OFF3: Russo, just in case you missed his post, Mr. Cano is trapped on Deck 5 and attempting to dig himself out of a pile of debris -- we don't really know that since we don't have communications restored down to that level, but if you happened to stumble across him during your search...

"Commander Skon, I have taken Command of the USS Skytoucher because Captain Burma decided to take a shuttlecraft and explore the strange readings in the Dark Passage, several hours ago. I had no luck in establishing contact with his shuttle but I am sure that he is still out there. The only problem now is that the bridgecrew is low-staffed, we could use the help from one or two officers from your team. I understand that they will have to travel all the way back from your position towards the infiltrationpoint, but if this is possible it would improve our chances on survival. You should also know that the Loxian Fleet is far superiour then us, even with the station's firepower we will not be strong enough to come out of this alive. This should also be explained to Gul Marcet, we will not be able to avoid a fight but we need a plan. Mr Vakin will sent you an updated report on the Loxian Armada in several minutes, I will try to stall their movement and actions until I receive other orders from you or the Captain."

Zentox, do you have any clue of a possible gateway or maybe a door to another time and space in the asteroid field?  On our last voyage through this area we encountered a strange phenomenon. At first I thought it was just a figmant of my imagination but it turns out it had an effect on our Doctor.

In the tired state in which Cano is in he thinks that he hears some movement of a search party near by, though he is unable to tell which direction the noise is sounding from. However, he starts to make a little noise himself to see if they would hear him and then be on there why to check out where the banging was coming from.

Mr. Zentox, would you like to send someone down to sickbay to give the death rights?

Marcet leaves sickbay and heads to a turbolift. He ordered it to move to the bridge and after arrival he stepped out. On the viewscreen he could see Vontak Nor, still in top shape.

"Captain Burma, you will not receive any answer. The station comms-array must be down and our agent aboard will not respond to unidentified spacecrafts. I would suggest to send in an away-team, so that we can revive the Stations main systems and allow engineering teams to transport down to repair and activate other systems. We left the station intact but there are, ofcourse, defensive systems active which have been given the task to terminate alien-infiltrants. I know the codes to switch off these systems and give a green light to your engineering officers. "

"Tom, whats your situation?"

"Right now we are trying to get Communications. But i can work with that. If you have a full team then i think main power is something for you. "

OFF: Qrell, there's no way you could possibly know how the Doctor is behaving from here. We need to keep the missions plausible.

OFF: to refresh your memory, Kowan was the captain of the Loxian government ship who had first tried to negotiate with Burma, and then finally was captured and carried to Avalon Station. He is, in fact, currently held prisoner on Avalon Station still, but the Loxian Government doesn't know this, and assumes that the Skytoucher still carries him aboard, which is why they come all the way here to retaliate and free Kowan, though he isn't here. To read the revealing facts that went on while you all thought the Loxian Government was asleep, read this please:

We evaluate the crew members and get them prepared for transport to sickbay.   I begin walking around the deck and pick up faint life signs, coming from the 5th Deck.   I say to myself " Wow, since I have traveled these decks, it looks like they are cut off from the rest of the ship.  Internal Structural Damage is severe."

I send a rescure party member up a jeffries tube that leads to the 5th Deck to see if there is a way of getting up there.  

I monitor the casualties, til the stretcher bearers get here.

Skon: "Get moving, maybe you can."

Will: "Of course Sir."

Will quickly scurried off.

At that moment a message from Vontak Nor was received.

Good to hear from you Commander, the Skytoucher is still in one piece I see. Vontak Nor is holding it's plates together, but if I can't get the back-up generators online we will not be much help any longer. I would advise......*connection lost*

"On screen!" Skon yells above the crying sounds from all different kinds of sensors. A large fleet of Loxian battleships was to be seen, and every officer on the bridge stood still.

"Is this the moment were we overcharge our phasers and torpedo's Sir? And give them a lesson, "do not mess with Starfleet"?" Rasmain whispered to Commander Skon, who was standing behind him.

OFF: Nofftz, I can't promote you by rank at this point, but you're now the Second Officer. When Rasmain and I are away, you're in charge of the ship.

Prepare the ship for disembarkment!  All stations ready your sections and report in when system is ready.

"Goodday Commander Skon, *Keilah was surprised by the wreckage that was laying all over the floor.* this is not the Skytoucher I remember, did you have a little joy-ride while you should have been working?"

Keilah grabbs his tricorder and scans the bridge for any possible dangers to their health.

"I don't see why not Captain."

Will was happy to see Zentox again.

Contact the Skytoucher and ask them to send shuttlecraft for those of us who aren't injured. That way, our transporter crews can concentrate on the seriously wounded.

