Ready Room, Concordia

David went over the crew data, mission files, and orders one more time. There were a ton of transfers that had just cleared, quite a few promotions and re-assignments, a duty roster from his first officer, details about his next task, and files on who was coming along for the ride.

((OOC: To my new players: After you are given you duty assignments, I will unlock this topic. Since Commander Allen has not met most of you, I would like to see you post a little about yourself, before we get underway.

Stuff that He would see in your Starfleet file. Who you are, Where your from, quirks, special skills... You get the idea!!))

...Karl was overjoyed to hear he was being promoted, as he walked the already familiar halls of the Concordia, he found himself outside of the Captains quarters and didnt wait for proper protocol and walked in...

"Captain, I dont think we official met. I am Karl Urban recently promoted to your First officer and Chief of Tactical and Security aboard the Concordia, if their is anything I can help you with to make your new transition into the ship a bit more smoother dont hesitate to ask and I will try my best to accomodate." Karl said to Allen.

"Mr. Urban" David said, as he rose, and extended his hand to shake, "I have been instructed to promote Mr.Elfeneye to the post of Chief of Tactical and Security. I have a much more important job for you. Please sit down. Would you like a drink?"

He paused.

"Make no mistake, when it is time to make hard and fast tactical decisions, I will trust you to counsel me, first and formost. You are my right hand, Sir. I won't make any decision with out you. Your new job goes way beyond anything you have come up against as a department head. You must make sure all departments are functioning for me, and on this mission you must also help me keep our destenation, and mission goal an absolute secret. I will spare you the details now. I want to brief the senior staff at the same time, to insure no one is unclear."

Davis entered the transporter room, tossing a brief backward glance toward chief Hametsu, who had paused a moment in the corridor with a look of curious confusion. "Chief Hametsu have you forgotten the way?" "Of course not, sir." Chief Hametsu grinned slightly, an ineffectual attempt to hide from the astute of Davis, the touch of nervousness that now clouded his brow. Davis had been in a stange, almost mischievous, mood ealier that morning. He had asked Chief Hametsu to accompany him to the transporter room to help him to his new duty new station on the U.S.S. Concordia.

The freshly promoted Klingon stood in his quarters, adjusting the shiny black pip . He will meet his assistants soon. He will meet the new captain too. He was, nonetheless, ready for their next mission. He knew he could channel the anticipation into a great performance at his station which was surprisingly hectic even though nothing seemed to be happening. he straightened his uniform and walked out.

CSO's Office, Concordia

It had only been a few days since Alan's promotion, but that did not stop him from taking the bull by the horns. He was able to make some upgrades to the science lab, that in his mind were long overdue, but had fallen on deaf ears when he was but a lowly ensign. He guessed that his new rank, and news of his sucessful rescue of Commander Shepard, had earned him some small bit of clout. He used it to ensure that his new staff(and himself) had nothing but the best tools and computers available.

He had sent the requisition request to his old friend, and new XO, Karl Urban. He started getting stuff the next day.

Alan guessed that Commander Allen never saw it, or Urban had advised him to approve it. Either way, Larson was just about to finish putting his new imager through it's paces, Then he was off to see Urban, and thank him in person.

David had gone over the update that Urban had sent him. Engineering was just about done with there diagnostic work, and needed to test the engines at warp to finish. Science had finished there upgrade ahead of the alotted time given them.

He didn't like the idea of leaving without a doctor, but he knew from the files that the CSO and the EMH could tackle just about any emergency. He decided not to wait any longer for the doctor SF Command had promised him almost a week ago.

He also learned that both of his "special guests" were onboard, so time was of the essence.

He double checked the crew roster. All were accounted for. He decided to leave a little early, just to see how his new crew responded to a surprise.

He slid through the ready room door onto the bridge. His new XO was the only one who noticed. Urban rose from the command chair, and nodded.

"Shall we take her for a spin Mr.Urban?" David said.

He watched as all heads snapped in his direction. Clearly the bridge crew did not expect to see him for the next few hours, when the ship was slotted for departure.

He waited for Urban to answer.

