Event Horizon

Thirty-six hours pass and with the help of Captain Archer and his team, Starbase Avalon was now ready to be moved to the planet Dantor. Vice Admiral Julian congratulates the team on doing a great job, but ahead is the biggest test, moving the station.

Kassie

<Turns to face Mann>

"We need to figure out how to strengthen the shields more.  Hmmmmm.  Mann, start trying to find extra power from none essential systems, draw power from weapons, power down all none essential systems, then tone life support down to the bare minimum, reroute that power to sheilds."

Morgan Freeman

"First of all, you can't blame yourself for Mann he knew what he was doing.  Second, to get us back underway, lets divert the shield generators away from the shield grid and into the structural ingerety field.  The SIF system was designed to handle that kind of stress anyway so the EPS power system attached to it sould work like a champ.

The catch is we have to reroute it through the main system, which looks like its currently about 30 degrees C higher then it should be right now.  I will go in a containment suit and reroute, Kassie I want you to be ready with briggs and stratford to activate the new field as soon as I make the cross connection.  Understood?"

Kassie

<Kassies hands flew across the console and activates the shields, to her surprise it worked>

*Kassie initiates a transporter beam and transports morgan to the medical bay*

=^= Ops, it worked, its stablized and repairs are almost done =^=

"If bypassing the main shield grid solves the problem, we should do it. For the last part of the journey, we should not take any unnecessary risks, so we should indeed minimize power usage by shutting down some systems and also lower the life support systems. We're gonna need all power available for the SIF, shields and propulsion. Make it so, Commander."

Eugene Archer

"So what you're saying ensign, is that if the safety system wouldn't have kicked in, the station would have exploded? Well, if the safety system is still online, I think we can just go to warp again, and if the station is to explode again, the safety system will kick in again. So I don't see any reason why we shouldn't leave again. I would, however, like you to run a level 3 diagnostic on all station's systems, before we leave again, ensign. Just to be sure. That should take no more than 20 minutes. Use all crewmen you need. We cannot take any unnecessary risks.

Durandal

"If I might suggest something? Your method of reducing the station to zero mass is nearly identical to the process used by a starship's warp nacelles to alter the ship's mass to a negative value. With a slight tweak, we could get the station to propel itself at warp. Other ships could follow closely, using tractor beams to augment the structural integrity."

=^=Archer to Admiral Julian. This is the status of the mission: Biggins, Mann, Kassie and I are working down here in engineering. We have discovered a way to propel the ship at warp speed. We are currently recalibrating the shields, and crewman Biggins is working on the structural integrity field. If work isn't delayed in any way, we should have the station ready for transport within 48 hours. I'm still waiting for crewman Biggins' answer to my question about how long it's gonna take to move the station at warp 4, which will be the maximum speed at which the station won't collapse. THe only other thing left to do after that, is checking if all the assisting vessels' tractor beams are modified sufficiently to ensure structural integrity of the station during transport. I will report back to you in 12 hours. Archer out.=^=

"No need to apologize for something like that. It is of the utmost importance to get the station to Dantor, but if the station is badly damaged during the journey, it would all have been just a waste of time."

"Crewman Biggins came up with an idea to propel the station at warp speed, using the Windsor's secondary warp core. The maximum speed we will be able to reach, is warp 4. According to Ensign Kassie's calculations, we will have to drop out of warp several times during the journey, to reinforce the shields. She is currently calculating how much time the journey will take, when taking all calculations into consideration. What is the current status of the shield generators?"

Kassie

"Sir, my calculations say that it will take roughly 20 hours to move the station, longer if we run into problems."

Julian

hmm i think on that note we will work together and organise that, however lets leave that til the station is set up. Please meet me in ops once this has been done
Off: dont type anything unless your agreeing cause im gonna get Will to use the event horizon to speeden things up a bit http://www.expansionfleet.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Kassie

*Kassie wasnt her usual self, infact she looked like she was about to break down and start crying, she was also scrambling around as crewmen and ensigns were running every which way to try and figure out what went wrong*

"Sir, I needed your help so I requested you down here.  I brought up the idea to reverse the shield polarity to make the station lighter, like a feater on the sea, well it worked, for a short time.  The shield matrix on I believe the starboard side began to fail, Mann went to try and fix it but the containment fields didnt activate and Mann was caught in the heat blast but he was able to fix the problem temporarily, I think an EPS conduit blew near the shield matrix on the starboard side which forced me to do an emergency engine shut down of sorts, but I had to force the station out of the warp field.  Ensign Mann is in the medical bay.  We still arent sure what exactly went wrong.  I feel its my fault Mann got hurt sense it was my idea to do this reversing of the shields idea, sir."

Gunn Mann

*Facing Kassie*

"I concur, even though shields have stabilized I suspect that will not last forever."

*Mann then moves over to another engineering panel and begins to feverishly work on rerouting power to the shields*

"Ensign Kassie I am rerouting power from all food replicators, diverting 50% power from weapons and then I shall draw from life support, hopefully the drain from life support will not be untolerable."

"Keep an eye on those shield generator temperatures, we can't afford any thermal breakdown at this moment!"

Eugene Archer

*Archer entered Engineering after having beamed aboard the station to help out with the repairs. He saw ensign Kassie at the main console and walked towards her.*

"Report Ensign."
