*Bostic enters the room followed by two armed guards then Svensson, tucker and another two guards. He takes a seat and the four guards stand in each corner while Tucker stands at the door.*

"Now Svensson you should be aware that this room is made of metles which no phaser could penatrate, the door is protected by 2 level 1 security force feilds and every man in this room has orders to fire and kill you if need be, in a few minutes they will go into a private room were they can whatch but not hear, they will be only a few seconds away and I myself am armed so dont try anything."

"Admiral, first of all allow me to apologize for what happened. I did not want to create an unnecessary stir, only point certain things out. And nobody was hurt or endangered in the process, right? I have simply been sent here by orders of Starfleet itself, and by Intelligence, to check on security matters of this station. And I have indeed made the conclusion that this station could use some more defenses, and with my contacts, I can get you those defenses."

"To say im not tempted would be untrue, but I cant put my career in danger, tell me just what you want me to aid you with and If I see no danger to the federation I will agree.
To save the federation is every officers dream Svensson so tell me what do you have in mind for me."

OFF: Im going along with this if its ok admiral.

"Well as you know we can never be to careful, but I am rather curious to hear what you have to say about our defenses, would you care to elaborate on that?"

"You would not endanger your carreer, because as a Section 31 officer you would be protected from the highest ranks in Starfleet. There would be no dnager to the Federation in anything we ask of you, because our goal is to save it from danger, not cause it. What I ask from you, Mr. Bostic, is if you are willing to become a Section 31 operative like me. You would remain here on board Starphoenix Base, and you would continue to carry on your duties as you do now. But if necessary, you should not hesitate to risk your own life to defend the greater good and this entire station. And if you can put an end to immitent danger, you should do so at all times - even if that sometimes means breaking some of the rules of Starfleet. After all, your secret status will always keep you free from any court martial."

"If an enemy fleet decides to attack or plunder this station, they will find themselves little challenged. I don't doubt your capacity to protect this station, but you can only do so much with the means you have. And if the enemy mounts an attack and manages to take hold of this base, it means they can also get into the Starfleet databases and thus discover secret informations about Starfleet's strategy. What you need, is a ship, well armed and fast."

"Alright Its just you and me now Svensson, so go ahead."

"So where was I? Ahh yes. What I am about to tell you now, is strictly confidential. I trust that you keep it to yourself. And don't fear, it won't be against any Starfleet oath, it would not harm Starfleet in any way. If anything, it saved Starfleet from a great peril."
*Svensson leaned back relaxed in his seat and begain to tell.*
"So, where shall I start? Well, let's say that the universe is big and there is much out there that we don't know yet. Or let's say, that normal starfleet officers and captains don't know about. And sometimes there are dangers out there that people wouldn't even want to know about. Because if they did, there would be panic all over the Federation, and the disorder would be the best time for any enemy to strike. It is my task, among others, to prevent that to happen ever! And so it happened, that my superiors discovered some sort of natural metal in deep space, called Validium. Secret investigations have discovered that the power of this device would be so strong, it could wipe out our galaxy in an instant. And that would be something we'd rather avoid, no? But we couldn't just make this public. First, it would cause a terror of panic everywhere. Secondly, if our enemies... Jem'Hadar, Borg, Species 8472, found out about it, they'd be on it in an instant and use it to conquer the entire universe.
So, as I'm sure you understand, it was supposed to be a secret operation to dismantle and disable this weapon, to make sure nobody could use it any more. Secret operations often mean undercover work. And so, me and another secret agent went undercover aboard the U.S.S. Skytoucher and went into the Van'Gu Cluster, where the location of the Validium was discovered. Then we had to disappear before the captain could find out why we were there, but not before we had accomplished in destroying the most dreadful weapon in the universe. So, Mr. Bostic, now you know what I am really here for: to save a million people from destruction before they ever knew that danger could remotely be upon them. It is what I was born to do, and what I will do to the end of my days. I would readily give my life for Starfleet and the Federation, if it meant I could save millions of others with it. But of course, the idea is not to get myself killed but to stay alive as long as possible and save the universe as many times as I can, wherever I can. There are already too few of us in Starfleet, too few secret agents and undercover officers. That's why we need good, worthy people, like you Mr. Bostic. We need someone who is willing to give his life to save the Federation, but will take the secret of his operations to his grave only, so that in the end, we will be thought of as a rumour, and remain a rumour only. Because otherwise, all we fight for and try to save, will be lost."
*Then he got up and looked Bostic in the eyes.*
"Yes, the rumour is true. We are Section 31, and now you know what we really do: save the universe. To be Section 31 is to know, to dare, and to remain silent. You have what it takes to help us in our noble cause. Will you aid us?"

