Title: Mission 1: Ghosts in the Machine
Post by: Vincent Garhart on March 02, 2006, 04:13:36 PM
Garhart appears out of one of the Jeffries Tubes in ops looking like he rolled around in oil for a few hours.

"That was delightfullly Unpleasent.  Admiral Hobson, what is going on here?"

Just as Vincents words escape his lips the lights and all the consoles in Ops go off as the computer annouces that 7 intruders have been located in ops and lockdown is in affect by authorization of Commodore Nesbitt.

Garhart and Cook are beamed to the access hatch.

"Nice of them to give us a ride huh commander?  Well then shall we go in?"

Cook and Garhart walk in and start towards the computer core.  About half way there the 2 hear the computer warning of an intruder.  Cook throws the PADD with the program at garhart as a bulkhead shuts between the two leaving Garhart to go the rest of the way alone.

Commander cook has been sealed in Junction A23 of the main computer core housing.  I am proceeding to the interface terminal standby.

Cook is still walking around the level, it seems that the computer core was keeping him in the hallway, not letting him up, nor down levels, nor anywhere near to the core, he was getting a tad tired, walking around in a grav suit made for space and not in the interior of a hallway that is pressurized.

Cook had given up in trying to comunicate with anyone, so he was counting diffrent things, the lights in the ceiling, the number of hallways, how long a section is from one intersection to the next, how many doors he can pass by, all of which were locked out to him at the moment. Along with how many dead wall termanals, so far ten... wait eleven now. No windows in this section, which made Cook a tad depressed, if their was a window, at least he could star into space and just let his mind wonder, instead he was walking around trying to get out of this maze that the Computer was putting him through.

By the time this is all done, Cook could possible design this section of the station in his sleep.

The officers stationed on the Ops deck worked as normal. The routine of thier shift was nearly over, though.
Before the crew rotated, and headed towards thier quarters, the ops comm opened on its own.
'Personal Log, Stardate 59146.0: I am beginning to plan a vacation trip to a planet in the Delta Alliance space. My work has gotten very stressfull, and I am becoming reminded of my past service more than ever'...
The voice faded before it completed, and switched to another voice.
'Warning! Unauthorized launching in the main shuttle bay'

*Valen sits bye the door to the Medical bay as the thuds keep coming, and he starts to rock back and forth, is he seeing things, is the thuds he is hearing are real?, why isnt there anyone here to stop them, from getting out?*

*On Ops Valen calls again but this time his voice is calmer but in the background the thuds on the sealed medical bay door grow louder and louder as the current occuppants try to get out*

"Umm, Sirs, OHHH yes sirs, ummm, HELP!, there going to EAT ME!!!!! *then Valen gets all hysterical*

OOC**Go with this please.  In the end they will be killed for real but I will blame the food they ate before they died somehow, they injested some virus that took over there bodies and reanimated them somehow.  Thats what I think should happen, but I will find that out about the reanimating and the food poisoning and such, will happen later.  So go with it and have fun with it :).  Bad to worse hehe.

"Aye sir, but should we wait for Rear Admiral Starwind? I last saw him in the docking bay of the Windsor... I had to leave him to report here, I told him to report here as soon as he could, but I will be working on the delivery system... but I must have twenty minutes.... I do want to proof read my own codes to make sure they work after all." Cook smiled before focusing his full attention back on the PADD that he was working on, every once in a while he would shake his head, and rework a line, working and working trying to do his little torgian horse for the computer. Ten minutes have past so far.

Hobson was caught off guard by this form of communication, he twitched slightly, but unnoticed. He listened to the information, and pondered. After several minutes at least, he tried the only method of response he could think of, hoping it could work.
He thought.
A microrganism explains....a lot..If it is able to understand problems, if it can comprehend from your communication that if it lowers the restrictions it's put on us, that we could give it just the help it needs
He paused for a moment.
Is this an 'it' or 'them'..?
He waited, cautiously, hoping he had made a response.

The lights in Ops dimmed, causing Baphomet to pull out her Tricorder and take readings of the power conduits and the computer system.

