"Thank you, Captain Rajnus. And it's nice to meet you, Mr. Dolan." She said softly, taking his hand in hers and shaking it before seating herself next to the Captain. "I apologize for not introducing myself sooner. I'm Lieutenant Sayuri, Ship's Counselor."

She squinted, looking at the symbol only half puzzled. "Omega. It's part of the ancient greek alphabet, is it not? It's also used in partical physics and mathematics, among other things.." She trailed off, not wanting to say too much more.

Throwing her hair up as loosely as she could get away with, she had been on her way to the bridge herself when it had been cleared of the lower ranks, including her own. She couldn't help but sigh at this - her rank hardly served her well at such times, and she knew it. ..She'd have to work on that. Instead she made her way down to engineering to see what she could find out about the situation. If anyone else knew, the people there would.

As unfortunate as it was, the chaos made it difficult to find out much of anything. The engines were down, and the bridge was cleared; this was something big. She had her suspicions. This was the one of the things she hated whenever she found herself in a new position; it would take time to build trusts and make friends in high (or low, if the situation so required) places. In fact, she had barely seen the Commanding Officer yet at all. In some cases being invisible is exactly what's required, but this was not one of those times.

After looking over the shoulders of a few engineers, word of a senior staff briefing made its way to her. Smirking at the ways her rank did work in her favour, she headed back towards the bridge at a reasonable pace.

Nodding slightly to the bridge officer with a smile, she confidently walked into the briefing room. "I beg your pardon, Sirs," she said in a hushed voice, "but if there's something going on here.." she paused for a moment, purposely, "I think I should be aware of it. It's impossible for me to do my job blindly. The crew is already nervous, to put it bluntly, and I can't help them if I don't know what we're dealing with. So if you'd be so kind," she smiled, "I'd like to sit in on this one."

She frowned. "If there's anything I can do to help Captain, Admiral, please let me know. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on the crew. Surely they've already noticed that something odd is happening, and not knowing would be enough to make anyone a bit edgy, especially when there's an Admiral in our midst."

Relaxing her features now, she turned to Admiral Yates and smiled. "Speaking of which, it's lovely to finally meet you in person, Sir. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you were the one who assigned me this position, but we had yet to meet face to face. I'm only sorry it isn't under better circumstances.."

She couldn't help but laugh a little. "Well, you're quite correct. My father was a diplomat. He specialized in trade agreements between governments, factions, and alliances. At times he got himself into things that weren't entirely above board, even if he didn't realize it until it was.. too late. I'm sure you arleady knew that much, though.." She trailed off for a moment. "My mother.. was a casualty of one such incident, and her file has been classified due to the gritty details. I'm sure you already knew that, too.."

"As for your last question.." she paused once more, choosing her words carefully. "well, let's just say that I've been keeping a low profile and keep it at that, shall we?" She laughed once more. "Even someone who loves her job as much as I do needs a break once in a while. I'm sure you can understand.."

More stating than questioning she said "Shall I sit, then" and invited herself to one of the chairs in front of his desk, hardly missing a beat. She returned his glances with a smile as she comfortably crossed her legs. "I hope you don't mind, sir.." she smirked, eyeing his reactions ever so slightly. "What can I do for you?"

"Aye, Captain. A phasor is one thing I can certainly handle." She said with a gentle smile, lingering in the briefing room for a few moments longer before following after the Captain.

She couldn't help but smirk to herself slightly. This was going to prove to be interesting, that much she was sure of. Perhaps she didn't need to be so concerned with making those contacts, after all.

She didn't bother to wait for his acknowledgement before entering the ready room. "Captain." she nodded. "You wanted to see me?"

Aariya was just about to respond when Simon's combadge chimmed. Dolan.

She finished up her apple cider while she waited, taking a few final sips before it was quiet again.

"Thank you, Captain. My eyes and ears are always open. I'll see if I can't track down Mr. Richards and send him in.."

With that, she nodded once more and walked back out onto the bridge. "Mr. Richards?" she said quietly, walking up to the man. "The Captain would like to see you in his Ready Room."

