(OFF: Normandy's an Ambassador Refit class, so all the limitations of the Ambassador, like old warp core, weak weapons, etc. don't apply.)

Ensign Xavier Clark - Bridge, U.S.S. Iroquois

Clark banked the nimble Defiant to the same heading as the rest of the fleet, and tapped in the commands to activate the warp field and take the ship to FTL speeds. The starscape on the main viewer streaked brightly, indicating the transition to warp.

Clark turned around from the helm for a moment. "If we could," he said, "I'd like to get a little of that extra power for the engines. Shields and armor will do us no good if we get caught in a tractor lock and skewered with a cutting beam."

Ensign Clark slid back into the Ops/Helm console at the front of the bridge. "So, let me get this straight... the guys on Avalon are our friends, and the guys back there on the warships are the enemy, and the warships and the station are fighting? No wonder no one seems happy here."

"Ma'am, scans show... oh, this is weird. Navigational sensors are off the charts, but a manual scan shows we're still right where we were."

"I wouldn't discount the ingenuity of the Terrans, Commander. However, there is a slight imbalance in the molecular structure of all matter that hails from this universe, that is perfectly normal here, but can throw up a red flag on any detailed tricorder scans. If need be, we can scan the Admiral to determine his true origin."

Xavier shook the Commander's hand firmly. "I'm at your disposal, ma'am. I've gone through twice the training of the average officer, and I've just graduated from the Academy as valedictorian of my advanced class. If you've got a place for me, ma'am, I can fill it. I only have one request, and that's that I'm put somewhere that I can truly be of use."