"Admiral, we seem to be running out of time, the Biomorphic entity or entities will be ready to reproduce any moment now.

Neutrino levels in the Main Computer Core have increased expenentially, at present it is not at dangerous levels, but by my calculations we have approximately 20 minutes before it will be too late to do anything about it.

*Valen was in the back in his lab when he started to hear some noises.  But thinks nothing of it and goes back to work, a few hours pass and he kept hearing strange noises from the morgue, so he decides to investigate.  He walked into the morgue, it was cold in there, but the noises kept getting louder and louder till a humanoid figure came shambling towards Valen as he backed out in shock.  The Humanoid figure had peices of flesh falling off his face, maggots growing in his open wounds, and blood covering his face, and part of his eyes were popping out and glazed over, they kept moaning.  Valen ran out of the medical bay, and sealed the door*

*A panicked voice of Valen comes in over the comm to ops*

"SIR!!!!! Hobson went to exit his office for Ops, but as he entered the door arch, they did not slide open. Unused to the automatic opening, he walked directly into the closed doors, head first.
"Whats wrong with this..?".
He put his hand on his head, and pulled at the center with the other.
The doors pulled open nearly an inch, and simply returned to thier automatic operation.

A he walked onto Ops rubbing his forehead, he checked with an officer.
"Inform engineering of a small maitainence need on the first deck".

He took to a center station, feeling as though it was just a start to a bad day.

Cook smiles and then walks to the nearest air lock and soon he is back into his science uniform and walks onto ops. He looked around and checked the computer and started running a self check to see just what kind of insainity had occured, finding that indeed Captain Smith was outside his room, uses a site to site transport to put Captain Smith back into his room, and was planing on having his ears ringing for a few minutes when his shift ended.

In Tom's mind he hears Garharts Voice.

Tom, I have made contact with something inside the computer core.  It is intelligent and alive, however it is not fully self aware yet.  According to this lifeform it started understanding in one of our science labs, then it branched out to other things.
Trying to get more understanding it tried the replicator first.  Then it moved so some of our dead officers but could not make the connections it need.  Then it found the main computer core.  Tom, it is learning from us.  It blocked of Adm Starwind because it thought he would be aggressive and kill it.  The same thing with Cook.  It blocked off everyone it thought would instinctivly destroy it.
It wants to be set free. , to be able to leave this station.  I may be able to convince it to release Starwind if we agree to help it be able to leave the station.

Mr Richerds, is beamed unto the Ops with a phaser in his hand and looked around in bafflement, "Uh Admirals, care to explain why the computer informed the old security chief of seven indruders, and then let me use my command code to get in here?" Richerd was one that understood computers to get through life, but he didn't really understand the real working interior of a computer, I.E. how it tells if an intruder is onboard, or scans a person, but he knew that his job was a tad easier then it would have been without them. "So, care to explain this?" he asks as he puts away his phaser.

Mr. Cook turned around to face the Admiral, "Well sir... we could hide our fix and reloading as an nessisary upgrade.... if their is one thing that I have learned from the borg or the M-5 inccidnet, both desire more knowledge, more space, and above all, a faster mind and capability, if we could trick the main computer core that we are performing a nessisary upgrade to it's systems it may just let us by.... but we must be careful and not reveal what we are doing... maybe design a new delivery system that acts as an upgrade but at the same time a non lethay virus that will prevent itself from stoping the reload and fixing of the system.... of course if this is a borg virus we may be stopped.... but I must tell you, that ship was as deserted as earth's moon in the 1800's, so I have no idea what is going on, maybe without a borg drone or queen this is what a borg invasion system does.... cause mayhem and confusion on the infected vessal or station. Of course everything I have said is just ideas that may or may not work but give me time and I may just find a way to make a delivery system of the design I have talked about." Cook then turned his chair and picked up a data padd and began to work out codes and systems that might help with the situation.

"Well, Richard, so far very little is known for sure up here. I believe work is being done elsewhere. But no developments have been reported to Ops. What is known, is that the computer began to malfunction several days ago. No cause for it has been proven yet. There is speculation that it is tied to the problem with the gel packs which caused many to die from a virus infected into replicator processed meals. Doctor Starchaser it seems has had the wildest of all experiences so far from these malfunctions".

