News Announcements / Expansion Fleet Continues!
June 23, 2008, 05:47:35 AM
So, while this installment of Star Trek: Expansion has come to a close, we're not about to just go home and give up! Over the past few months, we've been writing up the premise to a whole new RPG (based in EF's reality, of course), and have built an entirely new website to match!

Before I post the URL, let me give you all a little instruction. You will need to sign up on the HOME page FIRST, as the site is build to automatically create an account on the forums once you do this. WHen you sign up on the main site, you'll find that the forum has already signed you up and logged you in.

Do NOT try to make an account on the forums independently, for our sake. It could cause some weird things to occur.

Remember that we are creating a whole new RPG here, with a whole new cast. Please, do not try to retain your character from this RPG, but rest assured, your character will still exist. Avalon Station and her fleet will go on, but we've gotten all we can out of this band of characters and ships, and it's time to move on.

The site can be found here: http://www.expansionfleet.com/expansion/" target="_blank">New Expansion Fleet Home Page

News Announcements / Ikonboard errors...
December 18, 2006, 09:48:41 PM
We of the High Command are aware of the intermittent Ikonboard CGI errors occurring while trying to post, change users, or even access the main board. We are working to replace or repair the integrated portal system of the main board, which has been known to crumble under the immense strain that ExpansionFleet puts on it.

For now, just be patient, keep trying to log in or post every once in a while, and we'll have this cleared up as quick as we can.

Thanks,
Admiral Karelia

News Announcements / Live on New Orleans; Live on!

Don't think I'm insensitive, but when you build a city below sea level, with nothing but a few walls of dirt holding back the Atlantic Ocean, you've got to expect this eventually.

The Gulf of Mexico is part of the Atlantic Ocean. I know what I'm talking about.

News Announcements / Live on New Orleans; Live on!

Well, when the French established the city in the 17th century, they were above sea level. That area is called the "French Quarter", the news has been talking about it, because it's the only dry section of New Orleans. However, as the USA expanded the city during the early years, they ran out of space, and had to expand into the outlying valleys, which happen to be below sea level.

Well, I hope you all also caught a glimpse of the comet Hale-Bopp some years ago, because it won't come around again until the 50th century. Yes, that's three thousand years from now.

News Announcements / London bombing

I don't know if I'd agree with that whole passage, but I will agree that an attack on London is just another instance of terrorists showing not only their disregard for human life, but their cowardice as well.

Such comments are not only untolerated, but they show a blatant disregard for the sanctity of life. Clean it up in the future, or don't post in topics like this.

From this point forward, all new applicants are required to enroll in and graduate from the Deep Space Academy on Avalon Station before officer ranks of Ensign or higher may be reached.

All applicants who do not wish to enroll at the Academy must be content with a non-commissioned rank, however, may choose to enroll at the Academy at any time.

Therefore, the current Starfleet rank scheme is as follows:

Enlisted Crew

-Crewman Recruit (CM3)
-Crewman Apprentice (CM2)
-Crewman (CM1)
-Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3)
-Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2)
-Petty Officer 1st Class (PO1)
-Chief Petty Officer (CPO)
-Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO)
-Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO)

Warrant Officers

-Warrant Officer (WO)
-Chief Warrant Officer 3rd Class (CWO3)
-Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class (CWO2)
-Chief Warrant Officer 1st Class (CWO1)

Line Officers - Requires graduation from Deep Space Academy

-Ensign (ENS)
-Lieutenant JG (LT JG)
-Lieutenant (LT)
-Lt. Commander (LCDR)
-Commander (CDR) (Requires completion of Bridge Commander's Test)
-Captain (CAPT)

Flag Officers - Requires permission from existing Flag Officer

-Commodore (COMM)
-Rear Admiral (RADM)
-Vice Admiral (VADM)
-Admiral (ADM)

High Command - Requires permission from existing High Command

-Fleet Admiral (FADM)
-Flag Admiral (FLADM)

All crew must begin at the rank of Crewman Recruit, unless he/she decides to enroll at the Academy. Upon graduation, he/she will be immediately granted the rank of Ensign. Initial assignments to any rank above Crewman Recruit or Ensign may only be given out with High Command approval.

If one does not wish to enroll at the academy, they may progress through the NCO ranks into the Warrant Officer ranks. If the CO agrees, the Warrant Officer may later be promoted to Ensign.

To be granted the rank of Commander or higher, one must have successfully passed the Bridge Commander's test. An officer is eligible to take the Bridge Commander's Test once they reach the rank of Lieutenant. A passing grade must be verified to the High Command by the Division CO upon completion of the test.

To be granted the rank of Commodore or higher, one must have the approval of an existing officer of the Admiralty. This is subject to scrutiny by the High Command.

To be granted the rank of Fleet Admiral, one must already hold the rank of Admiral, and must recieve an official promotion by a member of the High Command. Those holding the rank of Fleet Admiral before this act are not subject to this, but are also not eligible to give a promotion to Fleet Admiral.

The rank of Flag Admiral may not be reached by anyone other than Flag Admiral Vorak, unless the member plans on using the promotion as an excuse to end the character's assignment in Expansion Fleet. For example, one may reach Flag Admiral if the character is to be transferred to the Alpha Quadrant.

All promotions are subject to scrutiny by the High Command and the Admiralty.

Tomas Goransson shouldn't even count anymore, he's been gone for years. In which case, I'd be #5.