Agent Davis slowly entered his quarters, the day had worn him out. He wasn't quite used to moving so much on a ship so large, but he was becoming acclimated quickly. Not much to his surprise, there was nothing suspicious about the ship. The only strange thing that happened was that despite his first day on the ship he had not crossed paths with Casden, though he figured with the meeting. One more job left, and it just happens to be the one I hate most, he thought as he put one hand to his forehead in exasperation.

Ensign Velok - Shuttlecraft Lysander, Earth Orbit

Velok shifted, more than a little nervous but completely unwilling to admit it to himself. He peered out of the windows of the shuttlecraft as it ascended from the atmosphere of the Federation capital world, the world that had also served as his home for the past four years while he attended Starfleet Academy.

He had to admit, as much as he valued and respected the unique beauty of Vulcan itself, Earth certainly had an appeal to it. The planet had long been classified as a paradise world, with the precise weather control systems and the significant but smooth temperate climates. Velok had specifically noted the planet's inclusion of countless different biomes, something his planet lacked. Earth had tropical zones, swamps, forests, frozen tundras, and deserts. Meanwhile, Vulcan, as well as many planets in the Federation, consisted of only single biome, or a very small selection.

"Alright," came the voice of the shuttle pilot. "Everyone, fasten those safety harnesses. We're about to enter null-space."

Velok ensured that his safety harness was securely fastened, and turned his head to look through the forward viewport. "McKinley Station Control, this is the shuttlecraft Lysander. We're ready to proceed to null-space."

"Acknowledged, Lysander. Proceed to Catapult Waypoint Alpha, uploaded to your navigation system now."

"Roger."

The shuttlecraft maneuvered it's way into position, equidistant from the two catapult arms, and right in line with the launch emitters. "Waypoint reached, McKinley. Ready to engage."

"Understood. Engaging launch emitter array."

Ten bright beams of energy lanced out from the catapult, five from each arm, and attached to the shuttlecraft. "Engaging null-space launch in three... two... one..." Suddenly, in a spectacle that made warp drive look like a brisk walk, the shuttlecraft was thrown into null-space.

The view outside the shuttlecraft was absolutely brilliant, and while Velok had been trained as a tactical officer, his species was one of scientists at heart, and so he was enthralled by the experience. He spent nearly an hour recalling everything he had learned at the Academy about the null-space catapults that had been erected throughout Federation space, which linked them closely to their recent allies, the Delta Alliance. That entire hour was spent remarking on how, despite the brilliance of the design, it paled in comparison to the actual experience.

Robbing him of his reverie, the shuttlecraft abruptly left null-space, replacing the vibrant blues and violets with blank space, filled with nothing but distant points of light, and the visage of the Jupiter-class space station that resided in this section of space, accompanied by the Intrepid-class starship that was his new home.

"U.S.S. Concordia," came the pilot's voice once more, "this is the shuttlecraft Lysander, requesting permission to dock."

Commander Ian Shepard - Captain's Quarters, Deck 3, U.S.S. Concordia

Ian stepped out of the sonic shower and donned a freshly replicated uniform, the fabric fitting perfectly around his large frame. He retrieved his rank pips and secured them to his collar, and affixed his commbadge to his left breast. Shepard left his quarters, and began the short walk to the turbolift.

The Concordia had spent the last few days under close inspection, to ensure that absolutely no trace of the aging compound remained onboard. In addition, several members of Starfleet Intelligence had arrived to debrief the senior staff and to remove all data regarding the compound from the ship's database. Apparently, the chemical was top-secret, and although Ian took issue with Starfleet Intelligence tampering with his ship's computer, the orders had come from the top, and he was in no position to resist.

"Deck One, bridge," he stated upon entering the turbolift. In any case, the Concordia had checked out, and was now on it's first real exploration mission since entering the Delta Quadrant. It was always Ian's hope that he'd be exploring the frontier, ever since he'd learned of Captain Picard as a boy, and had followed the missions of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the newscasts. He'd been lucky enough to actually meet Picard once, as a second-year cadet at Starfleet Academy.

The turbolift door slid open, pulling Shepard from his reminiscence. He stepped over to his command chair and took a seat, looking over to Commander Reid in the seat to his left. "What do you say we get underway, hmm?" he asked. Alyssa smiled in response, and Shepard looked ahead to his helm officer. "Ensign, set heading to two-one-nine by three-four-one. Engage at warp six."

