Verywell, Liason Patric you are welcome to join our treatie signing. please have a seat. Alf, is reading over the text currently.

That is good well done i may have to go back down and visit him/her after this.

So what is the final outcome? what happened to the freighter? where there any survivors? Why were the Heraan attacking a simple freighter? i need to know this information.

"My leave was fine, got to love the blood wine. However I did start to get a little restless. I belong in deep space serving on a ship. I don't leave very well, I just love what I do. There isn't anything better then exploring strange new worlds and protecting the federation from bold new threats." Swift explained, then added. "Don't worry Admiral I don't have my eye on your seat. It's a captains chair I'm after."

"I led the boarding party Admiral. I couldn't find a reason that they were there, I was busy trying to keep my team alive and the good doctor was taking care of the wounded. However there was nothing of any real use on those freighters. Nothing worth risking a raiding party for anyway. My best guess is they were gathering intel or simply trying to disrupt our supply chains. Either that or they needed target practise." Swift told the admiral. "If the marines picked up the captain of a Heerani vessel though I'm sure we will have a definite answer soon."

*knowing of Mr Starchasers past via reading records, Julian was not suprised at what happened as he walked in. Instead of raising his voice, he simply chuckled as he spoke to the young Lt.*

So i guess you had a lot of fun too Mr Starchaser. Good to see everyones in good spirit. What about you Mr Swift. I hear you did well enough in your last mission to recieve a promotion. If you keep that up you'll end up taking my seat. *chuckles some more* So how was your leave?

Swift slipped in and took a seat, he hadn't really enjoyed this mission all that much. Mostly he had been harassed and shot at by parallel versions of themselves and he had met a genetically enhanced person. One that could have revealed Swift was one himself and then get him either locked up or put down, either option he didn't much like to consider. It would have been fine if he had managed to meet his alternate self, but of course to add the cherry to this his alternate self was dead. Despite all this he had travelled to an alternate reality, this had him rather pleased. In the moment he hated it but in retrospect he was glad.

((OOC: I can't apologise enough for not posting. I have been very busy recently with university work. Again, Sorry.))

"My captain meant no disrespect, Admiral.  Julian depends on you for your opinion, I depend on Eastwood for his."

"That asteroid field or the nebula are the best 2 spots for listening posts.  Because of there natural defensive and tactical positions."

"But I have no more questions, and Clyde and I have work to do to prepare for your arrival on the base."

Welcome Mr Patric. Alf this is the ambassador from the Marines. The ones that were all dressed up with weapons on the planet :) His job here is to listen to what happens here, put in a marine point of view, and then explain to his superiors on the planet, as to what is happening. Kind of like what Captain Janeway's job on the planet is, execpt in reverse.

"Listen, Colonel Balkazar. Unfortunately you are not in commander here, Admiral Julian and Commander Lollock have jurisdiction. If you wish to help starfleet officers in  their search then by all means do so. But the commander will be giving you the orders, not the other way around." Swift told him, he respected his commanding officer and wasn't about to take orders from the Colonel.
"Commander a section by section, deck by deck search would be best. However splitting in to any more then two groups would not be advisable. A sizable force on this station could easily wipe out small search teams. Instead I would seal all the airlocks and seal each section once it has been checked. As long as we work methodically we should find whoever is responsible rather easily. I am aware time is of the essence here, clearly, however if all the search teams are wiped out it doesn't matter how long we take." Swift advised her. He was her acting chief security and tactical officer and it was his job to advise her in areas of tactical importance.
Swift had purposefully avoided the whole night vision remark. He could see quite well in the gloom and had completely forgotten to compensate for his enhanced eyes. Not really sure how well normal humans could see in the dark he decided to muddle through until he got some night vision goggles. He figured he would be able to tell the outlines of people and things but not be able to pick out any detail.

Title: Station Avalons Conference Room
Post by: Indiana Jones on October 20, 2006, 03:54:11 AM
Lt. Jones stood up from his seat and cleared his throat, talking slow and easy, so that everyone could hear him.

"From my viewpoint of engineering, that of structual ingegraty and mechanics for a starship or starbase. Along with experiance in this building, I think that what happened what that according to ALF, they had reached the equivilant of Twentith Century Earth's technoloy, however, according to ALF agian, they were beginning to work on micro bots that would help their duties, in repairs, longivity, and finally defense. However, their main food source... from what I can gather, the comman house cat or Fielias Catus, and some of it mutations... which Commander Cook will cover most likely, suddenly mutated into something more sinister, thus they built the ten story base, underground with what seemed to be a command center and cyrogentic room near the surface. Which I can see personal flaws in location... yet practicallity. Selected personal, such as ALF, and most likely politicans, Scientists, and a gloamoration of other's of ALF's race were frozen, with groups of the military, families, and scientists, all knowing that they might die to save and perserve the cryo center."

Jones then stepped to the base, and what he had been able to construct from his scans and some parts, highlighted in yellow, pure guesswork.

"Here we have the base... or part of it... here on the third level," Jones points to where the security post was.

"They built some type of dome structure, I think it was at one time a natural cavern that they converted. Fearing the the Felians had already taken out the above cryo center, they built this and in what seemed to have been only months, created a self sustaining place to live, cut off from outside communication, with sentry bots, somewhat ahead of the time period that the rest the base seemed to be, they lived, until we came along. This brings up the problem, they seem to be able to sustain deep underground complexes without worry of caves ins... yet at the same time, have controled cave ins to destroy sensitive locations. However, I have yet to completely finish compiling my data, seeing how some of my scans were incomplete when we beamed out. But I can say that most of the walls and doors, along with most basic items are made of a substance close to a combination of Stainless steal, and Aluminum." Jones then turned around and said. "Any Questions? If not, I end my report." Jones was a little nervous, he was more use to submitting his reports written, not orally.

OOC: I hope I did a alright job on the report. If not... that is what the question and answers are for.

"Your the one who signed up for Starfleet and chose manning Tactical.  But if it helps, I was at tactical for a few years before I joined the Marine Corp." Balkazar said responding to Swift.

"Thank you, Commander.  Hes under strict guard for the moment and only a very few have access to him for Security reasons of course.  Im sure you can understand that, Admiral."

Cook was about to answer when he saw the new Marines beam into the room, he then after the report given began to talk to Balkazar again. "Now see here. If a cat wants to, he can be dangerous and bit and scratch those not weary... so I think otherwise, at least the search grid will be steady and not random like I have to be. We start on one part of the station or deck and move in a back and forth pattern till we are done with that one section, we then move forward from there, choosing to if we want, to leave some men to keep the area secure and protected."

He smiled and crossed his arms across his chest. "Did I get it close enough to help? I will not sit on my rear end and wait for something to happen, I am going to help out, after all the more men you have, the faster the job will get done." He was not going to back down the way he was looking at the General.

(OFF: sry i've been busy i'll try harder in the future to keep pushing things forward.)

"Gentleman, as i am sure you are aware we have just returned from a visit to the alternate universe that has become known simply as the mirror universe. The main thing that arouses my concern is that they may now have a way to enter our universe. If they do decide to enter our universe chaor could insue. Their main reason for entering our universe, in my opinion, lyes in our technology. Although they are, by no means, technologically advanced they lack the resources to create the ships and armorments that we take for granted. As i have discussed with members of my senior staff." **She glances at Swift, but she won't mention him by name. She feels that his objections were basedon tactical analysis not the gut intuition and priceples that Lollock has come to rely on daily.** "It is vital" **She almost slams her fist but she withholds her Klingon temper in front of the brass** "that we uphold our priceples and the princeples that we fight and would die for today that are layed out for us within our charters and the prime directive. We must keep them out of our universe at any and all cost."

On a scientific note, Commander Cook has taken some readings that i am sure our scientist would find interesting. We made sure to capture detailed sensor scan while going through the rift.

I am sure this is not what you were expecting from me but i felt it necesary to relay my thoughts and ideas to everyone sitting in this room. Sirs, if you would like i could give a long boring analysis of the political situation, alliances, and the social structure within the alternate universe. But that is not as important. That is not what you need to know.

*Eastwood sat back in his chair after ordering Galindez to do his dirty work*

"Sir i think the place you have pointed out would be of good stratigic advantage to both base and station, if we were to put the outpost anywhere else it will be terrible for the men to get there, and all due respect to you Admiral and Fleet Captain but we are marines and we have had years of training and fighting and i think as a branch of Starfleet we should be left to do our own thing"

Weasly Cook glared at Ensign Swift, as well as Captain Titan, He opened his mouth to reprehend them, or at least the Ensign.... but stopped. He then reworked his wording and looked at Captain Titan. "Captain, we have younger officers here who are looking up to the higher in command, and I doubt that talk that like in front of them is setting a good example... especially when you do not know the past of the man you are talking about."