OFF: this is all taking place in the shuttlebay, which is sealed off and the transporters are down. So nobody but Vakin and Zayan know what is really going on here now.

My future wife, Q? I highly doubt that is possible. The Vulcan female who I was pledged to at an early age was killed during the encounter with the Borg at Wolf359. I doubt I shall be bonded again. As for my falling in love, I would find that proposition highly doubtfull. We Vulcans have learned how to deal with Pon Far, despite the circumstances.

Regardless, you have no right to interfere with this ship or this crew. I demand that you return us to our natural state at once.

Skon reporting, sir. We have evacuated all of the Loxians from their colony. The crew is preparing accomodations for the refuges. It will be a tight fit, but I think we will be able to make everyone comfortable for the journey. Meanwhile, the asteroid is dangerously unstable, and could explode at any time.

Also, I would like to commend the actions of the away-team members. Thanks to Mr. Robinson's quick thinking, we were able to evacuate the asteroid before it became too unstable. And thanks to the Doctor's work, many Loxian lives have been saved. They are both excellent officers.

OFF: Is Rugal really still on the Hideki Mora? If so, we should either beam him off or tow the ship before we leave. Otherwise, he's going to blow up with the asteroid...

Doctor, I am glad that you made it out alive. I would like your thoughts into these strange creatures, since you have had the most experience with them. How much of a threat do they pose to the Skytoucher?

*Snapping her finger this time, the entire vessel is sent spinning, travelling millions of lightyears per second, all in the direction of the station. The crew feels the imbalance of the floor, stumbling over eachother and bracing themselves on consoles. Tyn stands unwavered, her hands behind her back, standing tall, staring off as in lost in thought (possibly needing to concentrate to not lose control of the ship). The ship slowly comes to a stop. The crew sighs with relief as they carefully stand back up and untangle themselves with the others. One lieutenant points to the viewing screen near the front of the bridge.*

Lieutenant :"Look! It's Avalon!"

*Smiles down to Skon, now rising from his spill, and salutes him with two fingers before disappearing, possibly never to be seen again.*

This is Commander Skon of the USS Skytoucher. My apologies for not responding sooner, but I was unavoidably detained.

Be that as it may, I would like to point out that if you scan this vessel, you will discover that Kowan is not aboard. Therefore, I could not hand him over to you, even if I were so inclined. As for the Loxian refuges, we rescued them when their home was destroyed and are delivering them to a safe haven. Under the Articles of Interstellar Law, they are under our protection and we will not surrender them.

It is illogical to threaten violence in order to resolve a conflict. Regardless, you should know that if you attack the Skytoucher, it will mark the third time in recent memory that your government has attacked a Starfleet vessel. The first being the kidnapping of Captain Sanchez of the USS Evolution and the second being Kowan's attack on this ship itself. The first two instances might be overlooked as misunderstandings, but I can assure you that if you fire upon us in neutral space, you are risking all-out war with the Federation.

You may possess the firepower to destroy this ship, but I sincerely doubt that you will be so fortunate when the rest of our fleet arrives. On the other hand, we originally came to this area to negotiate a treaty with you and your government. We are still willing to do so. I suggest that you stand down and begin a dialogue before it's too late.

Gentlemen, even if the Evolution restores her comms, the chances of sending a message to Starphoenix are very slim. The subspace interference in the Dark Passage makes long-range communications impossible. The only way we were able to communicate with Avalon was by launching a long-range probe with a message attached...

Sir, we only have half impulse, it will take some time to get between us and the other ship.  But i will try to get us there as soon as possible.

Commander Skon, you and Marotek will work on a way to modify the deflector dish and shield grid, I believe there are some extra bodies some where.

Mr. Zentox I would like you to work with Rugal to possibly work on a route that could most safely get us to your destination.

The turbolift doors open and Skon and Rhade step onto the bridge. Skon looks toward the security station and sees a Loxian furiously trying to operate the sensors.

It has been a pleasure serving with you all. This is a good ship, and you are a good crew. You deserved a better fate than the one I brought you to.

Mr. Black, this device is the one we captured from the Loxian spy. It appears to be a device he used to gain access from our computers and transmit data to his superiors. However, this radiation development is most disturbing. I was hoping that you might be able to shed some light on what -- exactly -- it is.

OFF: It's Loxian technology, but nothing's been established about its true function. Have fun with it...

ON: Skon receives a message from Avalon.

Well, gentlemen, I will leave you to your work. It appears that I am late for my trial. Mr. Nofftz, the bridge is yours until Mr. Rasmain reports.

