverse shield Polarity"

To Rivendell crew

"All hands stand by for Shift-Drive activation through deflector control."

Baphomet then initiated the Shift-Drive as Avalon Station reversed Shield polarity.

"Fire."

A gravimetric energy pulse was emitted from the Deflector Dish.
Avalon Station blurred and then promptly vanished.

Baphomet then looked at her readouts.

"Avalon station is in tact and holding in a Subspace bubble, effectively cloaked, shutting down the Shift-Drive."

OOC: Sorry I sought of took over there, but this particular story arc has been hanging around for ages.
But with Taurik not here and many of the vessels Decomissioned, it would be more logical to proceed with a NEW story arc, would it not?

Morgan tried very hard not to laught when Baphomet spat out the Ice cream worried that he might in some way offend her but it did succeed in lightening his mood.
Then the Tea and he began to wonder if his desision to eat really flavorable foods had been a mistake.

At the Science Station, Baphomet had been viewing the sensor logs for the night, a habit she always did no matter what.
This ritualistic behavior was the catalyst that allowed a young 69 year old Vulcan to discover what, she later called, the Shift Effect.
A transphasic Subspace signiture that occured when an Interdimensional Portal was either opening, open, or had been just closed.
Strangly enough, the Shift effect signiture was what she was looking at right now.
Baphomet new of only one other species that uses Interdimensional technology, the Gallifreyans.
As she was pondering this enigma, her console signaled a private message and display Morgan's communication to her.
She touched the [Reply] key option on the LCARS display and  sent the following message in return:

**PVT TXT MSGE FROM MAIN SCIENCE STATION TO MAIN ENGINEERING STATION**

[[I find you very interesting too Morgan and yes, when a bonding Mind Meld is performed during Kun-ut Kali-fi, some personality traits are exchanged temporarily, as well as being able to read each others minds.]]