Cook then took Captain Smith from his shoulders and placed the cat into his lap. "Please Captain, your claws are not helping my neck relax." He was talking to the feline.

He then looked up at Admiral Julian. "I think we should start now before a bickering fight erupts or something."

We will all do the things we're good at and trained in, but of course, we will collaborate and communicate. If we don't do that, this whole operation will turn out to be one huge catastrophe, and we'd better not even start with it. That's my final word on this subject."

Swift raised an eyebrow, the guy thought he was a mere copycat. He shook his head and relaxed back in his chair a little. He had been waiting to use the asylum gag for a week already, he was just glad of the opportunity. Wanting to go to the playground himself though was all on the spot wit. He was quite impressed with the speed he had managed to put it together actually. He wasn't concerned though with what Cook said about Starchaser, if the guy was really insane he shouldn't be an officer. That was a simple fact so he had to just be a little eccentric. Also bringing a cat in to a meeting room was hardly following regulations. Though Swift knew his own existence as an augment was breaking the law, which he conceded was probably a lot worse. Also considering the man was a doctor, his CMO, it probably wasn't a good idea to get on the guys bad side as if Cook did a little digging he could probably find out what he was. So Swift just sat there with a slight smile, rather amused at the whole situation.

"We alredy have 1 listening post up.  Its here. <points to northern asteroid field>.  Natural defense and no ship can get in there without us knowing it.  So we will have atleast a week or more heads up if anyone comes into this sector, sir.  The Asteroids provide a natural defense."

"I wouldnt suggest building in that particular area just yet, its still unstable.  Not to mention its considered an archeological dig."

"I suggest that if we need to build an Evacuation point I suggest this area.  <Points to a forested and rocky area on the otherside of the planet>.  I suggest this area because its not near the base.  If our base is destroyed again then so is the secondary base as well and makes resisting alien threats much harder because we will have no safe zone.  So on the otherside is your best bet, natural defense, not to mention that area has the highest caves and caverns on this planet.  Not to mention, it provides some crude yet primitive materials to use if needed or if it calls for it."

"No its not the only one but its the best building in the southern section of the city.  Tho im sure the populace wouldnt mind some maintence work being done."

"As far as your listening posts I can only suggest where to put them.  Its your choice where you decide to put them and how you build them.  You do the work.  Everyone here has a job to do.  It wouldnt be right if we did your work for 'your' base of operations, Sirs."

Cook stayed standing waiting for the meeting to start. He had just came from checking on Captain Smith, as such, he was happy to find out that he had behaved, for the most part. He was working on some last minute details for the report.

I dont know what language you use but i did see some writings when you taped into the information on that crystal you had. This padd has the information of the treaty on it in multiple languages in order of what i thought looked closest to your own. The default language and the one you can see on it know is called the english language. It is the main language of the federation.

"Uhhh, hehe, Present sir." he said to the admiralty.

"OH SHUT UP, it wasnt my fault!!!!!" he said towards the chair the admiral was sitting in.

"Oh yes ummm, can I get some help.  This is a rather uncomfortable position I got myself into.  Not to mention it will make the chairs stop talking about me!!" He said to anyone in the room.

<Soon someone came over and helped him get up>

"Oh thank you ensign." he said heading over to his chair to sit down.  But instead of sitting in the chair his butt was a few inches off target making it seem like the chair moved itself as Valen ended up on his toosh with a thudd.

"DAD NABIT!!!.  Blasted chair, I just wanted to sit in you so I can attend the meeting now dont move again, MR!" as he said as he tried to sit in the chair but this time the chair didnt seem like it moved as Valen sat in the chair finally waiting for the meeting to begin.

Swift walked in and sat down, he was near the end of the table away from the admiral. He picked up a data pad and read it quickly and absorbed all the details. A recon mission, it figured that's what they might get a Defiant class to do. They were boring most of the time but there were odd occasions when they became exciting, he hoped that this was one of those occasions. Though he couldn't really complain, at least they weren't patrolling some quite sector or guarding an ambassador through peaceful territory. Now those sorts of missions were boring.

"That sums it up quite well indeed, Jason."

"Fleet Admiral, besides Jason as a marines liaison on Avalon, we will also have a starfleet liaison on Starphoenix Base, in the person of Captain Janeway. We are indeed in the planning stage of setting up the planetary base and the 'evacuation area' on the other side of the planet."

"And just to let you know, Admiral, there is someone else involved in this project as well, in a rather unusual way; provisional ensign Kassie. As her graduation project, I'm letting her make plans for such a base as well. This way both parties can take profit from it: Kassie will graduate and gain a lot of useful experience, while we can use any useful ideas the ensign might have made and we hadn't thought of yet."

"I reckon that's about all there was to report about the current situation. Is that correct, Julian?"

"Im not kidding, Admiral.  You are Starfleet command there fore you are a bigger risk then I am.  You know more then I do about alot of things, and if that Commander CAN! take control of you then as a Federation officer I will have to stop you at all costs.  So to prevent such things you will not see him till we determine his threat level.  My marines have strict orders to not allow anyone threw, even to an Admiral.  Even if you threaten them they will not let you threw.  He was captured by marines there fore hes under our juristiction.  I do believe that was one of the agreements you agreed too when we allowed you to build the Starfleet Contingent base on Dantor.  I do believe that you agreed that marine matters stay with marines and starfleet matters with starfleet.  This falls under Marine juristiction.  There fore hes protected by the marines.  I dont think you would want to go against the very word you told me, do you?"

Swift was up in an instant, eyes darting round the room. "This isn't anything run of the mill." He put one foot on a chair and from his boot drew a knife that he transferred to his belt so he could reach it quickly in combat. He then put his foot down, took his phaser off his belt, checked it was only on stun, and finally held it loosely at his side. He wished he had a second pahser, a rifle, and a bunch of grenades but he supposed the rifle and the knife would be fine. "I second that Colonel Balkazar. We can get the admiralty off the station and grab a couple of space suits from the lockers down there. Once we are in them we can find out what has caused this and possibly help to fix it, or kill it I suppose. But if power has gone that means life support may be out and if we don't hurry up we may die of carbon dioxide poisoning, which would really put a downer on my day. So I think we should keep talking to a minimum. I would suggest evacuating the entire station but I have a feeling no one will go for that. Also we need to avoid blowing anything up, the last thing we need is a fire eating away at our oxygen supply... I know. Where's the fun in a fight without explosions? Unfortunately we will have to make that sacrifice just this once." He told them in a sincere voice.

Karelia shot a glare to the Colonel. "You're damned right, it's not your place! So we're dropping it immediately!"

As he turned from the marine, he listened to both Mr. Patric and Captain Archer give their reports. "Good," the admiral said. "Alongside the 17th Battalion, I think I'm going to appeal to Starfleet to send me 32nd Battalion to be posted on the station and be more closely affiliated with the Evolution and Rivendell. It'll also have more of an emphasis on starfighter training and combat. Colonel, I'm going to reassign Captain Raynor and his pilots to 32nd Battalion, and have Starfleet send you some replacements."

The heraan are at war with the federation not the marines. the capture is under the authority of the federation of which we both serve. If i actually got the time to see this prisoner and your men refused me entry, As a member of Starfleet Command, i speak directly for the federation and they would be chraged with treason and instantly dismissed. Dantor is split up into two sections, both navy and marine core. so it is agreed upon that they have restrictions to eachother. If i were a normal Admiral they could refuse. But im a member of Starfleet Command and thats a different story all together. For the time being i will not be going down there. im more interested in this Heraan ship we have obtained.

Explain please the deatil of the vessel? Its size, its capacity, its tech level. I want to know if we can use it against the Heraan.

hmm you really think a simple power outage means we should evacuate the admirality? Well i suppose s then. But i need no escort, my flyer is in a cloak orbit around the station. Life support is up. Engineering said its in the sealed up level that still has power. So whoever did this, wanted to keep everyone alive.

Balkazar, you and your men are to surround the sealed deck and raid it section by section until you find the cause. I want your weapons set to stun, we need to kep whoever did this alive.

(OFF: Balkazar and the Iroquois crew, heres your little guide for your mission so far::

Your men storm the deck section by section but find nothing at all. No army to fight against, no boobytraps nothing. you all end up meeting up in the last section where the door to a single room seems to be deliberately jarred shut. The room on the standard blueprints of the station, available to the public via starfleet records, has no other way into it. There is however another way in. you need to find it and get into that room without killing whats inside. When you figure it out, you will find only one person controlling the situation. A sabatour, with a coompletely different style of military uniform you have not seen before (OFF: terren rebellion). He is at a command console sending communications to the co-ordinates or an anomoly that is getting bigger and bigger. This is the anomoly the Iroquois was about to investigate. You capture the guy, restore power, and stick him on the stations brig until admirality can get there hands on him. Just remember this is the station, so its starfleet duristriction not marine ok? *smiles* once the power is on the Iroquois crew will investigate the anomoly and ill let you know what happens from there :)
Have fun )

IC: I'll beam the my ship and scan the exterior and see if we have any visitors..

