Title: Mission 3: Construction of the asteroid base
Post by: Alexei Chekov on January 12, 2004, 02:46:58 AM
*laughs*

It's been a long time since you've last seen the Phoenix from the outside, haven't it Mr. Huw?

We no longer carry any insignia that differentiates us from a regular starfleet ship. And even those markings can be removed, due to our special hull painting.

You should go change, Mr. Huw. I'll go as soon as the Director returns.

"Well, I need the science and operations stations to work together on remodulating the phaser banks. they need to be able to cut holes into stones, instead of blowing them to pieces like normally. If we can dig out an asteroid with the phaser banks, we've saved alot of trouble and time. But I recommend scanning for a hollow asteroid first, so we only need to make an entrance."

Very good ensign, proceed with the present course. Science, I want you to start looking for asterois big enough to house our base. And make sure they are in an isolate part of the field.

Director, Science has found a hollow asteroid not very far from our position. It is perfectly located in the midst of a meteorite cluster.

It is perfect for a mine field and even without one most ships would be ground to tiny bits because of the meteorites.

Of course that will not be a problem for us and our phase cloak...

SHould we proceed to the asteroid they found?

Title: Mission 3: Construction of the asteroid base
Post by: Zeon Lyn Voya on March 27, 2004, 11:06:52 PM
Voya covertly slips out of the bridge to wander around the ship. She goes to a lower level and looks around. She comes across a different door, labeled mess hall. She enters, peering around, a bit surprised at it's size.

Voya leaves the room to wander a bit more. She comes across the medical facilities. Entering with a smile, she observes the sterile, large room. Walking around it she runs her fingers over various things: the cannister containing synthetic cotton, hand-held devices used for ridding minor scrapes or cuts, the sterile examination bench, etc.

She discovers an office to the right of the bench, opening it, she's appauled to find a cluttered desk, and the office containing various things that wouldn't ever belong in an office of this kind. Approaching a console to the right, she opens a few non-personal files. Voya gazes in horror as she looks at the files: totally unorganized, information saved everywhere it's not supposed to be. She sighs and sits back into the chair.

"I suppose I'll have to clean this mess up..."

The Phoenix is a jewel, Miss Voya. There is no other ship where I would rather serve...

And the crew that serves here is just as precious. We still have some senior staff posts avaliable, and I would be honored to have you with us.

Now, Admiral, what do you think of the Phoenix?

Thirty minutes, sir.

*Chekov turns to the Director*

Sir, perhaps we should activate the phase cloaking. This way we won't be hit by any rogue asteroid and we will find our way to our new home faster. *sighs deeply and puts both hands on the table, with the fingers interlocked. after a brief silence he starts speaking with a low voice in a very calm, even emotionless, and polite way*

The reason you didn't find anything about our ship is that all information about it's existance and all of it's crew is classified and it seems you don't have the propper clearance to see it. I am not allowed to inform you why it is classified, however I can assure you that we are subordinate to the United Federation of Planets.

As for the Captain breaking into the base's computer... I was not informed that this would happen. I am as surprised as you are. Our mission was simply to come here and get the supplies, which we have already done.

I would guess, though, that he decided, after seeing you base from here and from the ground, that you are poorly defended against menaces that you don't even know about.

Again, I am not at liberty to discuss the nature of this or these threats to your station, though I can assure you that you are indeed poorly defended.

The Borg attack a few months ago proves that without need of further questioning. And I can assure you that the possible threats to your base are far worse than the Borg.

*pauses*

If you don't have any further questions I would suggest that we eat now and then pay a visit to the Captain. I am sure he can tell you the exact nature of the security flaws he has detected and he surely can offer a few advices.

*pauses again and continues speaking looking at the Admiral in the eyes*

He has many friends, Admiral. I am sure he can give your station almost any resources you may need to improve your defenses if you just let your pride go and talk to him about the security flaws, as you should have from the start.

And I suggest you talk to him alone.

Mr. Huw, this is a building mission, not a flying contest. Come into formation at once and start building.

Miss Voya, I am setting your bee's computer on guided piloting. It will perform all the basic flying functions for you. Now all you have to do is control the robotic arms and tell the computer where you want to go next.

Voya snickers inside at how she caught him offguard, "I know with the type of work we're both in, it's nearly impossible to keep a relationship like that, which is why I've never been on a date in my life; Intelligence, in my field, are meant to be invisible. They're meant to flatter the people they meet, but have them forget us two seconds later. And you, you're on a ship months at a time...the way a few of your male crew members look at me, it's like ' :O ...female' hehehe." She rests her head at the base of his neck once again and tranquily sways with him. As the song reaches it's end, she begins to sing in an almost inaudible volume, "...Blue moon.... Now I'm no longer alone ....Without a dream in my heart ....Without a love of my own..."

OFF2: Ok let's get this mission over with. No additions or complications, because only few are posting anyway. Zeon Lyn Voya has informed me she has a virus on her computer and has to get it fixed first before she can come back and post again.

Although enticing, I'm sorry to say that my feet are killing me from dancing in heels; Another time, maybe? But if you wouldn't mind...perhaps one more dance? A slow one?" OFF: Well yeah, there's the phase cloak, but what fun is that? Don't you have to take the phase off to transport the things, and if it is an asteroid, it is moving in space, most likely the ship wouldn't be able to move with it. Or am I just completely off my rocker?