Good work, Mr. Rasmain. You've held things together here admirably. Please take the helm. Since Mr. Robinson is unable to report for duty, you are our most experienced pilot and we will need you. Assuming the Loxians don't wish to negotiate, which I doubt they will, plot a course of evasive maneuvers that takes us closer to the station. Gul Marcet may be able to assist us.

Mr. Rhade, you have the tactical station. Be ready to fire all weapons on my command.

Mr. Marotek, once the fighting starts, launch the warp-capable probe I requested toward Station Avalon. They need to be updated on the situation.

Mr. Vakin, we need as much information about the fleet as you can give us.

Mr. Balkazar, guard this prisoner. He has been sedated for now, but he could wake up at any time. He is a most dangerous criminal who is responsible for much of this destruction. As soon as we are able, we shall transfer him to the brig, but for now, it is best that he remain here under watchful eyes.

Also, a note to all Skytoucher crew, Admiral Montrell is requesting that everyone report in to the "Roll Call" forum so we can see who's still here. If you haven't done so already, report there as soon as possible.

Skon turns to Gul Marcet and General Zentox.

The Skytoucher's shuttles are almost here. We can begin loading the healthy refuges as soon as they arrive. General, please make sure your people are ready to leave. We need to get off this asteroid as soon as possible.

Mr. Robinson, how long will it take you to beam the remaining wounded back to the Skytoucher? We need to move quickly.

Suddenly, the ground shakes slightly. It stops, then trembles again. Skon looks down to confirm his tricorder readings and motions to Zentox, Marcet and Robinson. Skon lowers his voice.

I didn't want to say anything earlier, because I did not want to alarm the civilians, but the alien's attack seems to have structurally weakened this asteroid. I detected a small fault when we arrived, and it is growing. I don't believe we are in immediate danger, but we need to evacuate as soon as possible.

Thank you, Commander Rasmain, for your assistance. I am transmitting the necessary deflector dish/shield modifications to your repair crews now.

Captain, I believe Mr. Marotek was correct. With a few, simple, modifications, we should be able to navigate the asteroid field "blind" with minimal damage to the ship, if that should prove necessary. Thanks to Commander Rasmain's repair crews, I believe we can make the necessary modifications to the main deflector dish and shield array within 24 hours.

OFF: I'm finally back from my holiday and trying to catch up with the story...

captain, I have boosted the sensor range. all affected systems should now be able to detect cloaked ships. although I did have to reroute energy from life support.

After taking a quick drink of water, he headed for the bridge.

*Zentox nods at Skon, and presses some buttons on the panel in front of him.*
"Captain, we are now within visual range, we are nearing the colony and outer mining facility. I will put it on screen for you."
*On the main screen of the bridge, appeared a view of colonies built on large asteroids, and small orbiting stations and Loxian ships. It was huge, more than could possibly fit the viewscreen, and in all kind of shapes and forms. It was like a whole city drifting in space on a field of asteroids. But the moment of awe, soon turns into horror... when Zentox magnifies the view, and the screen displays how all those asteroid colonies were in ruin, utterly destroyed... Zentox moves the screen to other areas, and one is even worse than the other. Debris is drifting free in space everywhere, and not only debris... the orbiting space stations have huge holes of destruction, and some have broken apart in several parts even. And as if that is not enough, there are also a number of Loxian ships adrift, dead in the water, or as good as destroyed...*
"In the name of the Goddess Tazay... this... this cannot be! What happened here that can cause such amount of destruction?"
*He quickly taps some buttons on his panel, and then his face turns utterly white, as if he is about to faint. Then he looks up at captain Burma.*
"Captain, according to your ship's sensors, I read 178 Loxian life signs in this entire area."
*He wants to continue to speak, but has to take a deep breath first.*

OFF: the Hideki Mora, Marcet's ship, is drifting around there too, attacked by the same evil (as the Hideki Mora had departed Avalon earlier than the Skytoucher). So now would be a good time for Marcet to contact the Skytoucher and then beam over to Zayan's location as well.

The Skytoucher made its way passing two Loxian Ships and after that it made a sudden turn.

"Sir, I do not know how long I can evade these Loxian Cruisers as there are so many of them and almost all are firing at us"

The Skytoucher passed one more Loxian Cruiser before the ship began to shake again. The Skytoucher was under fire again, but rasmain kept working and tried to evade as many ships and enemy-fire as possible.

ON: Aye Aye Sir. Firing torpedos. (tha bridge takes a direct hit and sparks fly. Phasers have been disabled all we have is torpedos. We just lost port sheilds.