Doctor Lieutenant Daniel O'Mannin – Personal Quarters - U.S.S. Concordia

Daniel sighed deeply. He had just finished dictating the last of his reports concerning the incident with Doctor Brackman and was relieved it was finally over. There outcome for the one Ensign that had been assaulted by the Borg and given their treatment of choice, Nanoprobe injection, has received the treatment plan he had worked out and would be returning to active duty on this duty roster. It was a testament to both the Doctor and Ensign Larson that everything had went so well for him.

There was however a problem, minor as it might be at the moment, and that was Doctor O'Mannin's hormones were out of balance. He had noticed some of the female crew giving him the once over a few too many times and the sly smiles that accompanied them left him no doubt that something was amiss. Even the male members of the staff were becoming irritable, a sure indicator he needed to address the issue. At first he had written off the actions of the men as stress related or perhaps a tinge of jealousy over his recent promotion but soon he could not dismiss the symptoms and had started treatment.

His first method involved self-medication of sorts with a holographic encounter but that lasted for about a day before they had returned to normal. Now he would have to move on to stage two, the injection, and see how successful that would be.

The young officer glanced in the mirror for one last checking to see everything was in order. He reached up and adjusted the black pip he had recently received even though there really was no real need to. He smiled at himself and than passed through the sliding door into the corridor beyond. Daniel was relieved to find no one waiting for him as he approached the turbolift and as the doors closed behind him he sighed once again, "Sickbay deck 5," he said and than added, "thank you."

He chided himself for his need for politeness even to the ships computer system yet it had served him well in many ways. Often it had softened people's opinions of him when he did so to sentient beings but the computer, even the EMH ever seemed to notice.

The door opened and Daniel stepped into the corridor that still was vacant of personnel. He briskly walked the short distance to sickbay and smiled seeing the place was abandoned. Not a single crewman was in need of medical assistance for the moment and that left time for him to get better acquainted with his new position and the responsibilities it entailed. He slid into his newly cleaned seat in the CMO's office and breathed in deeply, I hope it stays this quiet for a while, he thought to himself and tapped the computer interface, "computer," he said, "please access all records on the duties of the Chief Medical Officer."

The screen burst to life, "acknowledged," the feminine voice said as words and graphics began to cross the screen.

Daniel spoke again, "computer please read document using protocol Alpha 216." Soon he was lost within the automated world of words gathering as much information he could about this new position he now had.

Science Lab,Concordia

Larson continued to study the data he gathered on the small ticking device that Ensign Mimas stumbeled on a few weeks before, and was still baffeled by its strange magnetic properties. The time that he spent studing this object was his own, however, because he had not been ordered to study it. He, and the entire science depatment had been taking orders from the ops department while in spacedock. Alan never thought to ask why. He just assumed that Lt.Martin was too busy to oversee his department directly, or he had been granted some leave. Larson also thought that maybe Starfleet Command was calling the shots, or maybe even Starfleet Intellegence. He went about his duty, expecting Lt.Martin to be back in the lab when Concordia was back underway.

This was not the case. He received fresh orders to continue diagnostic work, now that the engines were at warp, just to make sure everything was tip-top while in motion, as well as in dock. The orders came from ops." Where is Lt.Martin?",he thought. If he needed to know, Alan guessed someone would have told him by now. "I wish I knew where we were going, at least, so I can read up on wherever it is while I'm tring to sleep tonight."

Members of the staff were beginning to make their way threw the sliding doors into varying areas within the medical department. Each were content on following their portion of the duty roster he had given them but a glance form one of the male nurses reminded him he had been negligent, oh yah, he thought, my shot. The Doctor sighed and stood back up and made his way into the medical lab. Some of the female staff looked up and smiled while the males faces were either indifferent or shown a hint of irritation at his presence.

His hormones were a problem ever since he had reached puberty. Perhaps it was the mixing of his mother's Betazoidian heritage and that of his unknown heritage of his father but from time to time incidences had arisen. Perhaps if he had not been so thorough in filling out the medical portion of his applications to join the military academy his acceptance would have been more forthcoming. Daniel had chosen to share details that might not have been necessary such as incidences when females had made passes at him or fights had broke out due to his 'medical condition.' Numerous attempts had been made to squelch the hormonal imbalances by a number of means and yet the only solution that had been successful was that of chronic treatment. There was no known cure. Even sterilization had been considered as an option but though rigorous research and computerized simulations there had been no breakthroughs. Seeing he was the only known individual with this particular anomaly there would be no further research performed unless his circumstances warranted it and that he hoped would never occur.

