Messages - Korinas Dal

Iroquois

Korinas had no friends or family to say goodybe to. At least not here. The Obsidian Order had asked her to minimize contact with her family on Cardassia. They had always looked down upon personal attachments and relationships. That was why she had been forced to break up even her relationship with---

No. She was not going to think of that right now.

Fighting the Heraan was in everyone's best interest, even those of Cardassia. She was going to try her hardest. The Order was not going to miss one single thing going on there, on the battlefield. She was aware that she was risking her life, but that was something one got used to after so many times.

On her post, on the bridge, she sat in her chair, waiting.

Korinas had been satisfied with the mission so far. They had succesfully fought off the Borg...and the Federation had the new prototype torpedo that could've been of extreme value to the Obsidian order. The Borg cube had truly come in at right time; as the torpedo was being launched, Korinas had had exactly enough time to ran a quick but complete scan of it and send it to the Order through a secure channel. Erasing her tracks had been no problem for her. Not after all that time of doing it. She had never once gotten caught. She did not intend to change that fortunate habit.

She'd barely withheld a triumphant chuckle(but she had withheld it) when Captain Lollock had decided these torpedoes were to be used as a last resort only. Too dangerous...when it came to weapons, there was an ancient policy-the more dangerous for the enemy the better. Humans...Klingons...Starfleet...were obviously stupid. Not that she was going to underestimate them. Just that their ethics and morality decreased their efficency. Cardassians were going to make a much better use of the torpedo.

After the conflict with the Borg, they had received orders to head back to Space Station Avalon and pick up another package of classified contents. Another piece of data for the Order. Korinas had no problem with it. It was, after all, her job, gathering information.

Julian's Office
The senior staff was ordered to report to the office of Admiral Julian. Korinas followed in right after the Captain, her head high up, as always, in a posture of arrogance most claimed was common to all Cardassians.

"Admiral." She greeted Admiral Julian smoothly, her eyes shifting to Captain Lollock as well, "Captain."

Korinas nodded her head his way. The only reason why she'd insisted on things continuing her way was to create an aura of authority. Of coruse, because she didn't like beiong ordered around by humans, too.

But her true mission had already been accomplished. Even though she, herself, didn't know what was inside that package, the Obisidan Order knew it.

"Understood." She addressed Swift, "Now, let's get to work."

"Agreed. Korinas nodded, turning to Swift, "The decoy sounds excellent. It is definitely going to be used. But I'm sure you will agree with me when I say nobody has to know we've placed the bio scanners in here. I intend on camouflaging them so well a scan would not reveal them. I'd add sensors that would alert us as soon someone did try to scan the room. And the package should remain in this room. We are leaving too much to chance if we leave it unguarded somewhere else. You do agree that plants can be easily destroyed...perhaps even by accident. And if someone suspected we've placed the real package somewhere, they wouldn't believe it was righr here. Naturally, we'd camouflage it. Besides, if anybody did enter, we'd have them surrounded before they got the chance to even see this is a decoy."
This was the procedure any Cardassian would've followed. With all the necessary precautions, tricks and traps. That was why Bajorans should've lost the war. And they would've, had the governments not negotiated peace. Korinas wished they hadn't, for now Bajorans had gotten to  deem themselves much too important than they truly were. Hmph. During the Occupation, they barely dared to state their names. Except for the resistance, from what she'd heard. And they'd pay for it dearly.

U.S.S. Iroquois / Cargo Bay

Korinas Dal entered the cargo bay, a smirk stretching over her oval face. Her first mission onboard the Iroquois. In both meanings of the sentence. For both factions. This made her fel powerful; and she'd always liked that feeling. She knew that power was a strong aphrodisiac, and that it simply was not for some people. But she was certain it was for her, because others had stated that before as well.

A man-a guard was standing in front of an area protected with forcefields. Commander Dal approached him. She noticed the eerie look he gave her, but disregarde it. He'd certainly been informed of the new XO-her; "Ensign. You are temporarily relieved of duty while Lieutenant Swift and I work on improving and upgrading the security of this package."

It was visible the Ensign did not like being ordered around by a Cardassian, but he had to obey, so he nodded his head and walked out of the room.