*Svensson raises his hands.*
"It's not me you need to be afraid of or anything. I have done no harm to anyone here, have I? As soon as I can speak with you alone, I will continue my explanation. You have my word that I will bring nobody to harm."

Sullivan materializes in the security office before bostic/huw/svensson

Well, Svensson I believe we have some things to discuss.

Sullivan turns to Bostic, I need to speak with the good captain alone if you don't mind.  Please escort huw to the transporter room and let him return to the ship.   I will call for you when I need you.

Watches Bostic leave with huw towards the transporter room

Well we are alone, This is what you have wanted all along is it not?  So what is it that you have been dieing to speak to me about?

"A ship? Well armed? Fast? Starfleet would never give this outpost such a ship.  Unless you have connections that I don't?  What sort of ship?"

*Svensson smiles.*
"That's the least thing you need to worry about, Mr. Bostic. Once this is over and admiral Sullivan has released me from this prison, I will make sure you have everything you need. And that means access to quite alot. You will be given security access codes that allow you to access far more in the Federation databanks than you can now. In fact, far more than most of the admirals can. This way, you will be able to do a great deal of research on past encounters with dangerous entities in this area of space, so you know what you're dealing with if it occurs again. Secondly, these security access codes include 100% isolated and secure transmission codes that nobody can decode but me or my own superiors. Not even high-ranked people like Flag Admiral Vorak or Fleet Admiral Montrell have the ability to even detect any of such transmissions, let alone decode it. We use advanced technology that you have never even dreamed of, or isn't in use in common starships. Phase cloak, transwarp, transphasic torpedoes and shielding. For Section 31, it is all common technology, really. But when the need is dire, it will be much needed and the success of our missions will largely depend on it. Once me and my ship have left orbit around this planet and station, it will be exactly 3 days and 12 hours, when you will find a secured package in your quarters. How we are able to get it there without a single soul in the universe knowing it, you will come to find out in time and learn how to do the same in time - but one step at a time. The package will contain devices of great use to you. Mobile transporters, personal cloaks, highly advanced tricorders, undetectable explosives, and... one of our latest additions of technology: the cameleon uniform. It will look like a standard uniform like the one you wear now, but in case of danger, the color of the uniform adapts to the color of its surroundings, like a cameleon does to hide itself. So if you are hiding behind grey craters somewhere, for example, the uniform will take on the same color of the craters, making it almost impossible for any possible enemy to find you. When you receive the package, feel free to have a look at everything, but remember one thing: do not use any of those devices idly, and keep them at a safe place. They are only to be used if all other options fail. And in case of any questions, you will have access through secure channels that even the highest admirals don't know of, to contact me."
*Svensson looks around in the cell.*
"Well, I think I've been in here quite long enough now. I could simply ask my ship to beam me up through the forcefield and the transporter inhibitors, because our transporters are more advanced than this technology too, but let's do this by the book. Let us start with your first assignment, Mr. Bostic. This station is in a vulnerable place in the universe, close to the Dark Passage, but too far away from any other station to get help quick in case of any attack. The freighter and medical ship are hardly any good to defend this station, so what this station needs is a strong, solid ship. I will make sure that the ship gets here, it will be named U.S.S. Lothlorien. You are to keep an eye on the activities about the ship, to make sure that it is in a shape to defend this station if need be. As for now, perhaps you could contact admiral Sullivan, and request him to come over here so we can negotiate my release."

"It is not all so unbelievable as you think, Mr. Bostic. Once I am released here, I could even give you a tour around the ship so you can see for yourself I speak truth. And if you don't want that, you'll know I spoke truth when in 3 days and 12 hours from now you'll find the package in your quarters."

OFF: posting this here, because I can't find back the forum any more for the crew quarters. So assume this is about John Bostic's quarters.

*That day, exactly 3 days after the departure of the USS Phoenix, a box stands in the room of John Bostic. How it got there undetected nobody will ever know, but it is there, waiting for Bostic. And the box includes high-tech security equipment as Svensson had promised him...*