Upon entering the lab he began to concoct the unique serum that would be injected into his blood stream. It would take a while for its effects to take hold and until then he would have to deal with the uneasiness of the males and the unintentional flirtation of the females affected. Once the mixture was obtained Daniel loaded the amber fluid into a hypospray and placed the loaded instrument against the anterior portion of his wrist just above his radial artery. There was a momentary pained expression on his face as the viscose fluid broke through the skin and tissue barrier and the liquid began to enter the vein he had selected. It was a task he had performed many times. Like the old treatments for a condition known as Diabetes Mellitus where the individual might have to give themselves injections of Insulin to control their blood sugar levels he had been forced to inject himself with the unpleasant medication in order to reduce the levels of hormones being produced.

Daniel looked up and saw one of the female nurses entering the lab. She smiled broadly, "hello Doctor," she said with a glint in her eye.

"Hello Ensign Haskel," came his reply as he put the medical instrument away as a means of distracting himself from the situation.

The nurse was of Bajoran decent and wore her long chestnut brown hair braided to the middle of her back. She walked over and picked up an item she needed and bent over seductively to do it. Her dark eyes looked back to see if the Doctor was watching and of course he was. His eyes darted away and he quickly left the room hoping to retreat for the time being into his office. Great, he thought, now Lieutenant Urban is going to have an excuse to slug me. He entered his office again and pondered what he could do to remedy the situation for the present, at least until the drugs took effect.

"Doctor O'Mannin to Ensign Larson," he said tapping his communication badge," when you get a minute I would like to speak to you."

Daniel was relieved that the science officer would be arriving quickly. He smiled and once again maid the short jaunt to the medical lab. Outside the transparent aluminum window he could see members of his staff conversing and one of the males, Ensign Miller, leaving his department. The humans neck was a crimson red and his face bore the tell tale signs of someone agitated by something. Looking down he saw the hypospray unit he had recently used was now missing pondered for a moment what had happened to it. His musing on the subject were cut short by the arrival of Ensign Larson.
"Ensign," the Doctor said with a smile as the man entered his lab, "thanks' for being so prompt. I hope I am not disturbing anything?"

Absently the doctor pushed a strand of hair from off his brow, a habit he had somehow developed when he was a bit nervous. What he was about to reveal to Larson might come as shock to him and yet probably not. It was not too uncommon for crew members to have some sort of "special needs" but he was the exception. With both a learning disability and a medical disability most would choose to forgo the countless screenings and embarrassing questioning required to receive cleanse to become an officer but Daniel was more than willing. Now he hoped the Ensign would be able to come up with a solution so he would not have to return to his quarters until his hormonal readings had returned to normal.

Daniel chuckled, "relax Ensign, I didn't call you down here because I have a higher hank than yours, I just need your, um, assistance."

The Doctor was feeling nervous again but cleared his throat and began again, "Take a look out that window," he said gesturing towards the clear section of the wall that separated the lab from sickbay. Daniel could easily see his male subordinates whispering among themselves with looks of frustration and concern. Often they would glance through the window at the doctor, there eyes telling even more of their dislike for him. The female nurses were huddling together too and talking in whispers like tantalized school girls sharing secrets. "Any ideas as to what's going on out there Larson," he asked?

Karelia walked slowly down the cobblestone path, breathing deeply the fresh air of the park while he still could. His hand was wrapped loosely around Julia's as she walked beside him. They had both taken their long-awaited leave time here on Earth, anxious to spend time on humanity's verdant homeworld after being given their newest deep-space assignment. Will had a meeting with Admiral Janeway in about thirty minutes, and considering her past circumstances, she had a personal interest in Starfleet's latest venture. Flag Admiral Paris had asked Janeway to accompany the permanent admiralty to Vernemeton Station, the new deep-space outpost in the Delta Quadrant.