We are on board and en route to the bridge. In the meantime, if the Dark Passage is interfering with our communications, Mr. Marotek should prepare a warp-capable probe with a message updating our status and launch it for Station Avalon. Even if they cannot assist us, they need to be warned about the Loxian fleet. Once the Loxians realize that Kowan isn't aboard, they may try assaulting the station next.

Marcet sees the doctor standing with one of the other patients.

The Doctor's body starts to dematerialize, but the force of the tendril holds him to the Skytoucher.  He seems to phase in and out of reality, pulled like taffy and stretched between here and not here.  Suddenly, the Doctor and the tendril are gone, but not where they expected to be...

"Oof!  What happened?  Cut off in mid-sentence.  I could have been saying something important- I WAS SAYING SOMETHING IMPORTANT!  Where am I?"  The Doctor looks around and sees that he is in Engineering next to the warp core.  Of the offending purple tendril he sees no sign, but then, with everyone gone, that isn't his first concern.  "Where is everyone?  Hello?!"

(In space, a few short meters from the hull of the Romulan flagship, the aforementioned alien tendril seems to swirl in purple agitation.  The combined willpower of its victim and the intervention of the transporter beam powered by a singularity (so like its natural enemies' power source) has weakened the intruder.  Glowing an angry bright orange, the nebulous force glides quickly toward the Skytoucher... )

(The monitor buzzes and the crewman's life signs fall.)

"Or not...  Nurse!"  The Doctor hits the offending panel to make sure it's not faulty, a reflex action, as he grabs a cortical stimulator and a tricorder from a nearby tray.

"Nurse, 20hz charge now."  The nurse obeys and the crewman's face contorts in pain.  "Good.  Therozine and an amode blocker."  She hands the hypospray to the Doctor and he dials the appropriate medicines and administers them.  The lifesigns stabilze.  The nurse wipes the crewman's face of blood and places a gauze on it before turning to the next patient.  The Doctor also turns to help.

"Let's see if I can still contact someone. The communications array seems to be intact. But gheez, what did they do to my SHIP, she's totally wrecked!But what do I see here, it seems the Skytoucher has arrived at the Colony. "

Sorry, sir,  it's been kind of stuffy down here, a lot of the decks are in shambles, but have been able to excavate some of the trapped crew members and they have been transported to Sickbay.  I believe I have found all of them. I agree, Mr. Rasmain. Evasive maneuvers. Get us out of the thick of the fight and be prepared to turn and attack.

Mr. Nofftz, take the tactical station. Fire a spread of torpedoes at those Loxian fighters and then calculate an attack pattern we can use as soon as we get some room to maneuver.

Mr. Lupin, transfer all available power to the shields. Get a damage control team up here to help put out these fires and give me an updated damage report.

OFF: The Hideki Mora can't be put in the shuttlebay. It's as big as the Skytoucher ...can't we tow it? Or something else, maybe letting them follow us at their last powersupply?

"Captain, he's getting away! We don't have time to watch our arses and don't get hurt...we need to run and capture him!"

Keilah stops for a moment and begins to breathe easier. He tried to run past Captain Sanchez, but the Captain pulled him back.

"I'm sorry Captain, but I don't think that there will be any forcefields, tractorbeams or weapons to stop him when he gets on a shuttle. We are the only force that can stop him from leaving this ship...."

Interesting suggestion, Mr. Rasmain. We could send an away tem back to the ship, but it would have to be a small one. Since the Loxian fleet seems to be attempting to capture Loxian exiles, they might not notice a small number of Starfleet personnel beaming back to a "dead" ship. In order for it to work, we'd have to keep the away team numbers limited, but, as Mr. Nofftz has pointed out, we would need adequate protection. At the very least, all of the away personnel should be armed with phasers...

Skon glances over the PADD Rasmain had given him again. He ponders the names for a moment.

Officers for the away team should be as follows: Myself, Mr. Rasmain, Mr. Nofftz, Mr. Lupin, Dr. Dorian.

Mr. Vakin, your gesture is noble, but since the Loxian fleet seems determined to kidnap all exiles, your presence could only jeopardize the mission. If they pick up a Loxian signature on the Skytoucher, it would only alert them to our presence.

General Qrell, I appreciate your timely rescue. You saved many Loxian exiles from capture. But I am afraid that I will have to abandon your ship. I will not give up the Skytoucher unless all is lost. In the meantime, the Loxian fleet is all yours. I believe that we shall be able to repair basic damage to the Skytoucher fairly quickly and rejoin you in the fight. The element of surprise may once again be on our side.

Unless anyone has a serious objection, we shall beam out within the hour.

Mr. Vakin, You put forth a noble idea, but you and your people are under our protection, and I will not abandon that responsibility. I will not turn the exiles over to the Loxian fleet, even if we have to destroy this ship. I do not believe it will come to that. I believe we have other options.

