"Indeed I would sir." Swift said, hoping his outward calm hid his surprise. "I was hoping to go through some command training but if the position needs to be filled quickly or if it is only on the table now then I suppose I can skip it." He wanted to do the command training as it would give him a boost up when it came to advancing. His ambition was to one day be a captain, he wanted that more then he did his next breath. However he wasn't going to pass up a prime position on a starship, he would just have to work a little harder to get ahead.

We covered quite a bit, and you have earned the right to begin your career as a Starfleet officer. But I am aware of your wavering on what you want to do. You entered, and now have credit of completion of Starfleet Medical, but yet you wish to put that aside to persue the Embassy. If that is indeed what you wish to do, you are free to. But I call the meeting with all Cadets to work on placement. I contact the right people, and you get 'out there' and to what you signed up for. So this is the big decision, the final decision as far as starting on a path of preference. You have no diplomatic credit to your name, but you have a good completion of medical. The USS Evolution and USS Rivendell both ships, need solid medical officers. The USS Rivendell needs a good assistant to the chief, the Evolution has a staff of two in the medical department. Starbase Avalon also has positions open in the medical field. As for diplomacy, only the Starbase here has the embassy, with a third placed officer spot open. There is an Embassy CO and XO already in place, with those two, you would not have a full-duty job I would say. The decision is yours, Cadet, but off the record, I would suggest one of the Starships in the fleet, if you are looking for action. Do not expect it in the embassy".

Mark walked in, and stoood a few feet from the admiral, "Well sir I understand that tactical and security officers tend to switch positions sometimes," he said, it sounded more like a question than a statement.
Though he would be fine with tactical officer, but he heard a few months back that the tactical and security officers can sometimes be able to do the other's job. Of course that would be quite convient for Mark, having the option of doing the job of Security and Tactical.

"An interesting assumption, but I was not aware of that. I think perhaps it is the Operations officer which does multiple tasks. But as a security or tactical officer, you would typically have something to do. Of course the Captain or Executive Officer could assign you multiple tasks. I have good record for you, and you are granted the rank of Ensign, you may take on the proper gold uniform. Shall I fill you in the rosters for the USS Evolution, Tactical officer position?. Your other options are the USS Rivendell, SS Avalon, and perhaps Dantor Starfleet. I think there is a security position there".

Admiral, if I may be honest, I would like to remain in your class, I enjoy it and a background in medical training is never a waste of time, would it be possible to stay in the class and then when I am done, then transfer over to the embassy or where I am needed. I'm sorry for my wavering in my decision both of these opportunities suite me, but I have already made a commitment to my studies. Is there anything I can be doing while I continue to take your class?

Swift walked to the door and looked at it with a frown, he had no idea why he was coming to the office but he assumed the worse. Just in case he was about to get shouted at or disciplined he put on his best nonchalant face and then pushed a button on the door. That button made a sound inside the office to let Hobson know a person was waiting to come in.

Mark knocked lightly on the door, his face a bit pale. He looked down at himself, smoothed and straightned his uniform, he then adjusted his rank insigma at his collar and stood up straight waiting for the answer. He felt nervous, and excited at the same time, he only met the admiral one in person and that experience didn't really make him feel any better about what the admiral might think about him. Mark has always felt what the guys higher up in the food chain has thought about him, it made him nervous to think that they just might be watching him.
Having the thought of a admiral might acutally be monitoring everything he does in the acadamy scares him, though at the same time it kind of keeps him alert. Maybe the admiral has been reading his logs.. Or maybe the captain has been recording everything he's been doing in class. Ethier way, first experience is a important thing, weather or not the person knows more about you than you think.
Mark blinked in surprise as Swift emerged from the door as it opened, he walked past Mark without any indication that he even noticed him. Though the look on Swift's face gave Mark the idea that he finally got out of the acadamy. Funny thing, Mark has been in the acadamy for four weeks, he even decided to stay another extra week. But Swift has only been here for about three weeks, hopefully he will survive, well not entirly hopefully, just..slightly, he never cared much for Swift. The man was hard-headed, but he had guts. The only good thing about spending time with Swift in the acadamy was that he supplied some entertainment.
He stood where he was at attention, even though the door opened it didn't mean he could enter it without permission. Though, it might've been faster if he did, Simon always said that a Security Officer should always take the right risks.