Making sure that nobody was around, Korinas climbed up to the console. Cardassians truly were masters of security, but they were also masters at avoiding security. With all the codes, it was a peace of cake, but Korinas was still careful. No mistakes were to be made. She masked the transmission she was about to make-no-one was going to be able to detect it. She had been doing such things since she'd finished the Academy.

Disabling the current security system with a few quick moves of her fingertips, the Cardassian did a scan of the package. The information all poured through the secure channel she'd established. She kept her eyes on the timer. Ten...five...two...transfer completed. Korinas erased all the logs and all the traces of it ever happening, quickly placing the security systems back on. Checking the sensors, she saw that she had not been detected and that her transmission had not been intercepted.

As if nothing had happened, she began checking the scurity systems, looking for ways to upgrade them.

I thought that should happen a few missions later LOL

A small smile played on the lips of Commander Dal. She could see it in the Captain's eyes she'd played the role well-Lollock was clearly showing sympathy for her first assignment. That was good. Korinas would've usually made her choice an order, but just in case Lollock or anyone detected someone had sent information away, she couldn't allow any suspicion at all to be on her...and not strictly suspicion concerning that matter. She had to appear realistic.

"Aye, ma'am. She turned to Swift, "We will be following my plan, Lieutenant. Begin installing the scanners. We'll take care of the decoy number two and the leaking of information later."

Perhaps she'd given the command with too much ease...but it was in her nature. She hoped it wasn't going to point a finger of suspicion of any sort on her.

Korinas nodded; Fine. You should have stated what you meant more clearly. I never do know what to expect from humans." This last remark was accompanied by a slight smile. She could joke. She wasn't a Vulcan.

The Captain then entered the room, and Korinas greeted her; "Captain. We've come to agree on one-we'll place sensors and camouflage them so scans would not reveal them. But-Commander Swift seems to doubt the...Cardassian ability to do that properly. So here's where we disagree. I think we should plant a decoy, but also hide the real package within this room and camouflage it as well. Think of it-if you were the intruder, once you discovered a decoy, would you search for the true package in the same room or in another one? And, of coruse, I believe we could pretend we're relocating the package to...your ready room, for example, and let thet information...leak. It would certainly confuse the intruder. I suggest we place sensor into your ready room as well, so we could catch the intruder even if they fail."

Korinas didn't really find Lieutenant's Swift attempts at humor overly amusing, so she barely twitched the corners of her lips. She really didn't have any intention of getting overly friendly with any of the humans, since most of them always repelled her coldly. She was not about to begin wishing for their friendship. Never. Korinas was too proud for that.

"I was thinking something among the lines of installing bio-scanners throughout this area. Once triggered, they would set off a silent alarm the intruder would not notice. That way, we could get to him before he even realized we caught him."

U.S.S. Iroquois / Captains' Ready Room
February 09, 2008, 11:59:09 AM
"Alright Commander, that seems wise. Let's get some sensors in place ans we'll have a gaurd arm it. I'll bring Lieutenant Swift in so we can work out the details in private."

Korinas smiled, nodding her head. This was going just as it was supposed to be going. She didn't find any prejudices within Captain Lollock. That was a rather unusual fact; rare Starfleet Captains would have allowed a Cardassian to work on the security of their very precious cargo. Eve more rare would have been the Klingons who'd have ever done such a thing. How very fortunate for her.

This Lieutenant Swift...she wondered who he was and whether he was going to be a disturbance in this mission. He shouldn't, for she was the one with the higher rank and therefore the one who'd dictate how things would go. Swift couldn't get away with  disobeying direct orders without being court-martialed. Strange, Dal thought, how Starfleet regulations could work for her.

The door opened, and a man entered. Evidently, this was the Lieutenant Swift. He was human, alright. She hadn't yet really concluded whether this was good or bad, but it could easily be the former. Humans were sometimes too trusting and naive. This man seemed...well, he certainly had a touch of arrogance to him. He also appeared relaxed, unlike some officers she'd met...She could remember one Frankson who'd look as if he'd swallowed a stick every time he'd be in front of a senior officer. Dal had despised that.

Waiting for the Captain to make introductions, she nodded her head slightly at Swift.

"Yes, Captain, it does. After a brief pause, she added, with a grin, "Thank you."