=^=Julian to the Fenix. 1 to beam out=^=

*Julian then phases out and appears on his delta flyer. he walks over to the helm, sits down and starts scanning the ship and its surroundings*

=^=Julian to Avalon, theres no sign of intruders coming from outside the station, so it must be from inside that deck with the power still online. Hmm strange. Commander Lollock, your anomoly that you were to investigate does not sem to be going away anytime soon. Infact its getting larger.. I ant you and your crew to help secure the station. As soon as power is restored, go straight to the anomoly and investigate. Im going to stay in orbit around the station and keep running scans. Ill let you all know of any activity around the station. Balkazar please keep me up to date with your progress every ten minutes. Thankyou Julian out.=^=

Swift walked in. "Ensign Swift reporting as ordered." He said, took a quick look round the room, then went to sit at the end of the table furthest away from the Admirals. There was an almost hierarchy in these sorts of situations and he knew the place of an Ensign, though it didn't mean he would be quite when the meeting started. He was not above telling Admirals they were wrong if he thought they were. Unlike most sycophantic Ensigns he wasn't about to stroke the egos of his superiors, he respected them too much to do anything other then tell it as it is. Or at least tell it as he saw it.

Swift physically sighed, that officer StarChaser was a real concern of his. How anyone could act like that was beyond him. He had a sense of humour sure, but his was a gentle wit not buffoonery. What's more he knew how to behave in situations just like this. He was sure that either StarChaser was a complete fool or not all there mentally. Either way he didn't want the guy treating any injuries or watching his back during any assignment.

You will be leaving as soon as the briefing is over. Before you go though *looks at Janeway holding the little black box* I have an add-on to your ship.

*Janeway hands the box to the Commander.*

Its called the Mobile Emitter Mark II or the M-E-M-2. Before i retured to this station, i had been in command of a deep space research facility here in the delta quadrant. We were studying a lot of the new techs the Voyager found through its journey. Hence why my Delta flyer is more advanced than the standard model. We also figured out a way to let out a lot of potential in the original Emitters. This latest version is one of 5 in existing within the expansion fleet. It has any starfleet officer holigram programed into it you could think of. From helm and medical, to security and tactical, to even a crewman. I think you may find it very handy and im placing it on the Iroquois permenantly.

Now i think thats abou......

*sunddenly the power in the whole station went out. Backups power kicked in for about 5 seconds then even that was knocked out.*

OOC: The obvious thing stopping them would be their own morals...I mean, would you just blast away species on hundreds of worlds just because you can?  Unless you don't have a conscience or have a twisted sense of humor, you probably wouldn't.  There is also the Temporal Prime Directive to consider...besides, the ships in all the series we see aren't capable of time travel on their own since the Federation didn't invent, or at least allow, time travel until the 26th century, so all the time traveling that they did was due to either a greater power (ex. the Q continuum, Borg, etc) or a future Federation intervening for some reason or another (ex. the Voyager episode Endgame, where a future Admiral Janeway travels back in time to save the Voyager crew 16 more years of travel.  Another example is Crewman Daniel's travels from the 31st century to talk to Captain Jonathon Archer).  The time traveling could have also been accidental.  The ship would then correct the timeline, seeing that they probably weren't suppose to be there in the first place.  So really, the main thing that's keeping them from "blowing the primitive people or species with their superior technology" is the Temporal Prime Directive and their own morals.  The feuds that are seen are then because the ships aren't suppose to be there in the first place and were brought back to stop the changes in the timeline from happening.

He was glade that the Conference room had window outside, because he could see somewhat in the dark room... "Commander Lollock?" "I never meant to disrespect you Admiral's.  I just lost over 100 good men in battle on a heraani station.  So please forgive my abruptness.  I never meant to say that Marines are better then Starfleet.  Im just saying we are better trained to handle situations that normal security officers are unable to handle themselves is all I meant.  I will have Foxtrot squad come aboard the station to set up a base here on the station for increased security.  I will also have one of my best men to act as liason to come as well.  Just give us a few days to get things in order on the Starphoenix and here on Avalon Station."

"I understand the marines are a branch of Starfleet.  I also understand that starfleet handles things in space, and we handle things on ground which is why we are here."

"We will work together well Admiral's I can feel it but before we can work together we must understand each other's point of views and how each other think, then we can start to have some kind of respect for each other on a more or less professional level.  Agreed?"

"Now lets get down to business.  I dont think Holograms would be good because that would defeat the purpose of having security officers now would it ?, but if high command allowed it then thats alright I suppose."

"The south end of the city still has rubble and destruction about it.  Ill have Delta Company go and secure your site.  Is there any questions you have for me."

"You can know whats going on with the planet, but some things you wont know.  But I can assure you that if the Heraani or any threat comes to Avalon station you can be rest assured that we will be there to fight the same enemy as Starfleet.  Common goal is to protect Civilians and we will do our jobs if you allow us to use our methods and our tactics." The stressed looking Col. said.

Fair enough. I do agree that the base would take a long time and would be hard to situate somewhere else. however in my personal opinion, i am a bit 'iffy' so to speak about merging with this species. I like to follow the prime directive, and this to me would be like breaking the law. But we must do what we must do. The High Command and given its input, and so it is decided. We will meet up with the leaders and arrange this.

I did not ask you to questions my orders commodore, i told you to follow them. And the cardassian here is a member of starfleet, and has probably taken much offence to what you have just said. I think you need to watch your tounge. Perhaps you would much rather sit at the station and do nothing like you have been these last weeks?

"To be frank commander, I have only said what any other man would have said themselves. Also the comment you said about younger officer looking up to the higher in command. Is Mr. Starchaser not a lieutenant? He too should be setting an example for his subordinates and clearly acting like a lunatic is not an acceptable and appropriate way to act especially in front of the admiralty. Also if the man is insane do you think it is right and safe to have him serving in Star Fleet on a starship?"

*He turned to respond to Valen.*

"And you Mr. Starchaser, I do respect my subordinates and I do give respect were it is deserved and to be honest seeing a man make a fool of him self in front of his superiors is not proper grounds for giving respect to someone."

*Tom had leaned back in his chair and folded his arms and turned looking to Commander Cook with his brow raised waiting for the doctors reply.*

Commander Cook leaned forward so he could look at Ensign Swift. "Are you saying that you have training in interrogation? I thought you are a tactical officer? Isn't head of Security in charge of that area?" He was still in a bad mood over his insulting the good doctor, but then he blinked and smiled. "I assure you, we have some Marines that could get information in five minutes easy... I assure you that Balkazar and General Powell both have trained a well staffed Marine corp on Dantore."

But like I said, direct chaos at the enemy and it's fine by me." He added with a smile. "Now on to main engineering, just don't touch any buttons when we get down there." He joked as he opened one of the Jeffrey's tubes panels on the wall and climbed in. "Only about fifty or so decks..."

"Only push a button if, and I mean if, there are a bunch of bad guys in an air lock and you see the button that will flush them out in to space. That's a button you can push. Other then that try and leave it to the tech boys, you know. The ones hired to do all the button pushing. It's a difficult skill to master, I can only tap buttons. Pushing them is like an extra five years training at the academy." He told Valen with an air of mock seriousness. Anyway, the point is we are here now, and we must learn to work with what we have. I will have a team start on setting up a permanent Starfleet base on the south side of the city, possibly might even set up an academy there also. Perhaps Mr Archer your practical exam for Kassie could have something to do with setting the base up?

Good morning ensign,

your role in this assignment is to create a design for the starfleet base on the planet. It must include a well fortified command center, barracks, living quarters, medical center etc. You must have them in strategically placed areas around the base.

We are currently working out plans for the planetary defence in orbit, so you dont need to worry about that. However some ground defence would be good also. maybe with your plans, you can include such defences.

We will be able to do our job, and you will be able to do yours, as long as we learn to cooperate and communicate properly with one another. As Vice-Admiral Julian said, the marines are a branch of Starfleet, which means that you fall under our authority. This does not necessarily mean that we will give your people all orders and check everything, but it DOES mean that everything that happens on the planet, station, and surroundings, falls under Admiral Julian's and my responsibility. That's why we can't just let you do whatever you feel like doing. I totally agree with the proposal of having liaisons on both bases. This would increase the ability to communicate effectively."

