Vorak

It appears that the flight instructor is unavailable at this time. The Academy CO will be alert now about this so a solution can be found.

*Only seconds after Archer left the bidge, he returned*

"One more thing, cadet. Since you are officially a cadet, you may change your avatar into 'Cadet C1'."

*Archer left again*

Thank you for the promotion Sir.
*Sits down at the helm and engages the navigation computer.*
All systems responsive to helm control Sir.
*begins programming the navigation computer to plot the course.*
MENTAL NOTE TO SELF: Must remember that human concept of clockwise and counterclockwise.
Sir, course plotted and laid in, impulse thrusters show green, shields at maximum, awaiting further instructions.

"Setting a course. Bearing 000 Mark 040. Full impulse ahead. Slanted above many of the asteriods"

*Heads into more asteroids*
"Bearing 010 Mark 000 to free of the field. Beginning beta-4 maneuvering to avoid contact with the rocks"

*After the mission was completed, Archer decided it was time to return to the academy to check on his cadets. Hoping that Kennedy was still in the academy or elsewhere on the station, he went to classroom 9. When he didn't find his cadet here, he decided to call him*

=^=Cadet Kennedy, this is Fleet Captain Archer. I am ready to start your Helm-training. If you are still interested, please report to classroom 9 in the academy ASAP. Archer out.=^=

*After that, he went back to his office to do some paperwork.*

Marco Diaz

Very good.

Now comes the OOC part.

When in a mission that your CO or the High command has created you are allowed to make things up as part of your point of view.

Since you have chosen helm, people think you are doomed to spend eternity responding to the Captain's orders to "take the ship out"  or "Dock with a station"

But that doesnt have to be if you follow closely to the mission at hand.
Read what everyone has responded with and put your thoughts into the storyline.

A crewmember that posts regularly is more important than a person who waits for somebody to talk to them.

And if you'd like you can make your own sub-plots (as long as they don't interfere with the main mission)

And it does not matter if it's not riveting, whatever fits in your POV.

You will notice that it is a much more rewarding experience when you have added something.

ON: You are moving along nicely.  Were you recruited from a particular division or none at all?

If not, then which division have you chosen to report to when this is all finished?
Captain Marco Diaz,
Commanding Officer DSA

Marco Diaz

He chuckles a bit " No, let's take the scenic route."

" Reduce speed to 1/4 impulse, and I want to see if you ca,," CRASH! A blast hit the shuttle that shook the two occupants inside, sparks flew and smoke ploomed

Marc thought to himself 'Right on time'  "Okay Wiggin, evasive manuevers!"

Sensor alarms rung as data was recieved, Marc looked to his panel " 2 planetary defense ships tracking us"

Another alarm rang as it was detecting enemy fire!
Captain Marco Diaz,
Commanding Officer DSA

Jon Dane

"Course set for retreat manuevers. Tactical may place shield power on rear sheilds to full, Impulse engaged sir".
Cadet Jon Dane
Operations

Cobra

=^="Fighter wing, follow me in attack lead target, just sheilds weapons and engines if you can."=^=

Wiggin and the fighter group opened fire on the closest vessel, which also happened to be the most weakened, with all phasers and a full spread of torpedoes, just as these weapons hit, the Nebula class ship made a pass bloking the fighters from a phaser barrage and straffing the enemy ships sheilds.

=^="GOTTA LOVE THAT COMBO!"=^=Ender said as the enemy ships sheilds failed and the hull took heavy damage.

Ender calmed him self down before addressing to small fighter fleet,

=^="Attention fighters we'll split up now, left wing go with the Nebula class Right wing you're with me and the Tiberion, lets go!"=^=
(ooc:seven fighters per wing, possible name for our back up? )

Graduated Helm Training

Eugene Archer

I appreciate it that you understand. I am also glad that you're staying with us at the academy! Please report to Classroom 5 as soon as possible. I will be there to instruct engineering as well.

Eugene Archer

"I know that starboard is right and port is left, it's just that I haven't been on a ship for some time now. And when I walk down these corridors, I don't go to starboard, but to my right. We would however not go up, but down. You see, if you stay at the same elevation, the mark is 000. That number increases as you go up, 090 being going up 90 degrees. If you continue that circular moving of degrees, 360 is the same as 000, thus 322 will be down. But apart from that, I think you get the idea. Together with the clever remark about starboard and port, and the way I saw you fly, I will promote you to cadet C2."

"The next part of your training covers some battle tactics and maneuvers. The most important series of maneuvers you have to know, are the Alpha, Beta, and Delta series:

Alpha Series Maneuvers

Alpha: Starfleet's most basic offensive maneuver, attack pattern Alpha involves a mostly straight on approach to the target with some slight vectoring to the side based on the ship's weapons compliment and the target's movement.

Beta Series Maneuvers

Beta: The ship dives down between two enemy ships, firing at least once at each of them (and hoping they will miss it and hit each other.)

Beta-2: Approaching the target closely, the ship jinks to the starboard of the target, then dives beneath it to emerge on its port ventral side, firing as it goes.

Beta-3: The ship makes a broad arc turn around one or more ships, attacking them as it goes.

Beta-4: The ship climbs steeply, veering to port or starboard, then quickly dives back down, firing at targets as it goes.

Delta Series Maneuvers

Delta: The ship swoops up from underneath a target to attack its vulnerable ventral side.

Delta-2: The ship swoops over the target from starboard to port, then back again from port to starboard (sometimes diving underneath in the process) firing as it goes.

Delta-3: The ship dives straight down at, or climbs straight up at, the target, firing forward weapons.

Delta-4: An all-out, straightforward frontal attack.

Delta-5: A long, relatively shallow dive to one side of the target (usually whichever way allows the ship to bring the most weapons to bear on the target, or which uses the target ship to provide cover from other ships' attacks)."

"Please try to remember these maneuvers, because you will need them in the rest of your career.
I will now give you a simulation, which deals with everything you learned about navigation, plotting, and you will also need some evasive maneuvers."

"Computer, start chapter 3."

*The holodeck changed and the ship was moving towards a large asteroid field*

"You will have to find your way through this field, cadet."

"If you would like to be considered for that position, you should try to contact Admiral Tom Hobson (Frontier Division CO), or Captain Marcus Brodie  (U.S.S. Unity CO). They will  know all about the progress of constructing the vessel and recruiting all necessary crewmembers.
For now, I would like to wish all of luck during your career, and I am sure we will meet again. Good bye, ensign."

*And Archer left the classroom*
