Lieutenant Dolan - Citadel of Adun

Dolan was suspicious of the Heraan's intentions, but could see no hostile intentions on part of the Heraan.  Dolan entered the Citadel with caution, shifting his phaser rifle to a more defensive position, but appearing less hostile.  Dolan prepared to react to any sudden movements as he entered the Citadel, not willing to fully trust the Heraan.

Lieutenant Dolan - Bridge, USS Normandy

Dolaln turned to Rajnus and replied, "No offense intended, but while Federation technology is advanced, in many ways surpassing ones I am more familiar with, there is not much I can suggest to increase the ship's combat effectiveness since it is simply not advanced enough to apply the upgrades I have in mind.  It would actually be easier to construct a ship with all of the upgrades from scratch, as the time and resources needed for all of the upgrades to a ship is unimaginable.  To put it simply, there is not much we can do to increase the ship's combat effectiveness."

Lieutenant Dolan - Citadel of Adun

Dolan tensed as the exchange of words grew more intense.  He shifted his weapon into a better position to fire from and also prepared to jump out of the way of the Heraani weapons.  Dolan waited for the Heraani Warmaster to give the silent order to attack as the rest of the group drew their weapons.

Lieutenant Dolan - Space Cannon's Secondary Control Room, Heraani Border World

Dolan decided that he didn't have time to translate the Heraan that was written on all of the consoles and a guessing strategy was too risky.  Dolan instead began to work on a simple virus that would infect the system and find the power systems itself.  Once it does, the virus would trigger an overload in all of the reactors throughout the facility, which would almost certainly destroy the cannon.  Dolan began to work on the virus and calculated that it would only take him 10 minutes, 15 tops.

Lieutenant Dolan - Citadel of Adun

Dolan almost let go of the khala when it sparked and started glowing.  However, he realized quickly enough that it wasn't designed to injure the wielder and instead readjusted his grip into a more suitable position for defense.  He calmed his mind in an effort to maintain control and focused on his opponent.  This was relatively easy, as Dolan had faced many stressful situations in his life and had always needed to be extremely focused and concentrated.

The Heraan seemed somewhat surprised at the khala igniting, causing Dolan to almost be distracted, but the Heraan soon regained composure and charged at Dolan.  Dolan deflected the blows as they came just millimeters from his body, in order to save energy in case the fight lasted longer than Dolan expected.

Survival was Dolan's sole goal at the moment, which was aided by Dolan's rapid reflexes and fast thinking.  The Heraan seemed to realize this and began to increase the strength of its blows, trying to punch straight through Dolan's defenses.  It seemed to get more frustrated as its kill was being denied to it and suddenly Dolan was knocked into the air by a psionic blast, something Dolan hadn't yet figured out a defense to.  He managed to complete a flip and land on his feet.  He stablized himself and prepared to defend against the charging Heraan's attacks.  He distantly heard a shout from the Heraan warmaster but was too focused on the fight to hear it clearly.

The ferocious swings seemed less powerful than they were before and soon Dolan started to think the Heraan was tiring.  However, he didn't let down his guard and began to search for any weaknesses in the Heraan's defenses that he could exploit as he continued to deflect the Heraan's attacks.

Lieutenant Dolan - Main Controls, Escape Pod

Dolan's escape pod detected a massive explosion where the Normandy and numerous Heraani ships once were.  Dolan himself hoped that everyone on the Normandy escaped the explosion.  He sent a message to the marines about the status of the Normandy and its crew's destination.

=/\= Lt. Dolan to Marine Command Staff =/\=
The Normandy has been destroyed.  Fortunately, the crew had time to make it to escape pods before its destruction.  Its remaining shuttles are escorting its escape pods to Gallifrey and we should be arriving soon.  Please send us your coordinates so we can meet up with you as fast as possible.
=/\= Dolan out =/\=

Dolan quickly check that the escape pod had enough weapons for everyone inside and was marginally relieved when he discovered it did.  He then turned back to the navigation console and continued to update the pod's course to the planet as he awaited the marines' response.

Lieutenant Dolan - Space Cannon's Secondary Control Room, Heraani Border World

Dolan was soon done coding the virus and downloaded it into the main console in the secondary control room.  After checking that it was done and leaving a backup virus in case the first one was detected and countered, he led his team back into the corridor.  They took a longer route back, since many of the main corridors were rapidly filling up with Heraani soldiers hurrying to cover the new breaches that the marines' mortars had opened up.  The group did encounter the occasional straggler, but they were quickly taken care of with a couple dozen phaser blasts to the chest and head.  Soon, they had escaped the compound and rejoined with the other marines.