"I agree on the fact that we should first get a proper planetary defense grid. A mine field sounds like a good idea, because other options, like defense ships/shuttles, would be much more expensive and hard to reach. But why shouldn't you be able to activate the mines when only one of the remote sites is active? My guess, however is that there will always be someone on each site to activate or de-activate the mines, so maybe it's a good idea to have both sites active before being able to activate the field."

"Of course the long-range scanning-ability is of the utmost importance, so we definitely need long-range sensors. Maybe it's an idea to put like 8 sensors in and around the solar-system, all centered around Dantor, with which we can communicate through the satelllite grid around the planet/station. But what exactly do you mean with "defense satellites"? Are they like satellites with heavy weaponry which fires automatically, or does it only fire upon command? I have one more thing to say about the long-range sensors; You mentioned them being sensor stations, but I guess just sensors the size of probes should be enough, don't you think so? This way they will also be harder to detect."
Title: Station Avalons Conference Room
Post by: Julian on September 06, 2006, 02:19:06 AM
Mr. Patric, the problem with the little mines are one, if one goes off theres a chance of a chain reaction with al of them going off, and two, it would be a lot harder to mask the power sources of millions of little mines compared to thousands of bigger mines.

*Tom nodded to the young ensign as he sat but did not say anything. He stood up and walked to the front of the room and spoke.*

"That will be enough from you, Colonel. I am quiet sure these orders will clear up most of the conflict with that issue/"

*He cleared his voice and read off the PADD.*

"First off I would like to welcome Ensign William Dolan to our crew. He will be our new Chief Science Officer replacing Ensign Velotion. Ensign Swift..."

*Titan took a concealed black box from behind him and tossed it to Swift. It contained a PIP with a filled center.*

"...has proven him self to be a valuable officer and has preformed outstandingly since he graduated from the DSA and joined Expansion Fleet. Admiral Yates is proud to present you this filled PIP and grant you the rank of Lieutenant JG. Congratulations, Lieutenant. I am sure you all know of the unfortunate fate that Major Nathen Keller our brave 17th Battalion XO, he is now in stasis until the needed repairs can be made to him. He is fatally wounded and he cannot be removed from stasis until we can get him to the Alpha Quadrent and back to earth so the he can undergo his proper surgeries. Admiral Yates is also promoting him to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and he to be awarded medals when he returns. Commander Lollock, as of now you are now the temporary captain of the Uss Iroquois. After you serve a one month probation period you will be fully appointed the CO and Commander Weasly Cook you are the Temp. XO and if Commander Lollock is appointed CO you will be the official XO. Now onto the real orders. As of this time all the information we know about the captured Heerani ships is now deemed classified by Admiral Yates. No admittance will be allowed to enter or see the ship with out authorization of Admiral Yates or Lieutenant General Powell. Absolutely NO senior, command, or admiralty will be allowed to see the prisoner Heerani Commander with out consent from Fleet Admiral William Karelia or admiral Yates. And to conclude Yates' orders, starting now both ship crews will be permitted two weeks leave until the proper repairs to the Uss Iroquois are completed."

*Tom nods and before he sits.*

"Any questions?"

Commander Cook face faltered. "I do not know... but... I could hazard this guess, that they can only appear in a similar location in our universe on where they left... say... that vortex, it was opened near their Avalon Station and it appeared near our own... meaning.... well, it is like this. You have two plate of glass, each has an etching of our galaxy or star system... now, you push a metal pin through it, it will leave one plate and enter another at the exact same place... and I equate a plate of glass, because I noticed that there are small ripples or cracks in the fabric of space when the vortex is opened, but remove the pin... and the glass returns to normal... well, there may be a small dent or scratch where it was... but the complicated analogy is indeed how it works in the real fabric of space."

He hoped that this worked in explaining their ability of moving through the fabrics of space... well between theirs and the Mirror Universe he didn't want to begin right now to think about other universes that had their stellar locations completely different then their own system configuration.

As you would know the site better than us, your help would be appreciated.

Now first things first. We are going to need a fairly secure base on the planet, but i think a planetary defense system should be organised first. Back on DS9 i remember reading a report of a mine field they put in place around the station and Bajor and the wormwhole. I would like they same kind of setup however, if we do there must be 2 sites of which the mines can be both activated and deactivated. one on the station, and one on the planet. My idea is to have both sites active to activate the mines, but however you only need one site with the right authorisation to deactivate them in case of something happening. The other thing is setting up some defence sattelites around orbit of the station, as well as long range sensor stations at strategic points throughout this planets solar system. This will dramatically help us in detectingunknown vessels. What imput do you two have on this matter ?

"Starfleet thinks on such a lower level.  Always thinking bigger is better, like more ships will make the different or more troops will be the turning point.  Your missing the purpose, there would be no chain reactions if you set up a shield to cover each one, you would require tremendous amount of power just to maintain 1 mine, it will take lil power to maintain several little mines.  Stop thinking Starfleet when defending a planet.  I meant no disrepsect, Admiral."

"No offense Admiral, but it doesn't really matter what sort of technology the ship has or any of the nice minor details. The only use that ship has is covert operations to spy on the enemy, or to get a ship behind enemy lines to do a bit of sabotage. But the fact is we can't do that until we learn codes, ship to ship etiquette, the flying style, procedures when crossing boarders, what they keep on when not in battle, and a whole host of other things, for all we know the ship might be boo-bey trapped to explode if any species other then a Heeran tries to operate it. Our best bet is to get that captured captain to activate a remote link with the Heeran computer core. Then we can download the technical specifications and their cultural database, then study it. Hard." Swift told them, as far as he was concerned that was the only logical course of action. "Or failing that you could rip the thing to pieces to get all their technological secrets. Personally I think it's more valuable intact, but that really isn't up to me."

Swift didn't notice the cork that nearly made him loose an eye, he was looking at his new pips. The federation meant a lot to him, more then he would admit, he saw the new rank as a way he could help the federation even more. He was very pleased that he had a higher rank, he wasn't overly bothered about ranks but he really wanted to be a captain and this was one of the steps towards that goal.
"Thank you captain Titan, this is very cool." Swift said sincerely and put on his Lieutenant Junior pips. "Now let's have some of that blood wine." He stood up prepared to follow Titan to the Celtic corner. "Of course blood wine is like poison to humans but I'm sure one glass won't hurt." He added, his genetically altered body could take blood wine but normal ones couldn't. He mentally reprimanded himself, he couldn't afford slip ups of that nature.

"Ohhhh yes sir."

<Takes out a weird looking PADD and activates it as a holographic projection of a standard Starfleet base springs up>

"As you can see this is the standard for a starfleet ground base, its like a station or a ship newly built.  Now with Archer pointing out a few things I forgot heres the base plan with what I was given about south building we will be so graciously given."

"Set up a engineering bay on ground lvl with forcefields to protect it.  We can use the bigger room as a command post tho it will need some work.  Put in medical, operations, several security posts inside and out along the parade ground, I suggest setting up phaser turrets to protect the walls thats alredy been constructed.  Then have security guards patrolling the area until we have finished construction.  Then I suggest we set up several armories so if we cant get to one we can then get to another quite easily and it will make distrubuting weapons if invaded alot easier.  Then place recreational establishments would be good as well."

"I also suggested that we use the planet, meaning we dig.  If we can set up a underground bunker, a civivlian area and command post for the admiralty would be good too, set up several transporter rooms in an unaccessable by ground troops area and the only way in or out is threw transporting, so we set up say 10 transporters underground then we can set up a whole host of civilian rooms and taverns and the like, so if the station falls under attack and no one can get to the runabouts then this fall back area will beable to transport on a mass scale everyone off the station, if done right, can transport maybe 2x that of what a shuttle can carry."

"Also I suggested building a fallback spot for starfleet and marine personel.  So if we loose both bases we can continue the fight from a place thats secret.  Not to mention its well hidden and we can maintain a military presence without much trouble at all.  I also suggest that all these bases and underground living area, have seperate reactor rooms, so if one base is destroyed then the shock wave wont go and take out the other 2 bases.  So if the 3 bases are linked then 1 base gets destroyed then all 3 bases get destroyed because of loss of power and thats the worse thing that can happen in a siege.  Thats why I suggest seperate and independant power stations, so no matter what happens the other 2 bases have power to do what they are built for.  Understand ?"

Ok. *opens an active comm link with the members of the high command*

Station Avalon has been moved to Dantor's orbit because it is strategically better than being in the middle of nowhere. If the station is attacked again as it was last time, we will have an advantage over them.

I know the marines have had control of the Starphoenix base but now that the station is here i have been ordered by the high command, for starfleet to take control of the base. However, the marines are still going to have a big part to do with the base. The only difference is anything that happens must be reported to either Mr. Archer, who i am as of now promoting to XO of the Starfleet Contingant on Dantor, or myself.