It was important to Karelia to make that meeting, but that was thirty minutes from now, plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. "So," Will asked with a smile. "What do you think of our new assignment? We thought Avalon was far from home, but this is taking 'frontier outpost' to a whole new level."

**As they walked a bit further Julia looked into Will's eyes and she was certain that she could see into his soul. Everything that they had gone through in the last couple of months had done nothing but bring them closer together.**

"Well, it certainly is a long way from earth but someone has to expand the frontier and i just assume it be us. But Will i must admit, Avalon always seemed so far from everything. But now that i have you in my life im not so concerned about being far from earth. My grandmother was also in Starfleet, back when portions of the Alpha Quadrant was still part of the great unknown, and she used to tell me that home is where the people you love are not the rock that you happened to be born on. So i'll think of it that way too. My home is whereever you are Will. And even though earth is a great place that i love to visit. Our home can be the great frontier."

Fredrick Dwight entered the small Pub and looked around, he had been on starbase and some ships, but still, he was shocked at how, here he was, in the middle of space and on the frontier. He wondered what his future might hold for him. He was looking forward to the future, he had just finished his final classes for the academy and he was now ready for what the universe will undoubtedly throw at him. He was looking forward to getting to know the crew of his new assignment, but... here he only shook his head, in his eagerness to be ready for his post, he had misread the reports, and he would now be waiting for the ship to come to him, he had arrived before the ship, he just hoped they could handle it without the chief engineer. He blinked as he saw the windows, and the nebula outside them, and for a moment he was blown away by the beauty of it all. So much so that he forgot to reprehend himself for being egotisical about his new posting.

He saw an empty table by the windows, and he wondered why not as many people were enjoying the view, but he didn't want to lose his seat that he saw so he moved right over to it, around his neck, purring relaxingly in his ear, a half asleep feline was curled up around his neck. "Okay Cochrane, here we are... are home away from home... almost." All he got was a small sound, he was unsure if it was an agreement or not... but he wasn't too sure, after being told that the father of the once kitten was a strange feline at times.

However he sat down and soon was looking at a menu that a waiter had dropped by, he didn't see what he thought about the feline, after all, if Data could have a cat survive the D's adventure, why not bring his companion along as well... who knows... he might get some nice alien rodent presents on his tour of Duty, maybe even get to discover a new species completely, all he knew was time was on his side at the moment, a new starbase, a new ship... and the wide unknown, so much technology has advanced just in his life time that he wondered what it would look like by the time he was a Captain of his own space ship he thought to himself and he continued to look out the window at the magnificent nebula.

"Sure hope they wont be going on the Concordia or I may be in sever trouble. After all im in charge of their protection while onboard." Urban quietly said to himself in a half mumble as he hurried to the Concordia.

"Oh dont worry, why would they worry about a Lt who was assigned to the flagship. Im sure they have better things to do." his wife kindly said as she went about her business.

"I know, I need to go and make sure the tactical systems are up and make sure the armory is stocked and everything else sense I dont know if I have a assisttent yet." Urban said sluggishly as he got up and exited his quarters.

<He continued to walk as he found the turbolift and then entered>

"Bridge." Urban called to the computer as it started to move as a sign of acknowledgement.

<Urban walked out of the turbolift and onto the bridge where he saw several engineers tripple checking their work, he went to the Tactical station, their he entered his command code and started to make sure everything was alright should something arrise, then he made sure the armory was stocked and loaded as he went through the computer to double check everything, after 30 minutes he locked out the tactical station and went down to make sure that every weapons locker was in order and phasers were in them>

Dr. Brackman had just finished having a conversation with a friend when his wristband started beeping.

"I hope we meet again soon," said Brackman to his friend, before he pressed a button and said, "QAI, what's our status?"

"Processors are operating at optimal capacity, slipstream connections stable, S.S. Black Sun is still located at previous landing position and is operating flawlessly, Project Chaos is still in progr-"

"Good, QAI, very good," said Brackman absentmindedly, "So do you have any requests to help with the project?"

"An increased number of processors would aid greatly," replied QAI, "I have concluded there are 13 more locations within known space where processors can be placed."

"Hmmm...well, QAI, relay those coordinates to Black Sun for me and I'll do my best to construct processors at those locations."