Voya pilots her bee with some difficulty, "Commander, how exactly do you fly thing?!?!" Her Bee manages to get out of the cargo bay, but goes off course as it makes drastic sweeps to the left and right as she attempts to stablize the little ship. After the bee twirling in every direction except towards the asteroid, she finally manages the controls and rejoins the team.

I received recent reports on some energy species called Na'jigat. Nothing is known about them yet, but appears that weapons are useless against them. Even the Borg are powerless, and that says alot. We NEED to establish an Intelligence and Section 31 presence in this space, if we are to keep the borders of the Federation safe."

Its bad because Sensors are having a hard time locking on to anything...

Never underestimate the persuasion skills of a woman...

You are just right Miss Voya, let's enjoy our dinner, as soon as it arrives...

So, Admiral, I understand you were transfered here from Deep Space 4, right? Then I trust you have had your share of action.

But let's talk about other things now... Do you like andorian battle poetry? I've put some masterpieces into the ship's computer.

Voya.....didn't know she was sitting, but accepts the 'help up' and stands closely with one hand planted on his left shoulder, and the other entwined with his right hand. She smiles, "I'm sure Svensson will not be long, I've heard he has a way of talking himself out of things; Hopefully I'll receive an easy transfer off of this planet to your ship, seeing how my mission is complete, I have no longer a need to pose as a regular starfleet officer. I believe I'll need a 'superior officer's' consent, possibly Sullivan's; I can't simply leave with you guys. *smiles* You seem quite familiar with what this holodeck has programmed, you pick a song, Mr. Chekov." At this she rests a cheek at the base of his neck and waits.

Voya and Chekov arrive from the turbo lift. Voya examines the project on a nearby console. After gazing upon it for several moments, she shakes her head and looks to Svensson, "Won't work....Or at least I would highly recommend NOT going in there right now."

Svensson: "Oh? Why do you say that, Ms. Voya?"

"The substance this asteroid is formulated of is very...well... You've sample peanut brittle, I'm sure. Think of it as that. If we were to go in there now... the super low frequency produced by the ship would cause the asteroid to just cave in; Not to mention if we were to actually hit the asteroid with part of the ship... I recommend that you first install some of the plating to give it a solid skeleton. Finishing in the ship after that would not be a problem."

That'd be Lt. Cmdr. Sara Blake, sir. She hardly leaves engineering.

I'll call her and schedule a meeting as soon as she's through with the most important repairs.

Mr. Brooks, I suggest that you use this downtime to run a complete level one diagnostic on all weapon systems. You have autorization to do any upgrades you deem necessary, as long as it doesn't expose us too much.

"Ah, that will be the tricky part, Mr. Brooks. It needs to be constructed as fast as possible. When the base is constructed, it can be completely hidden from sensors and unwanted visitors, but as long as we are in the phase of construction, that won't be possible, and we will easily draw attention. Any ship that passes through the sector will be able to detect us with long-range scanners, and we must avoid that at all costs."

*looks to the officer manning science console*

You shold figure out a way of making uniforms that change colour... I hate having to change uniforms every now and then. *smiles and turns to face the Director*

So, sir. Our Chief Engineer has prepared a list of all we will need for the base. All we have to do is go down and meet the CO of StarPhoenix.

He's an Admiral, from what I have read, so it'd be nice to hold a dinner for him and his senior crew, don't you think?

OFF: Our helm officer is Mr. Mason, sir. And I'm still on holidays.. :)

As you wish Admiral... Perhaps we can let the desert for another time.

*taps some commands on a small console to his left*

*half an hour later, all have finished dinner and all has been removed. the conference room is like before*

Very well Admiral, let's get to it. Miss Voya, I believe you should stay.

Computer, activate holographic projection Chekov Zeta-Eight.

*lights go dim. a holoigraphic simulation of a battle on Dantor begins to play over the table*

Admiral, the simulation you are watching was made on my demand using all the data we have on your base, estimating your avaliable defense capacity. And we made a good estimate.

*the movie continues for more ten minutes and then stops. lights go back to normal*

I asked for another dozen scenarios to be run. In all of them you are defeated within no more than thirty minutes after the first wave of attacks.

My crew simulated attacks from all the hostile forces of which we have tactical knowledge, including species 8472, the Borg, Hirogen and other native species of this quadrant.

You see, sir, you think that your base is well defended on the ground, which is true. However, your enemies will not strike you directly on the ground. Any mildly wise commander would first bombard you and take out all your defenses.

My pont here is that these simulations prove that you need a better space defense. Starfleet can't afford to lose this base.

If I know my friend and Captain I think he knows how to solve this problem for you, and it would be wise to talk to him...

I know you don't trust me, so I'll give you access to my service record. It'll not be unrestricted, but you will know I am telling you the truth when I say I want the best for your station.

*presses a command and a small viewing screen appears in the middle of the black table-top, in front of the Admiral. it shows basic information about Chekov and the ship, including his status as a Federation Intelligence Officer and the ship's comissioning data, though not it's specs.*

This information is, of course, for your eyes only, sir. Should you discuss this with any one you will be subject to court marcial, as specified on Federation Special Order  X-24 sub-section B.
