Oh... idea.

Okay, I don't know if any of you forgot... but I read that this society could be on the brink of warp capability... and well... in the fight, the flight crew of this new ship is killed, along with their marine escort, and so, agianst orders or something, some of the marines launch the warp ship anyway... thus proving that the society is warp capable and Star Fleet would then get involved...

Just working off one of the smaller points that I read... but you did ask for people's input.

Hmmmmm, we could have the civilization be attacked by the Kazons? or perhaps Species 8472 I think the name is.  Some rogue element of them split off from fluidic space and decided to attempt Galaxy domination?.  That could work, then they attack we respond.

We could use some of the medical personel from the Academy in a real live situation of medical needs.  Give them something to do.  They dont necessarily need to be graduates.  They just need to know the basic stuff and have hands on experience and they are golden http://www.expansionfleet.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.