Brackman soon reached his shuttlecraft, the S.S. Black Sun, which sat in a clearing near a large park in the center of the city. Unlike most vessels, the S.S. Black Sun had no windows to speak of and no entrance could be seen. Brackman continued to walk into a building. As soon as the cooridor he was in was empty, he touched another button on his wristband and said, "Initiating recall in 5...4...3...2...1..." There was a sudden flash of light and Brackman vanished before reappearing inside the S.S. Black Sun.

Brackman sat down in the only seat in the cockpit and began pressing a series of buttons on the central console. The Black Sun began to move vertically and soon reached space.

A view screen popped up and a strange looking object in a red hexagon appeared. "Coordinates set. Heading to destination. ETA 9 hours."

"Very good, QAI," mumbled Brackman before he drifted off into sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Faraness had been flooded with new reports everyday from her senior staff. Starbase 384, named Vernemeton Station, had only been completed not any longer than two weeks ago and it was a tough job to make sure everything was fully operational and running smoothly. There was still alot of internal construction being made. Deck 16 was being created for a new taskforce of marines and was not yet operational. The holodecks were also still not at one hundred percent completion. There were also still a lot of touch-ups that needed to be completed.

The Captain rose from the chair in her office of which she was still not used to, and walking into ops. She looked around at all the Starfleet officers and crewman alike, all of which were racing around like a nest of worker ants. She then glanced up and walked towards the huge window in ops. It were as if half of the ops itself was this contained by this window and boy was there a view.

Staring out into the stars, Faraness watched as transport ships and shuttlecraft buzzed around the station but it was not the ships her eyes were focused on. In the distance, beyond the busy station, was the most beautifull nebula she had ever set her eys on. It almost looked like the clouds back on Earth however this was not a bunch of clouds with the one apparent color in the sky. It looked almost like one single cloud, shaped like a belt that you would wear with your uniform. It stretched all the way around the new station, as far as the eye could see which made it seem almost endless. And the colors of the nebula were all different shades of colors. Although the inside looked almost a dark grey as if they were rainclouds, the edges of the cloud-like nubula, were shades of dark blue and green.

As if the nebula wasnt a spectacle in itself, there were twin suns that enhanced the beauty of the nebula. The nickname given to this natuers blessing was 'The Endless path to Heaven,' as the Nebula seemed endless.

After almost losing herself in the sheer bliss of what would be her daily view, Faraness snapped back into focus as a crewman walked infront of her path. She turned and looked towards a comms officer.

"ETA on our new flagship ensign?" She asked excitedly.

"The U.S.S Concordia is due to arrive in 18 hours sir." The ensign quickly replied after typing a few brief commands into his console.

"Very well. I'll be in my office." The captain stated as she walked towards her office.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Commander Ian Shepard - Shuttlecraft Tennyman, Earth Orbit

From the windows of the cramped Type 9 shuttlecraft, Shepard was finally able to catch a glimpse of Station McKinley. Freighters were buzzing in and out of the massive starbase, some of then headed only as far as Mars to supply the repairs to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, others were bound farther out. Shepard noticed more than a few heading through the new null-space catapult, or 'warp gate' as some cadets were calling it. Almost undoubtedly these were headed towards the Vernemeton gate, delivering final loads of supplies for construction and stocking.

"Starbase 001," the pilot said over the comm, startling Ian. "This is the shuttlecraft Tennyman, requesting permission to dock. We are carrying Commander Ian Shepard, bound for U.S.S. Concordia, NCC-79521."

"That was a bit formal, Lieutenant," Shepard said jovially. The pilot gave a half-hearted smile, not even taking her eyes from the console as the operator responded. "Confirmed, Tennyman. You are cleared to approach. Concordia has been alerted and is awaiting your arrival. McKinley Tower out."

The outer space doors were, conveniently, already open, and the small shuttlecraft took a wide turn into the massive entrance, steering clear of the many large freighters entering and exiting as well. The inside of the starbase was beyond words. It seemed to be a fathomable size until one realized that even at considerable thruster speed, the shuttle barely seemed to be moving. It took them almost fifteen minutes, given the traffic, to make their way around the large, dome-like interior of the starbase. Eventually, though, the body of an Intrepid-class starship began to reveal itself, and before long, Shepard could see the registry emblazoned across the hull, directly forward of the mess hall. Despite the fact that the Intrepid-class was one of Starfleet's smaller space frames, the words 'U.S.S. Concordia' were nearly as long as a football field.