Post by: Baphomet on March 31, 2006, 08:21:35 AM
Baphomet considers events for a while, she new they were dealing with some form of energy based lifeform, but the rerouting of power was the deciding factor.

"Actually Admiral there might be a way."

=A=Baphomet to Freeman=A=

"As the power is being rerouted to the main computer system, I semise we are dealing with a biomorphic lifeform that requires large amounts of electrical energy to reproduce, which is probably why it is in the Computer systems, so it's offspring can grow and learn.

This is only a supposition of course, but a similar entity has invaded Starfleet vessels' computer systems before, given to the human race's incessant need to store Gigaquads of information everywhere."

*Baphomet turns to the Admiral to see if any of her ideas register as making events that have happened thus far, plausible at all.*

"This will be dangerous and may not proove to be fruitful, but I believe this could be the less dangerous of solutions I have thought of at the moment."

"It requires someone to reroute the Main power bus manually to the EPS conduits in the Main Cargo Bay, then it is only a matter of connecting the stations auxilary Power requirements for lighting, Gravity and Life support to my Shuttle, the ZPE Converter should be able to power the station for a short period of time."

"Then it is a matter of emitting an Electro-Magnetic Pulse near the Main Computer core."

"Theoretically this might work, but in practicallity, the odds of this being successful is 55.793%, is this plausible Commander Freeman."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Despite her brilliant mind and being Vulcan, Baphomet always seemed to seek the approval of her peers.
A fact of her personality, that no matter of training and even Kholinar could not shake, the physical torture and constant mind-probes took it's toll and took a while to recover from.
Her recovery was painful and torture in itself, which was the cause of this deviant behavior to her usual logical self.
"My mind to your mind, your thoughts to my thoughts"
~I am Lt. Commander Baphomet from the USS Rivendell. I am using this mind-meld to tell you this, as I do not wish the corrupted Computer to know where my shuttle is, which is in the Main Cargo hold cloaked, Commander Freeman is in the Computer control room.~
Cook is still walking around the deck, so far he couldn't get up nor down in deck levels, the turbo lifts were locked out to him and the jeffries tubes were sealed against him, he had sat down agianst one of the walls and seemed to have fallen asleep, but he was slowly moving towards an access hatch that so far was unlocked due to the status of the blinking lights next to the hatch, he was hoping to try and get off the deck, he felt that he had seen so much of it, by walking in a circle that he could reporduce a replica in his sleep most likely. So he was trying to get out and to a science monitor so as to get this all figured out.
Cook's face turned as white as a ghost as he heard those dreaded words, he bolt right out of his chair and was absolutly horror stricken at thinking that borg drones were onboard the station... but then, he shook his haed, he just hoped that it was a another sensor glitch, but if not.... He right away went to a weapons locker and pulled out a type II phaser and set it on a rotation motulation, so as to get the most bang for buck agianst them.
Cook had done all this mainly on instict but now he was blinking in a way that showed he was surprised at his own action, however he still holsters the phaser and goes over to Ransom and picks up his data PADD, looks over one last time before handing it over to Ransom. "Admiral, the delivery system is all ready to go... but I think we should be accompied by a security detail... I don't want to take any chances of encountering Borg drones...." Cook visables shudders but he is now otherwise calm and collected, and was waiting to see what would be the next order of buisness.
He looks back and dives and rolls sideways while smiling at the times that he had played a holonoval rendention of an Indiana Jones adventure, without the lady though, he personally felt that detracted from the fun of exploring old ruins, he made it out of the closing bulkhead and shook his head, he checked the section that he was just in and sighed, the computer had vented all the oxegen from where he was just in, trying to get ride of the intruders most likely, this computer virus was getting on his nerves, greatly.
Cook now was pacing his own cell corridor, the hatch had sealed itself and now he was trapped on the deck that housed the computer core... something that he wasn't too happy about, he hade placed his helmet onto his EVA suit agian wondering what was going to happen next.