After giving a quick summary to the officers in the command vehicle, the marines began to pull out of the complex.  A few signals to the Normandy notified them of their situation and would soon be on their way to pick up the marines.  If Dolan's calculations were correct, the Normandy would have to arrive within the next ten minutes if they didn't want the marines to end up dancing in a rain of flaming debris, assuming they weren't vaporized by the initial explosion.

Lieutenant Dolan - Antioch, Gallifrey

The fighting within Antioch was fierce and devastating.  From where the Pelican crashed, Dolan could see that many of the buildings within the city had either been turned into rubble or were well on their way.  The smell was disgusting: rotting corpses, burning flesh, smoke thick enough to step on.  The cries of battle and of pain were loud and could be heard everywhere.

All the while, Dolan kept a watchful eye out for any approaching groups of Heraan.  However, all the destruction seemed to be such a waste.  The Council members had not yet voiced the group's destination, perhaps assessing the situation also.

Lieutenant Dolan - Charlie 0-2-2 Crash Site, Antioch, Gallifrey

Everyone set up positions, ready to take on any approaching hostiles.  The situation was tense - the Pelican's sensors were too badly damaged to identify friend from foe and any remaining tricorders were either lost in the crash or damaged beyond repair.

When a small group of Heraan turned a corner and began approaching the crash site, everyone with phasers or some other long ranged weapon opened fire, taking the Heraan by surprise.  When the Heraan headed for cover, the Council members literally leapt into action - Dolan could have swore they jumped over five meters.  They landed just behind the enemy before turning around and finishing off a majority of the remaining Heraan.  By this time, most of the weapons fire had ceased in order to avoid hitting the Council members, though shots were still fired at the Heraan that did managed to make it to cover.

Most of the rather short fight was over at this point, with only a couple of the Heraan putting up a rather strong resistance against the Council members.  No one wanted to intervene, in case they disturbed the Council members from the battle, instead watching helplessly as the fight progressed.

Lieutenant Dolan - Bridge, USS Normandy

Dolan had a quick look over of the upgrades Captain Janeway had installed, curious the see what the enhancements were.  After abridged tests were run through all of the new systems, Dolan contacted the rest of the fleet.

=/\= USS Normandy to Fleet =/\=

Final tests have been concluded.  We are ready to move out.

Lieutenant Dolan - Bridge, USS Normandy

"Yes, sir," Dolan said as he headed for his console.  He contacts Admiral Karelia's ship and is shortly given the information that Rajnus requested.  Once the download is complete, Dolan sent a copy of the information to the console by the Captain's chair and another copy downloaded to a PADD.  He then motions to a nearby Ensign and has her take the PADD to Colonel Balkazar.

After doing so, Dolan assumed that the fleet was drawing close to Gallifrey, as ship-to-ship transmissions increased dramatically as time passed by.  He wondered why the Gallifreyans wanted the marines to be transported to the planet for quite some time.  He had no reason to believe that the Gallifreyans would harm them in any way, but desperation of situation was worried Dolan, as he had seen first-hand how that desperation would, in some people's minds, justify measures that would have never crossed their minds in other circumstances.

Lieutenant Dolan - Command Vehicle, Heraani Border World

An hour passed and there was no pause in the fighting.  The ceaseless explosions were starting to pain several of the marine commander's ears, if their pained expressions were any indicator.  Fortunately, most of the Heraani defenses were bombarded to rubble by now and the Heraan had made several tactical blunders in trying to root out the marines and so took heavy casualties.  Progress toward the cannon was quickening and the marines would soon reach the walls of the cannon.  From there, a breach of the wall was the most likely way the marines were going to get inside, as it seemed unlikely the Heraan were going to leave their door open.  Dolan had identified the location of a secondary control room that was much closer than the main control room and the most recent scans indicated that it also controlled the cannon's reactors, both primary and secondary.  He now just had to devise a way to cause a overload in all of the reactors that didn't require too much time, as it was unlikely the marines could hold even a small area of the vast complex for long, especially with Heraani reinforcement en route from a small military base on the other side of the facility.

Lieutenant Dolan - Bridge, USS Normandy

Dolan nodded absently at Rajnus's and Raszagal's conversation, continuing to muse about the upcoming battle.  After several moments he asked, "Are the marines going to be used to try and board enemy vessels?  If not, I suggest they be positioned in areas around the ship to contain any boarding parties."

Lieutenant Dolan - Bridge, USS Normandy

The helm had the coordinates input and jumped to warp with the rest of the fleet.  The Normandy's speed was then adjusted to match with the fleet.  Dolan then began to watch the passive scans of the sensors to see if anything strange came up.
