"Yeah, I can see where your mothers point of veiw is coming from.  Being a Marine is the best thing anyone can do.  Because we are the front line fighters of Starfleet.  We are sent in first to all major and minor engagements, we are their to rescue Starfleet personel when they are lost or captured.  Its fun but at the same time its VERY! exciting.  Wouldnt you agree?" John said as he cleaned up his mouth.

Raszagal

As Raszagal sat aboard the Delta-class runabout waiting for it to depart, she ran over her recent retraining with Techerakh in her mind several more times. Something didn't feel right. There was anger on the other side. Powerful anger.

She tossed the thought aside and re-adjusted her phaser and khala on her belt.

"Depends on what you consider fun, sir.  If you think patching up the wounded and trying to save the lives of dieing and critically wounded patiences then deciding which marine has priority then I suppose you should be the combat medic then.  In the field things are worse then on a ship where you have everything you need at your beck and call, down on a planet you have to prepare for what you think may happen and hope it doesnt, and if it does and you dont have what you need then your screwed.  In the field we dont have mobile replicators, even though I think the R&D crew should make one up though.  Small and combat mobile replicator would make my job and setting up a triage ALOT! easier." John said with as much respect as he could muster sense this doctor thinks that people getting hurt is fun.

"So, do you think marines are worth saving or are you just stuck on saving starfleet officers and letting marines die because you got some vendetta against us?" John asked seriously.

((John easily takes offense when people mistreat marines for no reason and thinks people dieing or getting harmed regardless of their organization is fun.  So im going to go with that, otherwise John is alot more jovial then most marines))

=/\= Colonel, if you're ready transport over to the station, the transport room is ready for you. Remember you're going to a STAR FLEET Science station. They haven't responded to our hails yet but that doesn't say you need to destroy the place. Your primary goal is to make contact with Star Fleet personal and to take that Rift Generator with you, good luck and keep me updated, Bode out =/\=

Dolan checked the calculations and then rans a few dozen simulations.  He noted that the forward shields would have to be at maximum and the hull would experience some stress, but unless some bizarre variable came into play, nothing should go wrong.  He also saw that the rift seemed to slowly draw the Lothlorien into it, but since it only happened in two of the simulations, he thought it was a negligable possiblility.  He ran some more scenarios, now with random factors coming in play, but reasonable ones.  He ignored the possibility that a rogue Klingon ship would start attacking the Lothlorien while it held the rift open, along with the one with an asteroid appearing out of nowhere and crashing into the ship.  He noticed that if constant weapons fire came through the rift, which was a definate possibility, and the shields collasped, the Lothlorien would not be able to maintain the rift and with the improper shutdown of the generator while it was creating a rift and the shields were down, there would be hull breaches across the ship.  Dolan made a mental note of that, but still thought many of the scenarios were unlikely.

Lobo_Negro

"Lt Lobo Sir... this was just handed to me by your Commanding Officer, he said it needs to be read and implemented immediately."  Said the Yeoman.

Lobo looked over the PADD and called the Shuttle Bay to attention.

"FALL IN!"
Lobo waits for the Marines and Fleetsman to fall into formation.

Lobo reads from the PADD.

"From: Commanding General Starfleet Marine Forces, Delta Quadrant.

From: Commanding Officer Starfleet Marine Forces, Delta Quadrant.

To: Staff Sgt John Moore Starfleet Marine Forces

ATTENTION TO ORDERS:

*Assembled Personnel snap to attention

Staff Sergeant Moore,

For performance of your duties above and beyond the regular call of duty, your Commanding Officer Colonel Balkazar has requested the following be added to your Service Record.

1.  Promotion to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

As your duties and acts of heroism in the recent emergency Colonel Balkazar has seen fit to recommend your promotion to 2nd Lieutenant.  While Field promotions of this type are usually not permanent, Colonel Balkazar's recommendations have convinced me to allow this exception to tradtion.  Lt Moore, please accept my congratulations on your promotion.  This is a reminder of the value we hold of the highest honors and traditions of the Marines Corps.

Semper Fi,

Commanding General
Starfleet Marine Forces."

Lobo approaches Moore, removes his Staff Chevrons and places them in his pocket, removes the "butter bars" from their case and pins them onto the Lt's collar.

"Congratulations Lieutenant." Lobo grins.  "I guess I need to find a new Platoon Sgt."  Lobo Laughs and shakes the man's hand.

Lobo returns to his original position and addresses the gathered personnel.

"FALL OUT!"

"Ok boys and girls, we still got a lot of work to do.  Congratulate Moore when you have a moment of spare time."

Lobo leans in and speaks quietly to Moore "When this mission is over Lieutenant, meet me outside my quarters.  There's more to this promotion that needs to be explained."

Lobo smiles knowingly and strikes the Lieutenant firmly on the collar bones when noone is looking effecting an old Marine Tradition of "pinning" a recent promotee.
Today, you people are no longer maggots. Today, you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother. Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. That's what were here for. But the Marine Corp lives forever. And that means YOU live forever.