The shuttle entered a landing pattern and lined up behind the ship, making a soft landing on the deck of the landing bay. The rear hatch slid open, and Shepard and his pilot walked out, and was immediately greeted by a few officers in dress uniform, one of whom blew a boatswain's whistle. "Captain on the deck!" the crewman announced, and it reminded Shepard that Starfleet protocol dictated that any vessel commander was to be addressed as "captain", regardless of actual rank. He found it to be an uptight protocol, and had vowed not to enforce it.

"At ease, Ensign," Shepard said. The three officers saluted, and began to escort the commander to the bridge. "I know you're just following protocol, everyone," the commander said, "but I do know how to find my way to the bridge. Relax before you sprain something, that's an order." One of the three smiled weakly, and they dispersed. It had been a while since Ian had been onboard an Intrepid-class ship, but it was a very orderly design, and it didn't take long before he found a turbolift. Stepping inside, the computer chimed, indicating it's readiness, and Shepard replied: "Deck one, main bridge."

After being expediently deposited at his destination, Shepard stepped out of the main turbolift, passing by the tactical station as the junior officer there recognized him. "Captain on the bridge!" the young crewman called out, and Shepard realized he would have to do this several times before the crew became acclimated to his presence. "At ease, everyone," he said, giving his crew a good look over. Several of the key officers were missing, notably his first officer, who was to be picked up when the Concordia laid over at Starbase Avalon on the way out to SB384.

Dr. Brackman - S.S. Black Sun, Near Jupiter Station, Sol System

Dr. Brackman had fallen into a deep sleep and did not notice when QAI made the shift from impulse to slipstream just as the shuttle passed Jupiter Station. The shuttle accelerated to speeds unseen in the Federation toward QAI's designated coordinates. In several hours time, the shuttle would have crossed the threshold between the Alpha and Delta Quadrants and a few more hours would lead the shuttle deep into the Delta Quadrant. Even at Brackman's advanced age, he still has much work to do and needed QAI's processing power to help him, which is why he travels so far from the Alpha Quadrant. Even his shuttle relied on QAI's aid - the shuttle would be unable to travel in a quantum slipstream if it wasn't for QAI's rapid adjustments and calculations to maintain the slipstream.

The shuttle continued undisturbed on its course to the Delta Quadrant, with Brackman still slumbering. A console near Brackman indicated that the ETA had changed to 8.25 hours.

Aluura had been waiting inside the transport ship for hours. Some kind of medical situation was keeping her from finding a place to set up her Dabo table. She was not in a hurry to make money, she had plenty of that. It was the thrill of the game that kept her at the table. Of course, it was her table now. Only a cut to whatever house she set up in, and the rest of the profit was hers. The table was also a great place to gather information on many other profitable investments. It was also a great place gather gossip. People often got loose lipped at a Dabo table.

"Dabo, in a new place" she thought to herself, as the all clear came through, and she set eyes on Starbase 384 for the first time.

It's been a few weeks now since the quarantine cause by chemical X. The station has settled down, however a few of the senior officers had requested a transfer back to Earth and the Alpha Quadrant and Captain Faraness was busy working on selecting her new senior staff. Things were slowly getting back to normal. Or so it seemed...

Faraness had been working through applications all day for the new positions available on her senior staff on the station. Over half her senior staff transfered back to the Alpha quadrant for various reasons most being the excuse of being 'home sick', however that didnt phase Faraness one bit. She looked through the applications for a new Chief of Security, Chief of Operations (Chief Engineer) and a Chief Medical Officer. She had already chosen who was to take the place of her Executive Officer as she didnt not yet have one, and her Chief Science Officer.

Faraness decided to take a break and take a strole down to the promenade.

The excitment of setting up her table faded shortly after her first look around the station a few weeks ago. Aluura decided it was a better idea to get to know her surroudings and the people around her before she rushed right into opening up her table for play. She had to make sure this was the right place for Dabo.

Aluura took walks on the promenade every afternoon, to take in the sights. Mostly she saw off duty Starfleet officers, and civilan support staff. They shopped, ate, and socialized like most places.