Good work, Mr. Nofftz. I now must ask you to abandon your station. Prepare a warp-capable probe. Implant a message informing Station Avalon of our situation and launch the probe as soon as it's ready. [OFF: This might take some time, but be sure to post the "message" here. and make sure it's received by the Avalon.]

The Doctor heads for his quarters as fast as he can, but the tendril has followed him.  It seems to be taking different forms as it comes down the corridor: first a bear-like being with lobster claws for feet, then a huge demented rabbit with giant fangs, than a goat with the head of a barracuda.  Some forms are beyond imagination and each seems more terifying than the last.  The creature seems not to care how fast it goes because it knows the Doctor is trapped...

The Doctor tries his commbadge, but it is still fizzing.  Making his way quickly to the nearest turbolift, he heads for Sickbay.

The Doctor enters Sickbay just as the alien tendril phases through the bulkhead from space.  It drifts toward the Doctor who quickly runs into his office and snatches up his cat, Wycliff.  "Where have you been, puss," he asks.  Thankfully, the office has two doors, and the Doctor collects his satchel of personal effects and hastily runs out of the empty Sickbay.  Whatever's happening can't be stopped in Sickbay.  The Bridge, however, might be useful.  First things first, however...

The Doctor stops at a wall panel computer display.  "Computer, do you recognise me, the Doctor?"
*Yes, Doctor Smith, how may I assist you?*

"Is there anyone else on the Skytoucher aside from me?"

*Scanning... negative, Doctor Smith, there is no one else aboard the Skytoucher at this time.*

"Where is the Skytoucher?  Where is the crew of the Skytoucher?"

*The Skytoucher is currently adrift near Vontak Nor Station in disputed space.  The crew is not aboard the Skytoucher.*

'Very helpful,' the Doctor mutters and then says, "Computer, lock all command functions to my psionic pattern as stored in my personal medical file, authorization Doctor (a string of numbers and letters)."

*Done.*

"Computer, do not allow anyone computer access unless I approve in person, understood?"

*I will comply.*

"Good.  Now I'm being followed by some sort of energetic purple tendril, do your sensors detect it?"

*Scanning... Negative, Doctor Smith, there is no reading of anoyone else aboard the Skytoucher.*

"Maybe it's in my mind?  Maybe it is a mind!  Oh yes, I remember a little... a group mind calling to me... yuck!  I hate mind control!  Computer, send out a distress signal on all communications frequencies.  Give our position and current crew compliment and say that immediate assistance is needed."

*Doctor Smith, current space conditions are not suitable for communications.  The message will not be able to transmit more than approximately 100 kilometers.  Shall I proceed?*

Hmmm...That seems odd. What type of radiation? Perhaps Mr. Black could help shed some light on the matter. Whatever you do, be careful with that device. If it's emmiting radiation, it could be much more than a communicator...Keep me updated.

We have no idea how many crewmembers are dead, Mr. Black, but I fear there are many. Many more may still be trapped down below. Do what you can to repair things from up here. Whether or not our enemies return, we need to reestablish communications and locate those who may be trapped.

It seems that repairs are proceeding quickly, sir. Perhaps we should turns our minds elsewhere for a moment. I believe General Zayan has requested that we turn the spy Vakin over to her. What are your thoughts on this. The man has caused much harm to the Loxian people, but he must also answer for his many crimes against the Federation.

Thanks to the timely assistance of General Qrell, the entire Skytoucher crew (minus the Doctor) was beamed to the Romulan Warbird T'Pol.

Most of the Loxian exiles were also beamed over, except for the first few that the Loxians captured.

A massive Loxian fleet is still out there on the warpath and the Skytoucher is hanging dead in space with an unstable warp core.

The dreaded "purple tendrills" are begining to attack Who knows where they might pop up next?

Meanwhile, the Vontak Nor has begun to drift, and Romulan engineers are helping to attempt to repair the station.

Also -- but the crew doesn't know this --the probe Mr. Nofftz launched has delivered a message to Station Avalon (I just posted something there in Ops. Begging your pardon, Mr. Nofftz, but I embellished your message a little bit

Ladies, gentlemen. We are gathered today to honor the life of Captain Roland Burma. I know that many of your are saddened by his passing, but this should not be a time of sadness, but a time of celebration of a life well lived.

Captain Burma was many things...a leader, an explorer and a friend to the Loxian people. But above all else, he was a good man. He refused to allow the strong to prey on the weak, and his compassion for the Loxian exiles -- you -- directly led to the founding of this new colony on Vontak Nor. You have reason to honor his memory, and I join you in this.