Her blue eyes trailed over to Lieutenant Swift; "Lieutenant, I think we should get started. Meet me in the cargo bay ASAP."

Giving orders came naturally to Korinas. Most people found her voice overly audacious and commanding even when she did not wish it to appear as such. When she did, it was even more so. Some disliked that. Her superiors appreciated it, as they always had.

With a nod of greeting to the Captain, she left the ready room.

Korinas knew that she had a few minutes before Lieutenant Swift would appear. She also knew how to make use of them...

Korinas decided it would not really hurt to afford Swift a slight smile, so she did exactly that. It was true that she could be cold with other species...that her people could be cold with other species. But Cardassians were not Vulcans. They did have feelings and they could act with emotion. Actually, Vulcans could get very annoying to Cardassians. Vulcans could get annoying to nearly anyone with their cold logic, though.

Yes, Captain, I'll notify you." She bobbed her head yes,"Of course, I'm going to need the current security codes in order to upgrade the systems. I assume you know them?" She turned to Swift.

Captain Lollock was certainly going to keep a close eye on her...so Korinas intended to make no mistakes. However slight they might be, mistakes could be lethal for planets...let alone individuals.

U.S.S. Iroquois / Captains' Ready Room

Korinas had indeed checked the record of Captain Lollock, and she'd found that they do have simillarities. The Cardassian would always easily bend, if not even break the rules to get things her way. That was why she'd had disciplinary problems at the Academy. She was also unpredictable, had a lot of pride and a fierce temper. She wondered, though, whether those simillarities were going to be an aid or a burden.

This precious cargo; had it been Korinas in the Captain's place, she would've undoubtedly guarded it as well as possible. And that was not good right now, for Dal wanted to know what the cargo was. There was another thing she was no good at-following orders. Especially when she considered them to be stupid. Oh, the orders from her Cardassian superiors were nearly never stupid to her. But Starfleet Orders, and their precious Prime Directive were sometimes so annoying it could kill.

Korinas differed from Lollock because she did not care very much for honor. She did care, but for her own kind of honor. For example, she found it very easy to step over her word. She'd promise something to her enemy in a blink of an eye, swearing she'd keep true to her words, and then she would do otherwise without remorse. Korinas had been told that Klingons despised such traits within Cardassians and that they disliked her species in general. If Lollock was an exception, that was positive.

Korinas was not going to deny she disliked Klingons. She considered their honor obsession stupid at times. But they were easy to manipulate because of their lack of self-control and their very nature. So she coudl go along with them on missions such as this one. Humans were a lot more difficult to manipulate.

"No questions, Captain...just a proposal." Korinas spoke, her voice still cold and rather formal, "If this cargo is so precious, you should let me install extra security systems." Here she produced a short smirk, "Cardassians can be quite...handy with such things." This was true, and everybody knew it-her species were well-known for their fine security.

U.S.S. Iroquois / Captains' Ready Room
February 07, 2008, 08:31:31 AM
Korinas Dal was satisifed with her new assignment. She had expected a high position, but the fact she'd been stationed as Second-In-Command of the Iroquois could not have left even her indifferent. Not that she did not consider herself capable enough of handling the job. She was merely aware of the great opportunity this post was for her. Back home, she had been warned that Starfleet would have prejudices against her people. This had been true up to now...and it was going to continue on that course.

She'd contacted her superior officer on Cardassia Prime yesterday, on a secure channel. He had told her Starfleet must be in serious lack of crewmembers...or simply more trustworthy(and stupid) than they'd thought. However, he hadn't been as surprised as he should've-this meant that he'd never doubted her. Korinas was pleased by that fact.

Now to report to the Captain. Tara Lollock. She'd gathered up some information on her, and she did not strike her as an overly stupid person...for a citizen of the Federation. But there was no reason for the Captain to doubt her except for prejudices(if she had any). Korinas' record clearly stated she'd been born in an orphanage, had always been different from other Cardassian children(she hated stating that part, but she played it well), and that she had no love for the system that had kept her in the wretched place so she'd joined Starfleet.

Korinas stood before the door, and when the bell rang, she heard Captain Lollock speak; "Please, enter." The Cardassian entered, her head high in her usual position. It gave her a look of arrogance; "Commander Dal reporting for duty, Captain." She spoke coolly.
