Don't make that card just yet. Mr. Nesbit won't have the rank of Captain until he goes through the academy.

He has been given a battlefield commission. We are in a situation where we cannot wait for the academy. He will go when we are done with the need of officers.

Apparently they didn't check before introducing it. But thats not my concern. I believe this has been sorted out. I will speak with the academy to see how long it will take. If their isn't an active teacher to do it i will hold him until their is. No need to send him for nothing.

The Academy was introduced to help reduce the number of absent crewmembers on vessels, and to make sure all members have at least a basic knowledge of Expansion procedure and Star Trek history. There was a discussion topic on it in Admiral's only, you could have said something. Nevertheless, it is done, and once Mr. Nesbitt can go to the academy, he will, unless he decides to remain on board as a Private.

didn't notice that, the New York-C shouldn't be re-opened for some time. The Unity is a fine ship and the Blackfire is the next priority. One old alpha ship one old FSS to make the new merged FSS evenly balanced shipwise. I'll have them to you sometime tonight.

Learn how to be in the FSS in an academy? I didn't think there was such a class.
Besides that, I need an XO and crew for the Blackfire in a quick manner. This is very inconvenient.

FSS or not, the Academy is required for officer ranks. However, you can give him whatever position you want.

Ok, hopefully the academy is faster than it was.

What about learning here? Does he have to go all the way to the danged academy and be gone for all the time? It is a major loss to my ship for that to happen. He can learn just as much, even more actually, by learning here as an intern. This is where he wants to be, and we need him with an actual rank. Tha academy is still inconvenient, very inconvenient.  :(

They didn't check before introducing it? I'm not sure what you mean by that.

he will still have the position. I read where the FSS's crew number is not known, or supposed to be. I doubt the academy is standard.

There is no FSS classes in the academy. However, he would take standard classes, just like everyone else. As for a battlefield commission, that's fine, but as soon as it's convenient, he should either return to Private or join the Academy.

If it were so inconvenient, it would not have been introduced. If the FSS is so overstretched that you need one person so badly, you should think about downsizing. Besides, Private is an actual rank, as is every NCO rank.

to see how inconvenient it is. I assume they did not. Or we wouldn't need to go through this. My view is members join to join divisions and ships directly not learn. But its not my view that counts i realize. Only an opinion. again....i believe this is sorted out.