**END MESSAGE**

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After sending the message to Morgan, Baphomet went back to the conundrum of the Interdimensional signiture.
Of which according to the sensor logs, occured at 0235 hours  this morning and was approximately 500 000 meters off the port bow.
"Yes, Commander"
Morgan and Baphomet took the turbolift to the Shuttle deck, then to Shuttle bay one.
Once aboard the 'Kelata' Baphomet initiated the launch sequence.
=A=Shuttle Kelata to Bridge=A=
"We are ready to go and are initiating launch sequence"
=A=Kelata out=A=
The Vulcan shuttle glided out of the Shuttle bay, when it was clear, Baphomet activated the Ablative armor.
Baphomet set the shuttle on a course for Frontier Station at full impulse, as she worked with the navigation system for the jump.
A moment later she had the results.
"Computer set Hexadecimal Vector Coordinates 46 72 6F 6E 74 69 65 72 20 53 74 61 74 69 6F 6E 20 2D 20 4D 61 69 6E 20 43 61 72 67 6F 20 48 6F 6C 64, once shift is complete cloak as soon as possible......Engage."
To Freeman and Baphomet, space in front of them blurred and space was replaced by the walls of the Main Cargo Hold when focus resumed.
COMPUTER: SHIFT COMPLETE
The ship then cloaked......
"It seems we have not been detected yet, Commander."
Baphomet with her Vulcan ears heard every word Mr. Freeman said.
Baphomet went up to Freeman, when he walked away from the Captain.
"Commander, instead of a Quantum singularity, which has the same power output as an Antimatter/Matter reactor, perhads you would be interested in the Zero Point Energy converter, I have recently talked about."
"The power accessable from using a ZPE converter, has never been measured, let us just say, that all the beings of the universe would be envious."
We may be able to get one good transport out of the shuttle before it activates a inhibitor so, I am going to run a scan of the locations for the command staff we need answers."
Morgan goes to the science station and starts to run a low intensity scan of the station getting the following results.
*Admiral Tom Hobson = Operations
Admiral James Madison =Operations
Admiral Richard Ransom = Operations
Admiral Dean Starwind = Infirmary (Low Life signs)
Admiral Vincent Garhart = Computer Core
Captain William Richerd = Infirmary
Dr Valen StarChaser = Infirmary
Commander Weasley Cook = Corridor 175A Off of Computer Core
End report*
Morgan turns to Baphomet
"It looks like they are trying to fix a computer problem.   I will beam to the Computer core to help Admiral Garhart and you beam to operations and let them know that we are here and see what help you can be there.  Let me modify the comm badges so the route through the shuttle that way we will be able to communicate independantly of the stations systems."
Freeman pulls out his portible engineering kit and modifys both his and Baphomet's comm badges in a few moments.
"Alright, I have deactivated the subroutine that would route us through the stations sytems and amped up the power to both units.  Basically we won't be able to communicate with anyone but each other.
Lets go.  Take a compression Phaser Rifle just for security and lets get going."
Well Commander working as I do with bugs and other paracites in the body and occassionally outisde the body to find out what will kill them or at least make them retreat to the point of not killing something. I need to find something that will make them do that. In the twentith Century sir Doctors discovered something that did that. It was Penicillin but unfortunately sir they over used it on many bugs. Those bugs mutated to be immune to Penicillin, so I suppose my best information is find something that makes the cloud that we fight with increasing regulatiry now is find a few things that make it retreat and use them on a short term rotating basis.
OOC: Well Morgan Freeman and I have taken my Shuttle to Frontier Station, we did try to dock there with the Rivendell but the stations computer, which has been taken over by some sort of bio-energy entity tried to destroy the Rivendell.
I engaged the Rivendell's Shiftdrive (even though it is powered by an Antimatter/Matter reactor, you can make a 1 light year jump) and made a 0.5 of a light year jump from the station.
The reason we took my shuttle is due to the fact it has a cloaking device and is small enough to SHIFT into the main cargo hold.
That's pretty much it at the moment, hope you can finally stay online.
There will be another mission coming up in regards to the USS Evolution, but seeing as we were heading to Frontier Station anyway, it would be remiss of us not to lend a hand.
"Let us meet in engineering in an hour and see if we can inhance the ships systems."
Morgan see's Baphomet's nervousness.
"Are you upset wih what happened?"
"Aye Commander and yes it does."
To Computer: "Activate ablative armor and raise shields, charge the Meson Canons and load the Quantum torpedo launcher, go to yellow alert."
COMPUTER: ACKNOWLEDGED.
Baphomet then motioned for Mr. Matthew's to take a seat at the tactical/Operations console accross from her on the semi-circle designed, forward console bay.
She proceeded to sho him how to operate the targeting sensors and how to apply the two bow, Meson canons to rotate seperately, or to be linked.
The Quantum torpedo launcher is basically a standard set up, common to most know vessel types.
When she had finished giving Mr. Matthews instruction on the Tactical/operations layout, Baphomet went back to her seat at the Conn.
"Computer, scan the phased subspace signature and give me the precise coordinates, the other vessel is travelling too."
COMPUTER: HEXADECIMAL VECTOR COORDINATES OF PERSUED VESSEL ARE: 47 61 6C 6C 69 66 72 65 79, WITH ADDITIONAL TEMPORAL COORDINATES: 1001100 X 02 FROM GALACTIC CENTRE.
PLANET GALLIFREY.
"Computer, lower shields and activate the Gravimetric cloak, lock into those coordinates and activate the Shiftdrive."
The shuttle, Kelata, phased out of Interdimensional in the Gallifreyan system and appeared to not be detected.
A few moments after Commander Freemans call I came running onto the bridge going straight to him.
"Is there something wrong Commander Freeman. a headache maybe. Or did you want me on the bridge for someother reason."
Baphomet, knowing that humans have a pentient for dermal contact with the mouth, reciprecated Morgan's affectionate kiss.
She remained quiet during breakfast, partly because it is illogical to have a conversation while eating and partly because she couldn't think of anything to say until after the meal.
"It seems that the Rivendell is not required for anything at the moment, so it would be logical to use this lull to enhance the performance of this vessel, would it not."
"Either that, or I can show you how to pilot my shuttle 'the Kelata" and how to use the Shift-Drive."
OOC: In other words, take it out for a spin, park near a lake...Err...nebula  :D
"Lay in a course and engage.  Also take us to yellow alert.  I assume that your ship has some weapons on it?  Can you firmilurize Mr. Matthews with the weapons console?"
OOC: To clear it up for me and Madison, neither of us knew about the 'kidnapping' side thing, nor did either of us want to be involved in it. Because of that mess, I expected nothing and knew nothing, if I am part of the 'they' you refer to.
"Any theories as to what might be causing it commander?  Lt, any theory's?
The only things I know that will cause subspace fluctuations are inherant warp fields, intense subspace traffic, or a spacial annomally.
How goes the pod pickup?"
(OFF: Yes. they did, but in the process, they interrupted our current mission (which is on higher authority anyway), and expected us to drop everything to heed their beck and call. Considering our current mission has already been planned, I REALLY don't like that.)
"I have been up for 35 minutes, Morgan, I have prepared us breakfast when you are ready."
Baphomet then walks out so that Morgan can properly prepare himself for the day, in the privacy of the bedroom.