Her expression didn't change. She had expected better from him; testing her in this manner was hardly wise. She knew full well that he was prodding her for a reaction, and she had absolutely no intention of giving him one. "In some ways we're very much a like," she said softly, after a moment "and in others, not so much. We both always knew how to get a job done, and neither of us are very good at playing by the rules. With that said, here is where we differ: I can't be bought, regardless of the price. And if that wasn't the case, Captain, you and I wouldn't be having this charming conversation."

"Judging on your file alone, I find you to be shady and erratic. You make snap decisions and don't keep your crew entirely in the loop. I knew that much about you before I joined your crew, and even though I've only been on your ship for a matter of days, I've already seen it. That stunt with the shuttle? That's a pretty damn good example right there. As for trusting you.. well, I hardly trust anyone with too much. Once again, I'm sure you understand."

Her mouth curled into a gentle smirk as she skimmed the file carefully, expecting something of this sort from the beginning. Perhaps she didn't expect his rank to be as high as it was, but there was no doubt in her mind that he was Intel; not after he had called her into his ready room in the way that he had, anyway.

"I told you, Director. The only secrets here are the ones we tell ourselves. I had no secrets that you didn't already know. You had quite the advantage on me, but I knew it. And you knew that I knew it. That's what makes these games so interesting. I freely admit to enjoying the cat and mouse. Now that we're being honest, what can I do for you, really? You still haven't told me as much."

"'Traitor' isn't the word I would have used, but it's not entirely inaccurate. Regardless, as you well know, he's been pardoned. I could have reacted, but I don't see what that would have accomplished."

She continued to sit back casually, her hands resting idly in her lap as she spoke. "Besides, he wouldn't have wanted me to react. I'll give that much to the old fellow; he taught his daughter very well."

Her expression relaxed. "I would take a mug of hot cider, if you'd be so kind. Apple, preferably. And Captain? The only secrets here are the ones we tell ourselves. What exactly do you think I'm hiding?"

She laughed. "I probably know more than you'd think, but there's always room for more knowledge and advancement. I know that not everything is quite as it seems, Captain. I know that you wouldn't be asking so many questions about my file if you were exactly what you appear to be, and you certainly wouldn't be making allegations surrounding my father's file. So, as I said: the only secrets here are the ones we tell ourselves. God knows we can't trust anyone else with them."

She blew on her cider softly before taking a sip. "Replicated. I don't care what anyone says; it isn't quite the same."

((I actually have no idea where exactly a counselor is supposed to go durring a red alert. *fails*))

Since she was already on the bridge and had yet to encounter a Heerani vessel up until now, curiosity urged her to remain. Finding an unmanned console near the back of the bridge, she quietly walked over to it and began to tap at the controls. After entering in her clearance, she skimmed over the data that had been gathered herself. This may have seemed a bit suspicious considering her position, and under normal circumstances she would have avoided doing it in such a public way (instead, she would have gained access from her office or quarters. After all, she didn't need to hide who/what she was from the Captain, so this wasn't an issue...) but after being briefed as a member of the senior staff, and being talked to privately in the Captain's ready room, most people would probably shrug it off as something he had asked her to stay involved in, which wasn't entirely inaccurate. He had asked her to keep an eye on things, after all...

That's when the ship shook beneath her, nearly knocking her off her feet. She hunched against the console in front of her, bracing for impact that was surely to come again.

She couldn't help but show her surprise. Her eyes widened with it, and her friendly features faded. This is one thing she didn't expect, though.. as she thought about it now, it made perfect sense. A lot of things made perfect sense, in fact. She bit her lower lip slightly, before regaining her composure.

"My father was an agent? I.. I had always suspected, you understand, but no one could ever confirm it for me. It's the nature of the job, I realize.. but even so, I thank you for that."

It took her a moment longer to slip back into her comfort zone. She was hardly used to displaying her emotions so openly in front of someone such as Rajnus. Even with her background in psychology behind her, she couldn't help but feel somewhat annoyed at her lack of self control in that moment. If she had to choose one thing to hate, lack of control would certainly be it.

"Blowing your cover would end very badly for me, Director. Or Captain, I guess I should say. Those self-centered reasons alone would be more than enough to discourage me from doing so. Truly I'd have nothing to gain from it, and naturally, I don't wish to blow my own cover either. I am at your service. If there isn't anything else, Captain, I'm sure you have much to attend to and I've taken up plenty of your time.."

Her relaxed smile returned once more.