This meeting has been aranged to make an agreement with how things shall work. i am very lenient (if thats how its spelt ??? ) and will agree to most things.

For starters, the marines will still have full access to the base and its equipment when needed, however starfleet must also be informed of this. I am assigning Captain Janeway and her tactial team to be the starfleet leason on certain missions. You will find her team to be of good use, as her team are holigrams :)

The base will also be split up, with a marine command base, and also a starfleet command base. a lot of work is needed to be done. The marine base will contain its own command center, barracks, armoury, medical center e.t.c and so will the starfleet command base. Permission from the CO, or XO of each base however will be needed to enter each base, with the exception of senior officers.

Now the station. Dantor is well supplied, but if anything shall happen Station Avalon will be there every step of the way. The biggest thing is looking after the station however. In an invasion situation i will be working on organising a planetary defense system. we will also work on tactical situations in which your marines can help us out at the academy teaching students and even current officers, on different tactical situations and what not.

Any questions?

The holograms can be a matter we can deal with later, however they are only to be used in an emergancy situation.

Ok, well i think this meeting is good and done.

Im sure Colonal that you have a bit of work to do, with your return, so i shall let you and your officers be on their way.

The fact t hat you do not serve under me is completely irrelevent to the fact I out rank you. And your statement about judgment made no sense what so ever. *the holographic picture zooms in on one of the ships in the fleet. It is emitting a green haze from its deflector, pointing towards the rift while it was still open.*

My guess is whatever they had on that ship, was keeping the rift open. Shortly after the Iroquois went through the rift closed. I fear the worse for the Iroquois and its crew. Back when i was the CO of the science station, before i was reassigned back to here, we were working on a way to stabalise the supspace rifts enough to keep a stable inter-dimensional portal active, however we were a very long way from even achieving a three second rift.

The grumpy Col. said.

"So your telling me, that despite starpheonix being a fully battle ready marine base we will have soft security officers pushing us around on our own base ?.  This isnt wise on so many fronts.  This tells me that High command wishes to take over the front line ground and ship to ship assault forces.  That tells me that they dont trust us even with our superior training to protect you.  Starfleet on a marine base isnt acceptable because there not trained to think outside the box.  There not trained to fight against multiple opponents.  As well as there not trained to think from every single angle if the station or base falls under attack.  By moving the station here tho its a strategic move on your part, it tells me that the Navy division doesnt trust us despite our considerable experience in ground combat.  You have to understand where im coming from Admiral.  By this move here it upsets our way of life on a 'Marine' base to have starfleet there trying to run a 'Marine' base is just not acceptable."

"Tho I think it is wise to have both starfleet and marine command posts on a planet incase the station falls, and its a strategic move, however we will not be kicked out of OUR base to make room for you.  You can build your operations in the southern part of the city, Ill even provide guards till your operations is up and running, but keep in mind its a Marine base.  And as far as myself is concerned your guests on our base.  With all do respect, Admiral's."

"I dont think mere security guards should be trained with our tactics and methods that takes years of training and if the Nijgat decide to attack again they wont have the training done in time."

"However, I suggest that you allow me full access to the station if attack is pending, which means full security access.  As well as finding room to set up a small base here on the station."

"This small base will serve several purposes.  1) Safe haven for the admiralty.  2) A continous marine presence on the station.  3) Fortified base on the station to ensure the stations security if your security forces fail to protect the station."

"A company will man the small base on the station as well as provide additional security."

"But remember, Admiral's, you may put holograms or your own men on Dantor but remember its a MARINE base, not a starfleet base.  You will only take charge of its operations when the bulk of the marines are gone off on another mission somewhere."

"Some of my men may disagree with this idea, Admiral.  I dont like it, because there doesnt need to be a starfleet presence on a marine base disrupting marine functions."

"I will think about training your men in marine tactics but I cant promise I will allow it.  Tho I probly have no say so in the matter either way." and as the grumpy Col. finishes he sits back in his chair.

OOC**heh, you got the grumpy Col. more grumpier.

"Welcome Kassie. Indeed you have done something right :) You have showed very much potential during the moving of the station, and we would like to reward you for that, by giving you this assignment, which is also an accelerated way for us to promote you to full ensign."

"I have already told you a great deal about this at the academy. But the general plan is to build a permanent planetary starfleet base on Dantor. Let me introduce you to your colleagues; This here, is mr. Patric. He will be the marine liaison during starfleet meetings. We also have a starfleet liaison who will be present at the Marines meetings. Lieutenant-Colonel Balkazar, who is the Officer in command at Starphoenix Base, just left, you might have bumped into him in the corridor down here. Marines-Captain Eastwood, is another one of the marines officers involved in this matter, and I guess you still remember Vice-Admiral Julian."

Ok so no mines it is. How ever if that is the case then turrets should also be placed around the planet as well as here where we intend to put them.

*points to the points on the map*

Ok first things first. Ensign Kassie, you and a team of architects are to go down to the planet and start working on the base immedietly. Mr Archer, im going to put you in charge of making sure that the turrets are being made to specs.

Cook got up to the front of the room as Jones went to sit down, he turned around and nodded his head. "We are discussing the situation on the Dantor Planet, we seemed to have stumbled across a thriving culture and civilization in some underground bunkers of their design..." Cook show the drawing that Jones had shown before... "Very fasiniating indeed, to use a phrase  that Vulcans... and scientist use." He chuckled a little.

"Now that is taken care of... my scans were that mainly of technological and cultural process... Our abassador ALF as he has asked us to call him, stated that they build these structures for a last ditch effort to save themselfs from a creature... a mutated Cat that rebelled... it seems that their main food diet is that of the Feilus Catus." Cook then turned around and looked at this notes. He cleared his throat and went to a new slide, this time of scans that he had taken. "This is scans I have made of the dome structure... I can denote about the size of a small village... give or take about one hundred personally in the evac dome... the actual name of the dome, I have not gotten, so I will change them when I find out their real name. As you can see, from scans and from their reconstructed some pieces... they are on the threshold of breaking through to the next century of tecnology. In fact I could argue that they have twenty first century micro tehcnology But then I would digress from my report. However, their is something I must mention at this time... they have the ability to cyrogentically freeze people... a process that we were not able to do until the end of World War Three. I have given some thought about this species... they are very resiliant and keen to servival. They were able to survive an almost direct assualt on their own base." Cook then put up a new scan, this one would look confusing to most people.

Cook couldn't help but smile. "Here is something else, they have been able to place the brain of one of their own kind into a machine of sorts, these scans show about what I could read five or six such machines oberating... but ALF himself seemed surprised that his bots were able to do this... we may be dealing with not one... but two sentiant beings." Cook then turned around to look around the room. "My main focus at this time was the cultural and technological progress... but if you have any questions concerning something of my scientific process, please ask, I will  try to answer your questions to the best of my own ability."

Commander Weasly Cook walked into the conference. In his arms he is carrying Captain Smith, seeing how he was going to be heading right to the Celtic Corner after this meeting, he felt that he should show the cat a little bit of the station. He then sat down across from Commander Lollock. He was typing up a small report of the damage to his part of the ship, science bay one was going to be in need a major repair. But he was also worried about how Captain Smith might react to the live Gagh... or... dang what was it called again? Cook was surprised at himself for forgetting what the delicacy was called.

He looked and nodded at the Admiral. "Commander Cook reporting sir." He shook his head, he was once again in his own world, how would he ever get to be in a command position if he was going to be thinking too much.

Captain Smith softly meowed and purred. Cook only smiled and patted his head for the cat's encouragement.

"Good timing, Captain.  Split up the men in smaller teams 10 men each.  Standard search pattern.  We think the person whos doing all this is on Deck 1, manipulating the systems on the station.  Whoever it is, seems to want us alive.  If he can maniptulate the systems he can manipulate the security stations systems and seal us in anywhere we go.  So lets try not to blow much of the station up as we move out.  Your with me, get men from the Lothlorien to beam over and help with the deck by deck search.  Try and watch the Station securities backs on this one.  Whoever is doing this may be more then there simple training can handle." Balkazar said as he tapped his commbadge and ordered another battle armor suit to be beamed over.  Once it materialized he hopped into the suit and turned to leave.

"Oh, another thing, Lt. Swift, never talk to me in that way again.  You dont do it to your superior and you wont do it to me sense I am your superior as well regardless of what branch of the military we are in.  As far as whos in command, only the Admiralty may order me to do anything.  Commander Lollock and I share command for our perspective branches of military.  So watch your back as you search, Lt.  Theres something about you your keeping private and I will find out what it is because im pretty sure its the reason behind your consistent disrespect for the chain of command." Balkazar said as he turned his suit around to face Cook.