Personally, it was my honor to serve with Captain Burma. He was an excellent commander, and a trusted friend. I learned much from my time with him, and I hope that I can continue to follow his example in times to come.

Farewell, Captain, and good luck on this, your final journey.

Skon transmits the report to Zentox on the coded frequency they used during the battle.

At least in the case of this ship, I would like to remind you that we were invited to enter your space to negotiate a treaty. And then we were promptly attacked by Kowan. It's true that we rescued a group of exiled Loxians after their home had been destroyed -- by an unknown force --but since your government had already banished them, they can hardly be considered citizens under your authority, can they? They are a free people under their own laws and we are transporting them to safety.

Again, we do not wish to fight you. It is true that there have been many misunderstandings between our peoples. But we could work these problems out in a way that would be beneficial to both our societies and avoid bloodshed. A battle here will only start a major interstellar war, which, I think, both sides would wish to avoid.

Instead, I propose that representatives of all sides of the conflict meet at a neutral site, where we can negotiate and attempt to work out our differences peacefully.

This could be beneficial for all sides, especially considering that the unknown force that attacked the exile base is still out there and they could strike again...perhaps next time at the Loxian homeworld.

I duck, and yell everyone to "DUCK".

"Those Loxians are going to pursuit us until they get what they want, commander. If we surrender the Loxian exiles to them, at least your ship may survive. Better only half the people dead, than all of them dead, no? I am willing to surrender myself to them in order to save your ships and station."

Captain, we have almost finished evacuating the survivors. The shuttles are preparing to take off. This asteroid is unstable, but my readings indicate that it should hold together long enough for us to get everyone off.

Grettings, General, and thank you for your continued assistance. We need help with the Loxian flagship and its escorts. Our shields are down to almost minimal, and we need some "breathing room" so we can affect emergency repairs. At the same time, we don't want to leave Vontak Nor vulnerable. If you could attract the attention of the Loxians for a time, we could "patch things together" and  launch a counter attack.

Also, I should warn you, the Doctor seems to believe that this battle is attracting the attention of something else in the area. There may be another alien species coming. Be alert.

Admiral Montrell has informed me that the Loxian spy, Vakin, is to be put on trial. Unfortunately, Vakin has also lodged charges against me for violating the Prime Directive. These matters will be sorted out in the JAG department on station Avalon. Any crewmembers who wish to testify during the trial are invited to do so. In the meantime, all crewmembers are invited to attend the reception in Celtic Corner this evening.

Rasmain then looked at Captain Sanchez who had slowly lowered his phaser.

"Well Captain, it may be wise to go back to the bridge and take Vakin with us. There we can devise a plan to survive this nasty situation"

Mr. Cano, it is good to see that you survived. You have been to sickbay, what is your opinion of the crew's morale?

Helm: Sir, we are orbiting Vontak Nor. We can initiate docking procedures at any time.

But you're right, this is a good time for me to update everyone on what's going on. We've just docked with Vontak Nor, and after we've settled the Loxian refuges and conducted Captain Burma's funeral, we're going back to Avalon.

Once we reach Avalon, Vakin is going on trial. Characters who have had dealings with him (Myself, Rasmain, the Doctor, Balkazar, Lupin and anyone I've left out) will have to testify. Other characters will be involved with refitting the ship under Mr. Black's supervision. And, of course, there will be shore leave for anyone who wants it.

OFF: Burma, do you mean me when you ask the Ambassador to stay on the bridge? :P

The doors to the Doctor's quarters are suffiuced with a brilliant pink light as the alien tendril finally has him cornered.  It pauses this side of the door and seems to watch the Doctor and his cat while it cycles through a few more horrifying shapes.  Soon another tendril has joined it, appearing to drift down from the ceiling, and the two merge and assume the shape of a small purple crab-like creature with several antennae waving in the air.

I'm definitely not trying to scold, either, but we have a lot of refuges on the surface who don't need medical assistance, but they need to be evacuated to the ship as soon as possible (in case the aliens come back). Mr. Robinson had a great idea to use the shuttles to transport the healthy people so we don't overtax the transporters and the whole operation runs more quickly. That's not a medical issue, but a tactical one, which makes it my problem -- at least from the standpoint of what we're doing on the surface.

Another console fizzles out. Skon touches his com badge in an attempt to contact Engineering. It doesn't work. Behind him, another console goes dark. Internal communications have been lost.  

At least give me an estimate on how long we shall be able to maintain life support.

The screen flickers again as the Loxian fleet turns to meet the Evolution

The Doctor works feverishly to mend broken bones, gaping wounds and severe injuries. Two nurses assist him, but the rest are scattered thru-out the ship.  The battle momentarily makes everyone's stomach queasy as gravity fluctuates.  "Dieting is one thing," the Doctor thinks to himself, "but losing weight this way is not good."