Every once in a while she saw a robotic dog of some kind. Today it was plaing with a ball. "Just like a real dog", she thought.

Brackman's shuttlecraft was almost fully repaired, with the required materials having been shipped to the station only days after the incident that had caused such significant damage. Since then, Brackman had been lying low, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention, and had stayed in his shuttle for most of the time, continuing with repairs. Strong security measures were still in place; guards at the shuttlebay doors and forcefields surrounding the shuttlebay were just the lesser measures.

Unfortunately, Brackman would soon have to discuss with Rangwere his future on the station. The location of the Catalyst Project was too important to endanger and Brackman needed to secure his place on the station.

However, Brackman had several wild cards to play - his assignment to the station as a civilian scientist being the one he was most intent on using. Starfleet did not have a complete monopoly over the Federation, with a multitude of smaller civilian organization contributing to research for the Federation. Brackman planned to cite his membership in several of such institutions - which were authentic and a few highly praised - in order to cement a position on the station. After repairs had begun on his shuttle, Brackman had secured the paperwork that allowed him to stay on the station, which usually took months to process and verify, due to the frontier nature of the station, but he had in a matter of days.

It would be difficult to argue against Brackman's intentions to remain, with such a variety of other civilians on the station as well, including the Ferengi. Brackman was amused at the thought of being denied a place while the Ferengi were setting up shop.

Then dropping to the ground on his front legs he began to wag his tail and breath heavily and barked playfully at Aluura as he charged the ball but stopped close to it and barked once more before running off to the close distance and turned around sharply dropping his front again with his butt in the air wagging his tail, indicating she should throw the ball...

Brackman finished adapting the last of the shipped equipment for compatibility with his shuttle. He and Charles only had to install the remaining parts and repairs would be complete. Having made the decision to talk with Rangwere before then, Brackman asked QAI for Rangwere's currently location. He headed to the promenade after looking at the map QAI brought up.

Arriving shortly, he noticed Argus (whose name he had eventually picked up from the security guards) playing with a metal ball roughly the size of a fist. A woman nearby seemed to be talking with Argus. Brackman thought about approaching when he saw Rangwere with his periphral vision. Turning, he headed toward her.

Stretching as he stepped out of his quarters, Saul heard a satisfying set of small cracks in his spine which always accompanied a relaxing feeling. Taking a brief look to either side, he set off down the corridor on his usual pre-duty walk around the station. Officially his shoreleave finished today, but he'd been doing his walks even during his shoreleave - on-duty wasn't work times for Saul, it seemed to be his permanent state of mind, especially since the Dominion War.

While inspecting the station wasn't on the official duty list of the Strategic Operations Chief, he enjoyed seeing what the residents of the station were up to, and it pleased him at how quickly the frontier station was growing. There were by now familiar faces too, of the senior staff and a few of the civilians, such as bar owners, Argus, and Doctor Brackman among others, though the Doctor had lately been spending more time in his shuttle than around the station - Saul had checked up on him through the computer systems a few times since the incident with that odd chemical.

She walkked towards him as if to lessen his journey.

"Good morning Dr Brackman," she said with a smile, "Good to see you out of your shuttle for once. How are the repairs going along?" Faraness had been watching Brackmans progress closely but still thought it would be good for small chat. She wished to get along with everyone on the station.

Fleet Admiral Karelia - Central Park, New York City, Earth

** Julia chuckled at the Lieutenant.** "At ease and you may be on your way."

"Thank you, Ma'am." Karl said as he hurried off, mumbling to himself on how much of a stupid stupid mistake that was.

"Sure hope they wont be going on the Concordia or I may be in sever trouble. After all im in charge of their protection while onboard." Urban quietly said to himself in a half mumble as he hurried to the Concordia.

Concordia

<Urban transported onboard the Concordia and went to make sure his wife and daughter were settling into the new ship. He walked along the corridors nodding his approval as he quickly went to his quarters>

<Their he found his wife and daughter sprucing up the rather bland quarters quite nicely, he went in and gave his wife a kiss. Then patted his daughters back as she went back to work>

"First day and I already ran into two admiral's ill be protecting while they are onboard. Im surprised I wasnt thrown in the brig." Urban said falling onto the couch.