"Cook, very good.  You have some standard knowledge of what a search pattern is.  Come if you like but if theres more then one of these blighters you may have some difficulties.  I suggest getting a compression rifle out of the closest armory if you wish to aid us and get suited up in some form of armor unless you wish to do more ducking behind corners.  Also chasing a cat with claws and a guy with a phaser rifle is totally different but lets just agree to disagree.  Richerd told me enough about you that I think you can handle yourself." Balkazar said as he left the room with his men splitting up in teams of 10.

"By the way, Swift.  Marines work better in smaller forces then starfleet security.  You believe larger numbers will win the day when that isnt correct about marines.  We work best in small groups instead of one large one.  On a planet thats in a state of war, large groups will get killed and become fodder for artillery fire.  I would think you would know this already sense you a tactical officer." Balkazar stated as he left the room.

<Outside the command deck the marines split up into teams of 10 and headed for a deck by deck search of the station.  Balkazar along with Richerd and 8 other marines in armored suits stood outside the doors of the command deck waiting for the Starfleet officer to join them>

((Where do we post this stuff at Julian?, there has to be a mission thread isnt there for this ?))

"Just wait a minute commander, I'm a little confused here. I know as much about temporal physics as a Klingon knows about Ghandi, but I always thought that chaos theory or something taught us that there were an infinite number of alternate realities. That in these realities anything that could ever happen has happened, all possible possibilities played out. I had always assumed that the Mirror universe was one of these countless alternate realities, but since the first hole was created there was almost a temporal link that could connect the two and make any future rifts in space time easy to open. But from what you said it kinda sounded like the device made some alternate realities. So are you saying the device made a whole bunch of alternate realities or that it simply opened up a hole, a door way through to these realities that could, in theory, now be accessed?" Swift asked, he actually knew quite a bit on the subject and want to ask a probing question.  His scientific curiosity was peaked and he had trouble hiding his intelligence, though he thought he had done it well.

((OOC: Just wanted to clear up a few scientific things there. The energy required to create a universe is literally astronomical. It would require the entire energy of the host universe to create it. However luckily for us chaos theory states that, due to the way particles behave on a subatomic level, every possible choice or decision or outcome or possibility is played out in some alternate reality. Thus it could be possible for the device to open doorways to these realities.))

Either that, or the blackout was meant to happen so that fleet could come through and attack the station without any trouble from our defence turrets around the planet and the station defences. we were completely defenceless then. If it were for the fact that our fleet miraculously was all at the station at the time, we probably would have been in alot of trouble.

My main concern is the safety of the crew of the Iroquois. I think the station needs to be put on full guard and a few of our turrets should be moved to the location of the rift for extra security.

Might i remind you Colonal that the marines are starfleet, and that dantor is a starfleet base. Don't even think for a second that this base is for marines only.

I dont need a grumpy senior officer trying to tell me what to do on my own station. And how dare you try to say that your marines are better than the starfleet officers. I did not organise this meeting to have you yell down my throat. I have the safety of 100's of thousands of ppl both on this station and on this planet to look out for. I never once said that you weren't good enough to do your job. I think you do your jobs quite well, i have seen it myself on the romulan invasion.

If we are to work together than your going to have to change your attitude towards us starfleet officers, especially those of higher rank than your own.

I would not ask for reports on whats going on if i didn't think it was of high importance. Half of the high command live on this station, i cant have you marines taking off on mission whenever you feel necessary, not if it brings risk to the station.

You must see where i am coming from, i dont want to intrude more than i have to but the safety of the federations presence in the delta quadrant lies in my hands, if this station falls then the federation is surely doomed. Hence why we moved to a safer place. Somewhere where we have a both naval and ground troop advantage.

Your request to have a marine base camp will be accepted, and i request that i have one of your marines as a leason as such, on the station, who will be sitting in on senior officer meetings and will have full contact with you all. And i expect Captain Janeway to do the same on Dantor.

OCC* i edited my first post to add in an open comm-link with the high command so they can hear in. i hope im not gettin ya too grumpy bal :)

There was a lot of political red tape he didn't like and keeping information from the Admiralty was an absurd thing to do in his book. Even if they didn't tell the men at the bottom, which he regretfully admitted he was one of, the people at the top should at least know. What was to be gained by not sharing important tactical information with people who were part of your own military?

"Good thinking, about the safety zone, the only question is; how soon can we have that underground city completely secured and ready for receiving refugees? I recommend we don't wait with that until we've built the base. For all we know, we could be attacked next week, or maybe even tomorrow. We shouldn't take any risks and see if we can find a way to simultaneously work on the base, as well as on the underground city."

No i think this is all.

Ok here is the situation. About 4 hours ago, we recieved a distress signal from the U.S.S Iroquois. They were investigating a wierd anomoly the Station picked up on its long range sensors.

The anomoly appeared not long before the blackout on the station. We thought it may be just a coincidence. But it wasnt. As the Iroquois got closer to the anomoly, they were sucked up into it. Lt. Commander Teranis was able to launch a distress signal out towards our location just in time. But thats not all. Hes a smart engineer and has good tactical traits. He encoded all the data so far they had on the rift.

Our engineers only an hour ago decoded the information and it was sent straight to me under the highest priority. It turns out the anomoly is a rift to the Mirror Universe that Captain Sisco a few years ago went into. Comm Teranis managed to get a glimpse of the other side of the rift once he figured out what it was and this is what he got..

*a holographic picture showed up in the middle of the table showing 20 Alliance maked small attack cruisers sitting on the other side of the rift.*

"What the Admiral means, Sir.  Is that the defense satillites could have 2 settings.  1) setting could be set to fire on any and all enemy ships ? 2) we could have men manning different stations here on the station or base, then when the station falls under attack those stations can be manned by men who are trained to operate them.  Meaning while your here on the station the satillite could be somewhere else.  So in essense its like a manned person turret from the 19th century.  They used to man turrets on the back of planes to shoot down enemy fighters or bomb enemy structures.  Julian is suggesting the same thing I think, except we are controlling the satillites from the safety of the station."

"I think the mine field is good and the listening posts."

"Computer bring up a holographic map of the system."

<In seconds a holographic map of the Dantor system shows on a pedestal>

"Now theres several places where you could set up listening posts, they would be hidden from sight I would think.  Theres an asteroid field here. <Points to the northern area of the map and runs his finger along where the asteroid field is>.  Then if you wanted too have one hidden from sensors completely, I think the R&D have figured out a way to scan nebulae's if not then its not a good idea.  But theres a nebula on the southern tip of the sector."

"I also suggest that on Dantor we begin to find a safety zone for say incase we need to evacuate Avalon station for any reason they can be beamed or shuttled from the station to the planet with relitive ease.  Dantor is littered with underground caverns.  I remember one such cavern awhile ago.  I was assisting an alien to help combat metallic spiders that slaughtered the alien's race and she was the last of her kind.  Last I knew was that the spiders were destroyed but the underground lab where we got the data to kill the spiders were still lost till a few months ago when we started to excavate the underground city.  I think its clear now but its been sealed off only senior military staff is allowed to go anywhere near that city.  Its located under the northern part of the city, not sure how far it goes otherwise, but as I said its off-limits till we are done."

"As for Starfleet Base of Operations.  That part of the city has seen some rioting when the power went out, should be relatively safe now.  Theres a building that was used as our old operations base till we moved to the northern end of the city its still able to be used tho needs some work.  The building is protected by a wall to protect its grounds from eavesdropping.  Thats your best bet there.  Tho its in some disarray."

Welcome Admiral, as i said to you in your office, much to discuss lol.

Mr. Cook, i know i did cut your time down their short, so you weren't able to do a full detailed layout of the dome, but from what you saw, how were they maintaining their food supply?? i mean they were eating cats?

Once the HC has made a decision on what to do here, i will be sending 2 more teams down. 1 to find another location for our base, which will be lead by Lt. Kassie, and the 2nd which i will be leading, to assosiate ourselves better with the species.

Uh i know there will be many questions, but i ask that Lt Kassie give her report first, that way her report might answer questions we might have. Lt?

Commander Cook only nodded.

"I will answer The admiral's Question first if you do not mind Mr Swift." He said the name with respect and no ill will in his voice.

"Admiral, I guess I either didn't explain clearly or forgot, once you quote unquote enter a Dimension, the computer core of the Generator is able to save the mathematical numbers of both dimensions, and frankly speaking, the generator was built with us in mind, so they had our dimension qourtinates saved into the computer banks of the Generator."

He then turned to talk to Swift. "You are correct, the Generator does not create Universes, it is like I said before, the key to letting us visit the universes.... What I read was a Temporal explosion of some kind... completely unlike anything I read before... Did I make myself any clearer? Or are you still confused about some things?"