Suddenly a mysterious, cloud-like purple tendril of something is visible to several of the patients.  It seems to seep into the room through the walls and heads straight for the Doctor.  (Unknown to him, a similar event is happening on the Bridge, where a tendril reaches for Skon.)

Whereas the Bridge crew are alert and act, but Sickbay is too crowded and busy- no one is able to warn the Doctor before the cloud engulfs him.  The Doctor is frozen in place, mid-operation, and the cloud glows a brilliant pink.  Under other circumstances it would be beautiful, but now...

i live in teh USA in ORegon....So im Pacific time

im gone all day tuesday.......Part of wednesday......Then gone all day friday and saturday.......And part of sunday if i am not home on saturday which i usually am .....

Sir, the flagship's aft shielding has been disabled. Also I managed to render 76% of its secondary shielding inoperable. Perhaps we can force the ship to switch to secondary shielding using tachyon pulses fired from the deflector dish? It should force them to switch to secondaries, and may allow me enough time to disable the primary generators while they aren't in use.

OFF: How many other Loxian vessels are there besides the Flagship? Or has it not been stated yet?

Indeed, Mr. Nofftz. I believe your conclusion is quite logical, especially given the fact that General Qrell has informed us that the Loxians began beaming exiles off the Skytoucher as soon as the shields went down. How did they know when to begin beaming unless they had a spy on board? And that spy could now be on board this ship. I suggest we proceed with caution.

Skon resumes his normal speaking voice.

As for Captain Burma, he left the ship shortly before the battle began. He took a shuttle to scout some strange readings on our sensors...and he was able to warn us of the approach of the Loxian fleet. If it hadn't been for him, we may not have survived. We do not know what has happened to his shuttle...

Since the Captain has abandoned the ship, my place is on the bridge. I will return with members of the away team immediately. In the meantime, if you haven't done so already, contact Station Avalon on emergency frequencies and inform them of our situation.

The Doctor stands stock still, stuck in mid-movement by a mysterious cloud.  The nurses react by taking the patient quickly and carefully out from under the Doctor's hands.  One calls the Bridge to warn them and ask for advise.  Another yells out the door into the corridor for a security guard.

The Doctor starts to move his mouth, jerking the jaw up and down like a puppet on strings.  The lips start to move and he makes a sound like 'Ooh, ooh, oof' before the mouth stops again.  Finally the security guard arrives and tried to contact the Bridge for instructions.  The nurses try to take readings with the tricorders...

Gentlemen, the next few minutes will be crucial. Once we've drawn the Loxian fleet into full range of the station's weapons, Gul Marcet will fire, hoping to take them by surprise. If that happens, execute attack pattern Epsilon Nine and try to take out the Loxian flagship.

If the station does not fire, Mr. Lupin, lock onto the away team and prepare to transport them on my command. We will lower the forward shields just long enough to beam them aboard, and then, Mr. Rasmain, engage maximum warp, course at your discression, but put as much space between us and that fleet as you can.

Mr. Vakin, a question. How sturdy are the Loxian ships? Can they maneuver as close to the Dark Passage singularity as we can? If not, we may be able to use the singularity to our advantage...

Also, record the Captain's shuttle's last known position and course, just before we lost him on sensors. Once we've dealt with the Loxians -- one way or the other -- we will double-back and try to find him. Mr. Rhade, your probe idea was a good one, but I do not want to draw the Loxians' attention to the fact that the Captain is no longer aboard. They could use it to their advantage.

As for what happened, sir, we have very good reason to believe that there is a Loxian spy on board. When the Loxians fired on us, their weapons cut right through our shields and damaged all key systems. Our shields went down and they immediately began beaming Loxian refuges off the Skytoucher. It seems odd that they knew the exact time to initiate beaming.

An iron bridge to walk over on a higher level, had fallen down in front of the away team, and there could still dead bodies of Loxians be seen under the debris, even. The lights were flickering, and most of the computer systems were down. The place was also very cold and becoming colder, clearly indicating that the environment systems were failing. At last, a female Loxian approaches the away team. It was the woman who had identified herself as Zayan before, who appeared.*
"Ah, my trusted right hand. Please tell me what happened here... this is a disaster!"

"The awayteam has safely arrived on the station sir, they have just released the gas into the ventilationsystem. Shall I keep a transporterlock on them at all times?"

As the three Starfleet Officers were standing in the shuttlebay they were surrounded by darkness.