"Seems like a good idea about the phaser turrets. And indeed, we wouldn't want our defense systems to disable each other. By making the mines stop the phaser fire, it would, make the phaser turrets less effective. We would have to make sure the shields only encompass the mines, and don't spread out too much. We will have to be able to fire just past the mines, without the shields stopping the fire. Do you understand what I mean?"

Yes admiral, i apologize if any of my officers have offended you sir. Anyway, we headed toward the freighter when we began to detect residual weapons signitures. We later found the frieghter and a small fleet of Herran vessels engaged in combat. We were able to hold off the Herran however our ship took heavy damage. We hid **the word hurt her sense of Klingon pride** in a nebula to avoid there sensors. To wait for the Lothlorian's assistance.

That is the abridged version sir.

"Sure Colonel." Swift said plainly, hiding his disbelief, most of the marines he had met could take a joke. He really didn't know what was wrong with this guy. "I apologise, I'll make a note of your lack of sense of humour for future consideration." He added as sincerely and emotionless as a Vulcan, managing to perfectly hide his sarcasm and to suppress the smug grin he wanted to show.

"I love exploration." Swift said as he skim read the padd. "Let's hope it's something strange and wonderful. When I was on my mother's ship we ran in to an ordinary looking anomaly, unfortunately if I told you what happened I would be breaking the temporal prime directive. Though I can tell you it was very cool. I would say though that the sooner we get there the better. If it is something normal we will have wasted little time on it, if the anomaly is only there for a short period of time we need as much time as possible to study it, and also if it is dangerous the sooner we find out the sooner we can solve whatever potential problem is there.
"It would have been better if we had set out earlier but I guess the repairs took as along as they needed. Although a warp capable probe could have been launched to take a gander while our repairs were conducted, a class eight probe could have been there by now and given us an idea of what we were running in to. Not that I'm complaining, I like surprises." Swift added with a sly grin. He really did like surprises.

Swift openly yawned as Balkazar talked to him and showed no signs of paying any attention. However once he had followed Commander Lollock and she began to speak her paid very close attention to her.
"Yes ma'am." Swift said and he ordered one of the crewmen to grab a few phaser rifles and hand held phasers. "Ma'am I would not suggest any form of armour though. I find such things more cumbersome then helpful." The crewmen returned with the rifles and began handing them out, Swift himself attached his phaser to his belt along with a second phaser, he held the rifle loosely by his side. Her questioned the crewman about grenades but the crewman simply shook his head. Swift turned his attentions back to Commander Lollock. "Ma'am I would suggest that the groups regularly report in to you. I would say once every five minuets should be enough. That way if a team is wiped out due to a lack of man power we will be well aware and able to converge on that position. I hope this won't happen, however for someone to infiltrate a base of this caliber then they must have a lot of man power and be highly trained. Either that or it's a single agent with skill to rival my own... Erm... That was a tad arrogant wasn't it?" He asked no one in particular. "Anyway the sooner this is over with the better, although I am looking forward to a little combat."

Post by: Weasly Cook on November 24, 2007, 07:32:52 AM
Commander Cook only stood as he name was called and waited for his Captain to appear a little calmer. He cleared his throat.

"Yes, I have indeed taken sensor data, most unusual data, it seems that the rift is using a form of a previously unknown layer of subspace... similar... well, the closest that I can think of describing it right now is a long hallway of doors... and the rift generator is a skeleton key for every single door... the only variance in this is.... We are blindfolded, only after opening a door and having the blindfold taken off can we know the location and what it behind it."

He took a breath realizing that he was talking faster and faster. So he took another deep breath to calm down. "Problem is, the last nanosecond that we had the rift generator open... I thought I read a temporal detonation shockwave. Meaning, we might have witnessed an infinite amount of new mirror univereses... meaning.... we could have anything from a mirror Federation to a Borg Invested galaxy." He looked green and ill at that thought before he quickly moved to another topic.

He punched up the scans and what appeared to be a spiderweb of yellow lines appeared. "This is what the scans showed for the second that we were in the rift generator... beyond those swirling walls of energy... well, let's just say we were lucky nothing shock us into a wall or we might be in a whole other universe, this is a worm hole that appears to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time." He sighed... "Even I had trouble to get it to be this readable in this short of time... let's just say Starfleet will have a good hundred or more years of research from our little trip along with Mirror Universe Rift technology."

He smiled then at his Captain. "So, with the Temporal effects... they might not even have the technology to come to our side again... I hope."

He looked at the Admiral. "Sadly ... all we have is the hardware and wires... all the software... well, wiped itself clean, safety means it seemed, but we might be able to use just this to maybe reverse engineer something... I hope."

However he knew and rather hoped this was to be deemed top secret, be shelved and never dabbled with, for a wrong misstep could lead to... well, who knows what.

((I hope that this is okay, I am not a good scientist to be honest, but I wanted to make it somewhat interesting.... in case we want to play with this Drive anytime again."

OFF: sorry i haven't been on guys, i've been workin 11 hours shifts for the past 3 days :S

On:

*after getting his drink, the Vice Admiral sits on the closest chair next the the High-Command Flag Admiral*

*looks towards the Admiral and nods*

Sir.

Hmm. I think from now on when there is a Starfleet meeting, only the marine liason should attend unless the senior officers insist on being here. The same with marine meetings.

Admiral what Mr Patric and Mr Archer have both said has pretty much summed things up.

Mr Patric, what you have to understand in this situation, is the Admiral is of the High-Command, he shouldn't need to go through us to change things around, however he will still inform us of whats going to happen, he wont just do it over our heads.

Ok. Back to working on the defences and the station. Mr. Archer have you infored the Ensign of her task as of yet? Please have her join us in say half an hour or so, so we can get her input on what she thinks should happen. I've been up for a bit this morning making sure the station was back up to 100% after the transporting. It's going well.

Also i've been looking into our mine field.

*presses his pad. A holographic image of the planet and the current position of the station in orbit appears in the middle of the room*

I've been looking at different ways of haveing the mines set up, but i keep getting stumped.

*presses another button on his pad and a whole heap of dots around the planet appear, representing the mine field*

So far this is the best idea i have been able to come up with.

*points towards the mines*

as you can see the mines are fairly spread out however they would have a wide-spread effect, and would cause the most damage to the larger ships that might possibly attack.

for the smaller, say shuttle sized vessels however,

*presses another button and larger dots appear*

i would like to set up automated phaser turrets, as they would be more agile and could simply move around the mines. the one problem there is if the turrets hit a mine. so my idea is to have the shield frequency of the mines changed to not be effected by the phaser fire.

what do you think?

*takes a sip of his drink*

<Feeling a lil apprehensive due to HC in the room>

"Yes of course, thank you, Julian."

"ALF has been completely honest, truthful, and very trusting of us despite our technological advancement.  There technology has been centered around nanites and ALF was the one who created them.  From what I have learned was that he was into robotics.  He told me that the nanites wasnt used as weapons until later, his nanites was indeed a form of advancement to help maintain computer systems, maintain health and prolong there health, then the nanites over a period of time formed into a higher sentient life and inorder to protect themselves they tried to heal the wounded bodies but they were too dead to bring back to life so they put themselves into a state of self cryostasis, which in turn preserved ALF's brothers who were the dead bodies.  We found roughly 40 armored bodies of ALF's race still in there body armor with claw marks on the armor as well as evidence of a firefight breaking out, 5-10 of the 40 who were killed was indeed ALF's brothers.  I think the nanites reprogrammed themselves while retaining there creators main purpose was to 'Preserve life' to protect there creators and form into a higher sentient life form.  Its true that we could be dealing with 2 life forms but we need to keep in mind that our prime directive is to preserve life, we have the same goal in this context, ALF was never hostile towards us the only hostility as had was when we first entered the control room for the cryostasis tubes, we had to deal with the bunkers security systems."

"Alf's species from what I gather, are scientists, farmers, they are peaceful and refrain from fighting unless its a last resort but they rather stay out of the fight then to join in one.  From what I saw rather quickly was that there was a garden in those domes, its possible that over the centuries that they learned from the past and started to become vegetarian rather then meat eater's.  As Mr Cook said they built there base to collapse certain area's of the base.  It was probly devised to protect whatever was on the otherside of the debris.  Whatever it was had to be pretty darn important to collapse a part of the base."

"I think we should try and help ALF and his people because they were in stasis for quite a few centuries or even more and they wake to find that instead of 20th century machine guns we got 24th century weaponry.  So to leave them defenseless is like signing there own death warrant.  Even tho they arent as advanced as we are they could be a very good addition to any base."

"Julian brought up that he couldnt beam into deck 3 I believe it was, I think the reason was that the Nanites were trying to protect ALF's species that survived the war.  They were trying to protect the Dome's which could be a very good reason why you couldnt beam onto deck 3."

OOC**I cant think of anything else.  I think I was a lil excentric and what I was trying to say may have gotten confused or thought of in an entirely different way from the (PEACEFUL! outcome) that I was aiming for.

Ah Well Admiral after we received the probe from the Iroquois to let us know that is was on the way out, Colonel Balkazar was on the Heranni Ship fighting for control for it sir. I say this with respect sir because they most unfortunately lost the lives of some very necessary Marines. Including Colonel Balkazar's Brother in law sir.

They Gained control of the ship and backed slowly out of  the nebula, so we knew it was them. Once they were out the Iroquois joined the two ships to make it a three on two advantage. Where by we distroyed the other ships on the way out of the nebula.

"Negative Captain, I checked the data banks with those of the station, there have been no changes to our own past, only... I am not sure of how the past of the Mirror Universe is now... what ever it was, it changed only their own universe and nothing outside of it... one reason might be... because of our past interactions with them, led them to the use of the temporal weapon which without our intervention might never have happened, so... because we might have been the trigger, it protected us from time changes... or that is how I view it."

He liked Temporal Mechanics because very frankly in his mind, he couldn't be wrong... in one or another timeline.

*Vorak listens intently to what is being said, leans back in his chair and raises one eyebrow.*
"Quite fascinating. Before initial construction on Starphoenix Base began several years ago, scientific research of the planet ensured us that there was no other intelligent life form on the planet Dantor. I will have to report this to Starfleet Command so that they can ensure that such errors will not be made again in the future. As for my studies of previous reports of the planet Dantor, it appears that there was once an intelligent life form on this planet, until it was nearly entirely wiped out by a devastating attack of the Na'jigat several centuries ago. I do not know if you are aware of what happened when the Na'jigat attacked Starphoenix Base a few years ago, and nearly destroyed it, and the discoveries that were made in an underground laboratory beneath the base. However, moving the base to an entirely different location on the planet will be extremely much work, so therefore I would propose to offer a deal with this race. We should know first if they have a problem with our base on top of their underground city, and secondly, if they experience any damage from our base being there. If not, then maybe our base could remain where it is, while in return they could also make use of the facilities of Starphoenix Base and thus integrate with intergalactic society."

Was there any survivors on the freighter?

Oh and Col Balkazar, you cannot classify information on that ship from me my friend. I want a full diagnostics report on my bench on the Planet Tomorrow morning.

Welcome back Mr Titan. Whats the news from Admiral Yates?

Admiral, we already have plans for turrets and such. We organasied that at our meeting here last night. And with the mines sir, they lay there dormant until we activate them, so its harmless for our allies if we make it that way. Plus having mines helps control who is coming onto and off of the planet. Although, the planet is full of marines, and im sure they can handle anything that gets thrown at them (i mean if enemies land and such), so maybe no mines is a good idea. Mr Patric what do you mean?

Take a seat.

I know you crew have gone through alot in this last mission but there's a matter Starfleet Command can no longer ignore. As you should already know, The Borg borderlines into the Doid Nexus which is in Delta Alliance space. As of late while we have been too busy fighting the war on the Na'Jigat, the Doid's have been holding off the Borg. However there is a problem. The Borg have figured a way past the Doid Nexus Defences and we need to know how. Your mission will be to fly through Delta Alliance Space and into the Droid Nexus to investigate. On your way you will be giving supplies to the people on Traquel Beta who have been hit hard recently by the borg. You are then to continue into the Droid Nexus to Unit 1 where you will be delivering a package from Starfleet. Its precious cargo and its sealed and deemed classified. Your main objective however is to go straight to the front line defences of the Droids and find out where the Borg are slipping through and why. You are only to engage the Borg if Needed.

((OOC: I suggest we move this discussion, as we are intruding the conference here with purely OOC comments.

However, to answer your question, in the Voyager episode you are talking about (it's actually 2, but whatever), Voyager appeared to be involved in the destruction of the Sol system due to a temporal explosion.  Pretty major, considering that it is both humanity's homeworld and the Federation's capital.  Anyhow, since Voyager seemed to be the cause, Captain Braxton came to stop Voyager from the destruction that it never caused in the first place.  However, when Voyager caused him to lose control of his ship, he had Voyager transported to the same time as when he figured the time jump that caused the temporal explosion started, which happens to be in the 1990s.  Since Henry Starling had altered the timeline by using the timeship's technology to speed up humanity's techonological pace by decades, this caused another problem.  Voyager had Starling eliminated when he tried to use the timeship that would ultimately cause the temporal explosion that cause all of this in the first place.  Since Starling was stopped however, the whole incident essentially never happened, so Captain Braxton, who now doesn't remember the whole incident since as far as he was concerned, it never happened, bought Voyager back to the same exact time and place Voyager was before it was transported to 20th century Earth.

Many of the time traveling episodes seen in Star Trek are either predestination, where the people were suppose to travel back in time to maintain the timeline (I know a few Deep Space Nine episodes had this), a "reset button", where some temporal event eliminates everything terrible that happened in the episode (ex. Year of Hell, Twilight), or an accidential trip back in time, which in that case, the ship would try to avoid meddling in the timeline and find a way back, and/or fix any mistakes that they might have caused by traveling back (ex. Star Trek: First Contact).  Lastly, there is an intentional trip back in time, to alter the timeline (ex. Endgame).  There are some variations, but this pretty much constitutes most of the temporal events in Star Trek.

Now can we please move this discussion elsewhere?  PMing is a possiblility too.))

ICC:

(before Hodsons transmission) In regard to these sentiant beings, from my own observations, they act more like a family pet in a manner of speaking. An example being a dog, it is trained to protect its owner from harm, and if trained properly, it would not attack anyone it didn't think to be a threat of its owner, and if it did the owner would tell it to stop and it would. This case is very similar in that the nanites were created to protect their species. They did their job so well, that they became sentiant in the process.

I also believe that they would not harm us, and if they would the species Alf belongs to would tell them not to. Im sure Alf has probably already done so, expecting us to return. Because there are so few of these nanites, i think the best course of action would simply be to leave them for Alf to deal with.

Lt. Kassie, although you would like a small team, i would prefer a few more people coming along. I have an ensign in mind who may want to help out. As well as...

Yes Janeway is currently help a team of engineers install a new form of "anti-Borg" shielding technology that we got from the U.S.S Voyager on its return to the Alpha Quadrant. It has a different shielding frequency every 3rd of a micron (OFF:eh i think micron is from farscape but itr sounds cooler than microsecond :P) So the borg will have a very hard time adjusting. a new cover armour of tritanium Alloy was going to also be installed however there wont be enough time to calibrate it correctly. There will also be a few small additions to your arsenal. They are a torpedo still in its prototype stage however there is a limited supply for your use. You getting 10 of these and you will be the first live testing on these weapons and we think if engagment between the borg is needed then it is a perfect opportunity to test them out.

<Turning to Admiral Karellia>

"Admiral.  Its my place to ensure not to disrupt either starfleet nor marine matters with this situation you abruptly tossed our way.  I cannot do my job if you go behind me.  I think what the Col. MEANS to say is that its not needed to change things when there fine the way they are.  You came here to Dantor for a more strategic advantage.  Now you turn a advantage into a disadvantage by this.  Your taking one of the most well trained companies to do work that your security is well enough to do on there own.  The Col. just mentioned in yesterdays meeting that he will protect the station which is why I am here with Foxtrot company.  Theres no need to change things around to give a disadvantage to yourself and the marines.  Theres no use for it.  But I believe my objections fall on deaf ears sense your alredy made up your mind and nothing is stopping you from having your marines slaughtered on the front lines because you want Bravo to stay on the station.  If you want more blood on your hands with that folly then its on your hands not ours."

We'd be hindering our allies as well, such as trade with the Alliance. I plan on petitioning Starfleet so send a regular rotation of combat task forces to the area to help defend our borders. With regular reinforcements from Earth, the Heraan will have a tougher time preying on us. Cook was not trying to be a fatilist... just trying to remind the audience of the possiblity of another race.

I faced hostility from the moment I got on there, they showed an eager willingness to steal our technology, and they have enslaved a species of sentient beings. Frankly If some one is a slaver and likes to steal I don't trust them an inch. I think that one of two might have their hearts in the right places, but mostly I don't like them. They aren't a direct threat, not at thier current level of technology and pure man power, though they could be a more covert and subtle threat. Definitely something to lookout for and certainly worth researching a way to keep them out... also you as a woman, I have to say, not all that great looking sir." He stopped and looked around as the power went out, and then the backup power went out. "What in blazes?" He shouted as the only light came from outside the station. "What happened?"