"Well Captain, there are three shuttles in this shuttlebay and he can be in one of them or he can be somewhere around us, luring us into a trap of him!"

Rasmain tried to find his tricorder but he suddenly realized he wasn't wearing any.

"Oh great, I can't even scan the vicinity! d*mn, these circumstances are becoming worser by the minute!"

Skon nods to Robinson, and they both flip out their tricorders and walk off. As soon as they are far enough away from the Loxians, Skon turns to Robinson.

Mr. Robinson. The Loxians seem to be unable to tell us much about their attackers. Yet we desperately need information if we are to evaluate this potential threat. Therefore, I want you to concentrate your search for survivors around this station's main computer core. Do you understand?

           "I think they will not return any time soon.

They seem to be moving away from the colony.

"Omak turn to Engineer, I will get on the repair to the

senors" *Padd in Hand, he retrieves a Tricorder and

proceeds to the sensor control pannel.*

Mr. Rasmain, now would be an even better time to get us further away from the main battle. We have Loxian refuges on board who know the passages through the ateroid field...perhaps it's time to play a little "hide and seek" -- I believe you humans call it -- inside the asteroid field.

Mr. Lupin, re-establish communications with sickbay. If you can't, send a runner down there to find out what the Doctor was talking about. He knows more about this region of space than the rest of us do.

Rhade took over the tactical console, quickly remembering what he had learnt at the Academy. He looked at the tactical sensor readings and reported his findings.

Sir, the Captain's shuttle is just passing out of our sensor's now limited range. If you'd like to track him or perhaps even send him a message, maybe we could use a modified sensor probe. As for the Loxian battleship design, I remember vaguely what we learnt about them at the Klingon Academy, and this one seems to be of a standard design. I believe that the ship's weak points are primarily to aft shielding, forward-ventral hull plating and secondary weapons emplacements. Based on what limited knowledge I possess of Loxian technology, I, and the computer agrees, would suggest Attack Patterns Epsilon Six or Nine.

OFF2: Black, Cano, Lupin, Rasmain, Doctor, Russo, (and Balkazar, when you can post)...when I get back to the ship, we'll need to have an officers' meeting. There's some things we need to talk over before we get back to the Station.

The sooner repairs are completed, the sooner we can get back to Avalon. And when that happens, I might finally be able to post "in character" again. lol

Dr. Dorian, I'm glad you could join us, here's my plan:

I want you, Mr. Lupin and Mr. Vakin to search for the Doctor. With all of the damage to the ship's systems, we won't be able to locate him from the bridge. He was in some sort of flux when we beamed to the Romulan ship, and he may be injured and require your assistance.

Mr. Black, take a couple of crewmen down to engineering and get the warp core stabilized.

Mr. Rasmain and I shall attempt to access the main computer and reroute power to critical systems -- weapons, shields and communications.

And everyone, stay alert. We still don't know what that purple tendril was that appeared on the bridge shortly before we beamed to the Romulan ship. It may still be here.

Just then the Cardassian station seemed to come to life.  A barrage of torpedoes slammed into several Loxian ships and caused two of the closest to Vontak Nor to veer off wounded and trailing vapors and sparks.  This was followed by several phaser shots.  The Loxian ships seemed to scatter and made to regroup...

General Zentox is entirely correct. Sometimes being alone in space is a disadvantage -- especially in our situation. Since we don't know very much about the aliens that attacked the Loxian outpost, I suggest caution. Perhaps we should run continuous full sensor sweeps during our journey. We don't want to be surprised while we are alone.

The crab-like form of the invaders creeps forward as the Doctor backs up against the far wall of his cabin.  Thinking quickly, he decides that any rescue may come too late and he must make his own luck.  What do these creatures fear about him?  Why do they want to kill him?  Why didn't they try- or did they?- before when he was in Sickbay?  Maybe he fought them off- if only he knew how or could remember!

"Are you sure we can't sit down, have a cup of tea, and talk about this reasonably?"  Predictably, the creature (s?) remain silent.  "Alright, then I guess I'll have to ask you to leave."  The Doctor stops backing up and faces the thing now almost upon him, "You heard me- leave!  Leave right now and I promise to do everything in my power to let you live.  Stay and you will suffer the consequences."

The creature stops, though whether it is amused or frightened by the Doctor's words is unclear.  Putting every ounce of conviction into his voice, the Doctor says, "I have warned you.  Now go."

The computer had already received a command to go to deck 7 and after the speech of Dr Keilah the doors slide open.

I also would add that, at this time, Vakin's presence on Vontak Nor might cause the Loxian government to attack your station. He may possess valuable information that they do not want you to have. Since the station currently has minimal defenses, it might be safer if we kept him for a time.
